The pizza is good but the service sucks no pizza is worth a 2 hour wait especially when they tell you it will take 1 hour... for your pizza...

  • Mar 28, 2021 by Daniel Guthrie

Great food and service. Fun place for the family.

  • Feb 06, 2021 by J A

Good pizza Outrageous pricing! Besides that I ordered 16" and got 14" $75 for 2 14" pizzas and a salad. Oh and the Klondike salad sucks so bad!

  • Jan 11, 2021 by Kevin Clarno

Great pizza they got to get some heaters outside though during this whole covid thing but one of the best pizza places in town by far she goes outside and you get five stars no problem

  • Nov 28, 2020 by Samuel Pineda

Service was awesome, food was delicious, it was a lottle cool but worth the wait. Prices was good compared to other pizza places. Would definitely go back

  • Oct 29, 2020 by Paula Lawson

Good pie. Exceptional atmosphere. My only complaint would be that they accommodated a sniveler who complained about the music by turning it down so others couldn't hear. It is a shame that other customers didn't matter. They have patio seating NOISE free. The complainer chose to sit inside and in close proximity to a ceiling speaker. Go figure.

This place is amazing!  Favorite place to nosh on some tasty pizza and have an ice cold beer.  Locally owned and operated this little gem can be found in the heart of the lovely Village of Arroyo Grande.  Everything her is tasty and fresh.  Excellent customer service!  Go see them!    Please remember that during COVID-19 California has certain restrictions on place on the number of customers allowed to dine in their inside dining room.  Remember to tip and be kind!

  • Oct 17, 2020 by Adriana M.

The pizza is so good really crunchy and overall has a good flavor. The staff has really good customer service definitely recommend this place

  • Sep 19, 2020 by Ashley Diaz

Pizza was great staff was lovey

  • Sep 19, 2020 by William Bowlin

Best pizza in California. They don't skimp on the toppings and the sauce is rich and the crust is the right amounts of crispy and chewy. This is our 11th year of enjoying this place. Hopefully many more to come.

    This is a Denali.

  • Sep 08, 2020 by Paul Miao

This Place has The Best Tasty Yummy Pizzas! Love it!!

  • Sep 01, 2020 by Claire Aguirre

We love love love "basement pizza" there is plenty of room to eat outside now and today we were told that they will be adding heaters soon!! #twinningsince2008 and #thegreathambino love the games and environment and even #Rexasouras can join us.Even after "all of this" is over Im super excited about them continuing to serve outside!! Try it once you will be hooked!

  • Aug 23, 2020 by G. Berumen

We drove in for the weekend from the Bay area, needless to say we were hungry and tired. The wait staff Cole was awesome- good customer service, good pizza and a nice outdoor patio area. We will be picking up a gluten-free pizza for the ride home, for sure!

  • Aug 11, 2020 by Mitchell Shepard

Went here traditionally as a child and starting new tradition with my children. Great staff kind and helpful. Pizza is unmatched.

  • Jul 26, 2020 by Theresa Jones

This was our second time back because the first was so good. We had a 12" pepperoni, Canadian bacon, jalapeno pizza. The marinara goes clear to the outside edge of the pizza. We ate on the patio because of covid regulations. We had to wear a mask to enter & order. Pizza, garlic bread, 1 soda, 1 water was just under $30. Its our pizza spot when in town!

  • Jul 10, 2020 by herrbal joy

I loved the sweet red sauce! It's not like sugar sweet but savory sweet. They pile on Colby jack cheese (cheddar and mozzarella) and on e every week they have a all you can eat. They cook and offer you most types of pizza on the menu, like meat lovers, and denaldi so on! I recremend if you want an a Alaskan/ homeyvibe. And one last note, the floor is dirt so you can throw your peanut shells on the floor, so don't wear nice shoes! (Just a suggestion

  • Jun 28, 2020 by Dennis Burke

Tasty as ever and they are being safe as possible. There is a small outdoor seating area as well.

  • Jun 26, 2020 by Matthew Allard

I have always love Klondike since I was a kid I had three birthday parties there and the pizza is amazing I even have a Klondike t shirt and I use a Klondike pizza box as a time capsule for my high school memories

  • Jun 18, 2020 by Vee Historical

A cool and unique restaurant however the cashier stated that the online claims of the place being haunted is a fraud and just rumors people started. And that she hasn't experienced any paranormal activities. The food was okay, nothing to brag about. The salad was fresh and crisp, the bread could've been softer with some flavor. The pizza crust appeared kinda of burnt on the bottom. Pur waitress was awesome and checked in frequently. The decor was animal theme..mainly a moose. The floor was sand with little debris of wood which I found unique.

  • Apr 07, 2020 by kimberly halas

I want to give it more stars because the food is great, but the customer service lacks.

  • Feb 28, 2020 by Brandon

    Really nice service

  • Jan 26, 2020 by William Ota

This is our favorite pizza place. The decor is amazing and reminds me of Christmas with the griswalds. The pizza is amazing, we always get the pepperoni. It’s fun to have the peanuts to snack on and the drinks counter is convenient when they are busy. It can be extremely noisy so it’s not the most laid back dinner spot. The arcade is great if you have kids and is definitely worth a stop in.

  • Jan 15, 2020 by Chris Clouser

Cool place. Hasn't changed in over 20 years. Roadkill pizza is always a hit.

The environment was great. Had this really cool vibe to it. You get peanuts and get to throw them on the ground. The food was really good. I would really recommend this to anyone who likes good food and likes a cool environment.

  • Dec 27, 2019 by Dominic Mcmillan

I meet with friends this nice place a lot! This is my favorite restaurant to have a bite. I go there many times. The meals are excellent, the staff is polite and the payment is fair. I like eating in this place over a tasty dinner.

  • Dec 16, 2019 by Matthew McAfee

The garlic cheesy bread was great, the pizza was great, and the service was the best. I would totally recommend this place to anyone who wants great atmosphere, pizza, and service.

  • Dec 10, 2019 by Arianna Elaine Duckett

Huge portions! My husband and I got two personal pizzas and we were stuffed half way in! It was super good

  • Dec 04, 2019 by Ali G

Great pizza, you need music or something very quiet atmosphere. Went in last night for buffet deal, Cashier girl was rude, didn't offer us seats or peanuts or really explain what was happening with the buffet, i was kinda clueless, for our first time in it was ok,could have been better. Servers were awesome

  • Dec 04, 2019 by Tim T

Klondikes in AG Klondikes in Santa Maria both are top notch. Went in after the parade and was not disappointed. It was perfect! This is truly the best pizza money can buy. Roadkill on white is always the family favorite.

  • Dec 03, 2019 by BearsForLife F

A fairly hidden Pizza restaurant has surprisingly good pizza, the restaurant however does have an unfitting atmosphere. Its location is no more than 5 miles from the beach, yet its theme feels mountain-like. The Moose Head on the wall, the trees seen in the wall paper, and the dirt floor with peanut shells. I question whether I should return to Klondike Pizza again. Also, maybe put up some more signs telling people about your place as its location is underground.

  • Nov 24, 2019 by Noah Fuhrman

The waiters are very nice and polite! A lovely pizza-eating experience.

  • Nov 10, 2019 by Wendy Farrar

Fun atmosphere. Best pizza in town. Peanut shells on the floor. Perfect.

  • Sep 14, 2019 by Lisa G.

When you walk in, you are transported to an underground pizza oasis. Sawdust covers the ground, vintage arcade games flash their lights, year round Christmas lights brighten the area, and baskets of complimentary shelled peanuts are provided with each order. The ordering process was an ordeal. 3 groups of two in front of us and it literally took 15 minutes to get to the register and place our order. They only had one gal taking orders, despite the rest of the restaurant not being very busy and another gal just kind of staring at the large line that was beginning to back up to the door. I was not sure why no one else began to take orders to expedite the process, but I tried to remain calm despite my "hangriness." The gal who took our order was friendly despite being slammed. We ordered an X-Large half Veggie half Roadkill on white garlic sauce, a mini pepperoni and olive on red for the little one (no smaller or cheaper options for kids), and a pitcher of Coors Light. Our pizza arrived pretty quickly, or perhaps it was the reasonably priced arcade games and helped peanuts you throw upon the floor that made he wait time bearable. Unfortunately our pizza was made as Half Denali/Half Veggie, but the other half was okay with eating it the way it came. I know the gal wrote the order down correctly. So this was 100% a kitchen issue. This pizza is darn good. The veggie on white garlic sauce (sans bell pepper) tasted great. I do wish they would chop their tomatoes, as I ended up just taking them off as whole rounds are a bit tricky to eat on a slice. They are generous with toppings and cheese, and the pies are very flavorful. Prices here are not cheap, and I do believe the Tuesday night Chow Down (all you can eat for one price), is the best deal. The ambiance here is great for groups and families. Bring your quarters for the arcade games and your appetite.

  • Sep 06, 2019 by Reyes D.

Tuesday night chow down! If you know, you know! Nuff said! p.s. you better not have a peanut allergy

  • Sep 03, 2019 by Il K.

9/3/19, arrived around 735pm left 825 pm...  went to eat ayce pizza.  Paid $41 for me, my 2 nephews... in 45 to 50 mins, were offered may be 6 to may be 7 different pizzas... got 2 slice offers in 30 minutes... and got skipped once... getting excuses like oh its slowed down, even though only like 2 tables were empty by my area... even the people next to were getting impatient and they were here before me... couldnt take it anymore and left and let the manager know of the shit show they are running...If your going to eat ayce, go to Klondikes in Santa Maria... I get offered more pizza there in 20 minutes than I did here in AG... and I go to the one in Santa Maria when it "slows down"...  never coming back to the AG Klondike again.. that's for sure.. if I can give them zero stars, I definitely would

My favorite pizza place ever. I've been eating here for over 20 years.  It is a unique experience.  Sawdust on the floors.  Peanuts to shell and toss on the sawdust.  The lights flicker and the player piano sings. There are arcade games and beer on tap,  and there's moose and giant mosquitoes to remind you of Alaska.  The pizza is also unique.  The red sauce doesn't taste like your ordinary pizza sauce.  I love it,  but some people think it's unusual.  The white garlic sauce is amazing.  Toppings include reindeer sausage.  Tuesday is all you call eat night and you can try different slices as they bring them around the tables.  Come another night if you only like pepperoni.  The price of the pizza is a little higher than Domino's and it's worth every penny.

  • Aug 27, 2019 by Gen J.

I've been coming here since I was a kid on family road trips. We always stopped in at the cute little town of Arroyo Grande walked around the downtown and had pizza.  Shocked to see some of the reviews, I've never had anything but a great experience here.  Friendly fast service and a family vibe. Yesterday we stopped in and they were having a game night which was really cool,  the pizza was perfect and the little side salad was delish! I'll continue coming back as long as they're open.

My dad and I were passed twice in all you can eat pizza. One time, my dad said he would like a slice (Only he wanted it) and there was two left. They gave the other two to a group of six. I advise you to wait to be seated in the front rather than in the back, at the back Its really only the pizza no one else wanted.

Our FAVORITE Pizza place. Just took the whole family here for my birthday. We got here an hour before closing - and the staff still treated us like royalty. The pizza (ROADKILL is the best!) was exceptional as always. Two thumbs way up!!!

  • Aug 10, 2019 by jacquie Benoit

Pizza was tasty but the restaurant had a funky smell. Staff was very nice. Price was okay for what you got.

  • Aug 10, 2019 by Sarah E.

Hit and miss on service but the pizza is always good. The Denali with white sauce is our favorite!! Fresh ingredients and convenient location keeps us coming back. The "All you can eat" on Tuesdays is fun.... but don't be picky- if a pizza comes around, ask for a slice because depending on how busy it is you might not get another slice for a while.

  • Aug 08, 2019 by Mary Hernandez

8/06/19 It differently was not the best pizza for us. We had the extra large 16" $27.99 Denali that had no flavor. And we also had the garlic sauce. Not the red sauce. It's a fun place for the kids. But we won't be back.:(

I was told the pizza was "the best" here....let's just say it was opposite day today. The chicken on the pizza had absolutely no flavor, the dough was meh...it's just not worth it.

  • Jul 27, 2019 by Yvonne C.

So dissappointed with the service, particularly the team member who took our order.  Never smiled and almost seemed annoyed that we were there.  We waited 30 minutes for a table but could not order a pizza until we sat at the table so when we ordered, they said it would be a 45 minute wait.  It was a policy that they had.  They also had a policy that said that if your whole party is not there, they will not seat you.  5 of the 15 were missing and about 3 minutes away.  I didn't know that Klondike took reservations but apparently we were told that they did and we should have done that.  We left. I have been coming to this Klondike for over 20 years but the last couple of times have been horrendous.  Need new servers and quick.  Two parties left when we were there because of atrocious service.  Pizza is good but not that good to be treated like a second class citizen.

  • Jul 24, 2019 by Darcy Swords

Great, unique place. The servers are very sweet. Definitely worth stopping in to try!

  • Jul 23, 2019 by Kj D.

We came for the all you can eat pizza and salad. The salad bar was nice and the atmosphere was great for the kids. The pizza was so so. We were disappointed to find out that not all of their pizzas are part of the deal - so no chicken specialties at all. This was disappointing as it was the main reason to try it out - I'm a big fan of buffalo chicken pizza. Anyway, for the price it's not so bad. The white garlic sauce is definitely better than the red sauce. The crust is a little hard and the overall toppings lack a robust flavor.

  • Jul 21, 2019 by Evhan B.

This place is a great reliable pizza. Not the best I've had but defiantly up there is quality and taste. Great down to earth and local feel inside. Great for families as they have an arcade and you can throw your peanut shells on the floor! A little pricey I think but that's just me. Overall really like the flavor and atmosphere. I would go back and that's always a good sign.

  • Jul 06, 2019 by Ali Mohammadkhan

We were driving from out of town, we wanted to make an order by phone and pick it up at 10:05 (5 minutes after they are closed. First they said it is fine. We spend time to select our pizzas and when we wanted to make the order they said they won't take order because they are closed at 10 sharp. If they had said it at first I could understand, but this changing their mind in few minutes was really disappointing.

I've come here since I was a teenager in the early 90's when visiting the beach! I finally got to share it with my husband and he loves it as well! He loved the peanuts and relaxed ambiance!
Staff is great! Food is hot & tasty! I'm a garlic sauce kinda gal so that's my bias but you have to try it! It is SO good! Plenty of toppings that it barely looks like they have a crust. Yuuuummmm!!!

Klondikes is very good to our group that comes in about 4x a year.  We take over a good portion of the restaurant.  We enjoy ourselves every time.  We leave stuffed and packing leftovers. Thanks dor taking such good care of us.

  • Jun 12, 2019 by chris c.

Always good.   I'd rate the pizza a solid four .  It's a very good pizza.  The sauce is solid and the cheese is also  tasty.  The crust isn't too thin ( my favorite ) but has a nice crisp bottom and some good chew to it.  The staff is always super cool. Wish they had better local ipa selection. Will be back soon

  • Jun 11, 2019 by Patrick Wineman

Klondike pizza is a special place. We enjoy a number of different pizzas there: the meat-lovers roadkill, to vegetarian, to supreme, or a basic pepperoni and sausage. I also like that they have a handful of inexpensive video games for the kids to play. Plus, I can’t resist eating peanuts and tossing the shells on the floor. Klondike is a fun stop for pizza in Arroyo Grande.

  • Jun 07, 2019 by Teresa Forrester

Fun family night. Kids loved the peanut shells on the floor aspect. Great family eating in the beautiful village of Arroyo Grande... Don't forget to check out the walk along the creek!

  • May 28, 2019 by Dave L.

Klondike is a "must-do/must-have" when I'm town visiting friends.  The staff is attentive, fun & sometimes sassy which makes for a fun time. The peanut floor is great cuz where else can you throw the shells on the floor and you don't get yelled at.  The pizza is always cooked thoroughly & never shy on toppings or flavor.  You won't be disappointed.  The wait can be long but worth it as it is a family place and tables of 7-15 ppl are a constant.  Always looking forward to the next time!

  • May 07, 2019 by zmootth

some of the best pizza out there! They have an all-you-can-eat Tuesday that is to die for you can try all the different kinds of amazing pizzas they have. The player piano was broken the last few times we went

  • May 03, 2019 by Julian Martinez

Whenever we're looking for pizza in AG, Klondike's where it's at. Pizza is good, salty, fresh toppings. The restaurant is noisy- like a family pizza place should be. Used to be able to toss peanut shells on the floor, but I think that's gone now. Video games! Piano. Cool Alaskan memorabilia. It's also in the basement of the building which is kinda special.

  • Apr 24, 2019 by Max Evans

Great place for adults and bring the kids they will love it too. Nice arcade nice people delicious food. Can't wait to come back! Wild story on how the place got started. I like that.

  • Apr 21, 2019 by Chrissy M.

I'm not one to leave reviews.. but my family has been going to Klondike's for years.. but sadly we will never go back! The customer service unfortunately has went down hill.

  • Apr 16, 2019 by Evelyn P.

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE experience! We went to all you can eat and received a name so we can get called up when there is a table available. They said it would take 10 to 15 min so we decided to wait. We waited and waited for about 40-50 min, and then noticed other people getting seated that came AFTER us (it was just my boyfriend and I) so I got up and asked for a refund. Turns out the guy working there threw away the paper that we where on the wait list for. We where so upset. I very nicely and politely asked to please refund me so they got what seemed to be the manager I believe  her name was OLIVIA the lady who usually talks a bit too much. She had the NERVE to tell me "I'm sorry but next time you need to speak up"... I could have easily said EXCUSE me? For you to run a business and tell me who has been coming for a long time that I need to speak up when it was your staffs fault!!!! Was soo disrespectful! WE ARE NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN!! SHE Never even offered a coupon or anything! Didn't give a crap! Also their staff does not serve fairly at all they serve the same tables and forget about couples.SO DONE with this place..crappy and SHITTY managers and staff that don't give a shit about their customers. LOOSING business a couple at a time. Smh

  • Apr 09, 2019 by Megan LeBlanc

Great creative pizzas, probably the only place I've seen reindeer sausage outside Alaska. It's a fun spot for families with arcade games and peanut shells on the floor. I recommend their garlic sauce if you like garlic.

  • Apr 07, 2019 by Da L.

Best pizza in the 5 cities area, Tuesdays all you can eat is the best. Love the environment and the food. 1 out of 10 I give the pizza a 9.6 and the pizza sauce a 10. If you haven't been go now.

  • Apr 06, 2019 by Collin Hoffman

Good pizza, friendly staff, and cool building. Beware: I went on a Friday night and it was very crowded so look out for the lines. Definitely worth it though, great pizza

  • Apr 03, 2019 by Jacq Npacct

I haven't been here in several years and I was quite surprised and happy with the updated changes. The seating is much more comfortable and efficient. And the pizza, of course, was delicious! Even the simple pepperoni pie!

  • Apr 03, 2019 by Jamie H.

I do not want to leave this review... I have been coming here since I was a child, and always loved it.  Well tonight we got a pizza to go... I have never seen slices of cheese on a pizza (Kraft slices) like that.  We each had a slice and felt sick.  So sad and disappointed.  I love this place.  What's up klondikes?!?

  • Apr 01, 2019 by Christine H.

This place came highly recommended by a friend so we decided to try it out while visiting Pismo Beach. Besides one family dining, we were the only ones in the restaurant. The service was so-so...the staff could be a lot more welcoming and at least smile. It took about 25 minutes to get our pizza and by this time we were the only ones in the restaurant. We ordered the veggie pizza and it lacked flavor because I don't think there was little if any sauce on it...disappointing

  • Mar 29, 2019 by Ashlee A.

Wonderful staff, pizza, location, atmosphere! Great place to bring your family for a weeknight treat or even host your sports team or event in their back room. Keep up the great work guys. Can't wait to come back and have some veggie slices with red sauce, my fave.

  • Mar 26, 2019 by Laura Fisher

Great service and the best pizza in the area. Love the gluten free option! Thank you!

  • Mar 26, 2019 by Laura Best

Friendly service, but they messed up on our order and took a really long time to bring out the right pizza. Their Hawaiian style pizza is our favorite. Always a lot of toppings.

  • Mar 26, 2019 by Crystal D.

We went in for family night. All you can eat pizza, salad bar, and drinks for 2 adults, a hungry teen, and a toddler was $40. I think you get your moneys worth. The employees come around to your table with different types of pizza to choose from. The salad bar was very "meh". Not much in the way of choices. Overall a good value. Do NOT go to Klondike pizza if you have a bit allergy. There are peanuts and shells all over!!

  • Mar 14, 2019 by Mike Kodaj

Awesome atmosphere. Alaska theme. Pizza is unique and delicious.

  • Feb 15, 2019 by Steve R.

Been coming here for 15+ years! Pizza is outstanding! They even have pinball and old school videos games for kids and adults! Service is always great! Free peanuts!

  • Feb 06, 2019 by Kaye R.

Generally, I like Klondike but, sitting with 6 people at a table for 4 drinking canned Firestone beer while waiting for the "Pizza and Beer Tasting Event" to start, I'm not feeling it tonight. We got a "welcome" beer then proceeded to sit without pizza, more beer, or an explanation. The event started 20 minutes ago and we're still sitting with empty glasses and no pizza.

  • Feb 02, 2019 by Norm E.

I'm a pizza guy. I've worked at three different pizza places while going through college- so I DIDN'T have to work at a pizza place. I managed two of them. Now that I'm retired, I STILL work at a pizza place. Klondikes is simply awesome. I have no idea how they can do an all you can eat on Tuesday with a deck oven. Nice crust,  plenty of toppings, and great service. Go here. Eat here.

  • Jan 15, 2019 by Ron Blakley

The pizza is great. The service is slow because it's fresh not frozen. The people working there are friendly. You will have a good experience.

  • Jan 14, 2019 by Anastasia M.

This is a local "hole in the wall" with amazing pizza. Good customer service and a small arcade for the kids to play in, fun for the whole family !

  • Jan 13, 2019 by Amber M

Love this place! Great food, service & atmosphere! Please add vegan cheese to your topping options!

  • Jan 10, 2019 by Randy Kielan

Great pizza and amazing salads! They also have a great selection of games and a festive atmosphere! We always have a great time with family and friends here! Love this place. Great people and great food!

  • Jan 08, 2019 by Debra Vergara

Friendly staff and a fun atmosphere, but the pizza just didn't taste right. We had pepperoni/olive which is hard to mess up but the sauce was weird tasting. And the BBQ chicken pizza was just too sweet.

  • Jan 02, 2019 by Antonio Barata

Something of an institution in the Village of Arroyo Grande. Yes, it changed a bit in quality after the original owners moved on, but still fun, even s bit quirky in decor, but unpretentious and good pizza. Great place for families, groups, etc. Can get busy at peak times.

  • Dec 30, 2018 by Brian S.

The pizza is tasty (average but not stellar) but the staff has no idea how to run a restaurant. The manager was flustered and clueless; running around yelling random orders to her staff who clearly doesn't know what she's talking about. And seriously...a full hour and 20 minute wait to make ONE PIZZA? We were seated without being told that you have to leave your table and go to the end of the line and wait to place your order. Nice to know beforehand. Cashier messed up order 3 times. The most amazing thing was when the manager told the family behind me that they couldn't get their pizza THAT THEY HAD ORDERED VIA PHONE 45 minutes ago, because she thought it would anger the other dine-in guests who have been waiting an hour for their meal. Nobody in line could believe what they were hearing. Only one person bringing food to very frustrated tables (she was the happiest and best employee in the place from what I could tell) - and people were getting annoyed by the fact they could see the guys in the kitchen...not in any rush to get orders moving, just joking around and drinking soda from pitchers. Way overpriced for average pizza and an establishment that has plenty of potential but an absolutely terrible way of doing business. This place is is a joke.  Won't be back.

The pizza was bad. The staff was rude. Our server cursed in front of my 6 and 4 year old. The manager could not have cared less and tried to lecture me. She said the server was new. I don't know what that had to do with anything. I paid full price so I don't get why that should effect me.

Great family place to go out to, just don't be a clean freak.  There is dirt and peanut shells on the floor but don't worry it's supposed to be there.  Yummy pizza and decent price plus great burgers.  I played video games with my son whale we waited.  I will be back for sure and try the Santa Pizza.

  • Dec 04, 2018 by Michael Hall / Brennan

The employee's were very friendly. The pizza is awesome. In my opinion it's the best in town.

  • Dec 03, 2018 by Vikas Kapoor

I enjoy going there every single time. Love eating peanuts while waiting for breadsticks and throwing the shells on the ground.

  • Dec 03, 2018 by Benjamin P.

Over the years we have visited Klondike Pizza many times.  For whatever reason the service and quality has gone way down. During our most recent visit it took us near an hour to get our pizza and the place didn't seem that busy.  They had a stop sign up saying, 'wait to be seated' but we couldn't find anyone to seat us. They had one cashier and about 4 or 5 people in the back, I assume making pizzas?  I'm not so sure what was going on with the pizza sauce, it seemed overly sweet this time. I recall during our previous  visit before this one, after one hour we checked on our pizza and they forgot to make it.

  • Nov 27, 2018 by Matt S.

It was fun to go in here after over twenty years away... the place still looks the same, and the pies still taste great! If you're looking for a fun, family friendly environment - Klondike is a great choice. The only real knock that I have is the pricing. A mini pizza and a beer cost me $20!! That's spendy!!

  • Nov 21, 2018 by Sophia G.

Always delicious. Order at least 2x a month and the sauce is always spot on. Crust is just crispy enough. No other oven baked pizzas compare!

  • Nov 20, 2018 by Nick Berry

Great pizza, fun ambiance. It can get busy so get there early!

  • Nov 14, 2018 by Steven Hedrick

Most excellent! Great people in a very earthy atmosphere. Enjoy shelling eating peanut while you wait. Just throw the shells on the floor. We enjoyed the pineapple and ham pizza. A small was plenty for two people.

  • Nov 14, 2018 by Daniel Y.

Fun place to bring the family. Came here on a Saturday evening at 4:30pm and it was only fairly busy. Enjoyed the peanuts for the appetizer while the kids play video games. Pizza was cooked nicely, and customer service was nice. By 6:00pm this place was very full. People were waiting long times and the staff was getting a bit hectic, by this time we were done and decided to get out as the line was getting longer. Overall, fun place to visit, peak hours get busy.

  • Nov 03, 2018 by Lisa J.

Don't know how good the pizza is yet as I am going on an hour now waiting for my order

  • Oct 19, 2018 by Rochelle C.

Been to Klondike's many times over the years generally good service and food. This time it appears they may either have a new manager or just done some poor quick hiring. The young staff seating customers and bringing out food were informal rushed and impolite. One guy went to seat an elderly couple and told them "if you want a table follow me" the confused elderly couple slowly followed Our pizzas were brought out separately by a different guy who set down rusted plates then the pizza and walked away without a word. Didn't ask if we needed anything else. They weren't busy the dining room was maybe half full with small parties of people. If we get Klondike's again we will get it to go

  • Sep 29, 2018 by Chantal H.

The pizza here is great and the staff is friendly. However I came here for all you can eat which is $10.75 per person and my fiancé and I sat in the back area near the arcades and we rarely had a server bring pizza around. We would watch the servers predominantly go to the other side of the restaurant while we waited to be served. Also one of the servers knew a group of people that were in our area and he would go straight to them each time and give them multiple slices of pizza when they already had some on their plates still. Very frustrating especially because we were very hungry.

  • Sep 25, 2018 by Lynda P.

Delicious! Not sure why the negative reviews, but our service and pizza was excellent! The crust was just right! Crispy bottom, but soft top and lots of cheese and ingredients. Yes there's peanut shells and their dust on the floor, but that's part of the theme. I felt the establishment was very clean and would definitely come back again! As for high prices, we purchased a small Hawaiian and two drinks for $22 and it was plenty. The pizza was larger than the avg small, we had leftovers. At $11 per person that's about what you pay for bad fast food now.

  • Sep 12, 2018 by Gregory Mundy

Holy wow! Love the vibe and feel of this place. It does remind me of how a pizza joint in Alaska would feel and transports me back there! We went for all you can eat Tuesdays! I loved every pizza I sampled. Really friendly staff too!

  • Sep 05, 2018 by A Google User

Asked the locals where was a great pizza they highly recommend this place very nice friendly staff. Pizza was piled with lots of veggies their salad was plenty to fill you up very nice patio to sit outside enjoy the weather cool breeze. Lots of little shops to walk to will definitely go back can't wait to go back they also had other food items but I will have to try over a few more visits lol sodas and tea are free refills and will definitely try other pizzas enough room to take a party of 15 people that's how roomy it is in the patio.

Great pizza! Always friendly staff... Never a bad experience.

  • Aug 17, 2018 by Danielle S.

I would give NO Stars...WAYYYYY overpriced pizza thats not even good...... loud, rude management that barks orders at their employees.... i wouldnt give them a penny of my money....Olivia (a specific manager) is quite rude and has discriminated and harassed my daughter. An employee.....shes singeled my daughter outand they pick favorites....... this place is nasty and should be shut down...... at least get new management who knows how to talk to the teenagers they hire..... Loooking at the reviews im not the only one who thinks this place is not worthy of being open....but hey, if you want to spend 75.00 and wait an hour...thats your choice!

  • Aug 13, 2018 by Johnny Oaks

    Great all around!

  • Aug 07, 2018 by Gary D

Great place to eat. Food and service are awesome. The all you can eat Tuesday has been getting worse over the years. There is always an abundance of the basic pizza available. So if your looking for cheese or pepperoni you shouldn't have a problem. But if you wait for pizzas with more toopings, you will be there for sometime waiting.

  • Aug 07, 2018 by Pete S.

Nice pies, outside of the crust having the texture of cardboard. Hearty toppings, great atmosphere and plenty of free peanuts to enjoy. Come on down, y'all!

  • Aug 05, 2018 by John C.

I  Arroyo Grande twice a year, and this is a must for pizza. We visited on August 3, 2018. I stumbled upon this gem a few years ago (been going to Arroyo for years and never knew it was there) and it made it on the "to-do" list each visit.  Food was exceptional and will be back again. The ONLY thing I can say that must be improved is more staffing at the check in counter, 1 person taking orders on a Fri/Sat night just doesn't work. The line gets to long and I can honestly say people were leaving without ordering.  Same with the drink counter. Otherwise they have the staffing in order. See you in November!!!!

  • Aug 03, 2018 by Joel T.

Been coming here for over 25 years! Continues to deliver the best pizza on the planet!  Just drove from LA for a Denali and a custom pep. Pineapple and Garlic!

  • Jul 31, 2018 by Alyx M.

Such a cool environment! Been going here since I was a baby. Even had my birthdays here. Now I bring my son here! Best Hawaiian pizza and the cheesy bread is amazing!

  • Jul 29, 2018 by Jimmy S.

Typically the pizza hear is awesome, but unfortunately for user caught this place on a bad day. I've been coming here for over 25 years, & this pizza has been somewhat of a treat to get.  Today we ordered a couple of pizzas to be picked up. The people behind the counter were very nice & friendly. When our pies came out, the lady behind the counter opened the boxes & presumably checked our pizzas to make sure that they were correct. The toppings were correct, but to our dismay when we got home, we found it burnt. I figured that when the lady looked at our pizza she was checking for quality too, I was wrong. I get it that some days are better than others, but for the cooks AND the counter staff to believe this was acceptable is disappointing, especially for the price of the food.  It'll probably be a while before we come back, hopefully by then the staff will be putting a better product out then.

  • Jul 27, 2018 by Rudy V.

Nice place,  long wait for pizza,  hr wait soo far, just hope the food is good,  since I'm waiting,  I've filled up on peanuts n garlic bread

  • Jul 26, 2018 by Monica Torrez

Best thing about this place is the ambiance and the service. If this spot did not have significance to my family I would never return. The pizza is lackluster. Just kinda sucks really and it is insanely over priced for no reason really.

  • Jul 25, 2018 by Taylor M.

It had been a while since coming in so a coworker and I went in on our lunch break. That was a mistake, they take forever, and it wasn't that busy. The girls behind the counter were less than friendly, hardly helpful and I'm not sure they knew how to smile. Our two mini pizza's and two salads took close to 40 minutes to come out, so by that time we had to ask for them to be boxed up. Once we got back to work i was super disappointed to find half of my pizza crust burnt and way more sauce than cheese or toppings...and my salad was a joke. It was literally lettuce thrown in a container. So for the quality and price, I don't think we'll go back.

  • Jul 23, 2018 by Stephen A.

My favorite pizza place in the whole world! nothing compares in my opinion. I can't get enough hope they never close!

  • Jul 17, 2018 by Jessica K

Pizza was okay but lacking flavor. There was a small woman who took our order who was not very kind. We received 2 pizzas and one was not what we ordered but the waitress was very apologetic and refunded us for the mistaken pizza. It was a neat environment and the gentleman who seated us was very kind and helpful!

  • Jul 17, 2018 by Robert D.

Have been going and eating the pizza here for years and its one of our favorites, especially Tuesday nights and I am sad to say it won't happen any longer. First off how they manage the floor now is nothing short of ridiculous saying " I will be your server" and than spending more time on the other side of room than the one your serving!? and this has happen the last three times we've visited and than the blend of pizzas I don't prefer white sauce, but you get baraged with 8 in a row!? and the same with reds ten minutes later, come on mix it up!!!. And then the final straw was; seated at 6:55p. 7:15p no pizzas at all!!!!  7:30p still no pizzas, meltdown begins and finally lone knees knocking server expresses "We have had a problem in our kitchen" !!??? BUT I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL TO GO ORDERS FLYING OUT THE DOOR!. Manager has vanished all this time and I know this why? because she has a very distinct voice, almost shrills when she talks!!!! It has just become a huge drag going there and it's sad that the owner no longer gives two nickels about a place that was pretty dang good once. Wish I could a glowing review but alas the past is gone!

  • Jul 15, 2018 by M L.

Lettuce on burger tasted terrible, meat burnt. bread tasteless. Kids say pizza was good, but don't buy minis for $14. two of those is less volume than the 14 inch and $8. more, but they wouldn't do 1/2s when sauce was different. Also, took an hour to get our order. After 45 min came to table to ask questions they should have asked when we ordered. Will never go again.

  • Jul 13, 2018 by Johnny Z.

This is hands down the best pizza I have ever had. I've been coming here as well as the Santa Maria location for over 10 years. It's a charming place and the pizza is beyond fantastic. I don't know what their secret is but it makes me shiver with pure ecstasy with every bite.

  • Jul 11, 2018 by J W.

We were in town and I wanted to get some pizza and it was scorching hot...on the coast? So Alaska themed sounded appealing! It was a surprise to feel crunchy dirt touch my foot as I stepped inside, but it was from a decade of throwing peanut shells on the floor. The prices seemed high at first but the make up for it with the quantity they give. But it's the QUALITY and service that are this restaurant's biggest issues. I ordered Hawaiian. The pizza tasted horrible, the crust was stiff and hard and the ranch was runny like liquid! I ordered water with our meal, but I had to go hunt down a worker 15 minutes later, who got it from behind the counter. Not a huge deal, but not anywhere near good service, especially on one of the hottest days of the summer. It was cool down there though, although the vibe with the peanut dirt floor felt unsanitary while I was eating. Maybe if the pizza had been good I wouldn't have noticed. I never leave pizza behind, but I did today.

AwwwHadn't been to Klondike Pizza in a long time....wnet in the other day and was pleasantly surprised.  They have new management it seems...the pizza was good as always but the service has vastly improved from prior visits!! The new manager Tami visited oyr table and introduced herself...it was refreshing.  We will definitely be back.

  • Jul 07, 2018 by Julia F.

Pizza is amazing don't get me wrong but the service is absolutely terrible! Customer service rating would be in the negatives if it would be possible. Try to order it to go highly recommended! It all falls back on management!!! C'mon guys something must change.

  • Jul 02, 2018 by Aurora Baron

Fun and unique place with good pizza. They offer you free peanuts and you toss the shells on the floor... tons of peanut shells. The Road Kill, their version of a meat lovers pizza and the Denali, their combination pizza are the best! Their garlic oil sauce is great to mix in with their ranch and red sauce. Great place in town.

  • Jun 22, 2018 by Ed K.

Klondike Pizza your dead to me. Worst service ever.  Why go back. Would get no stars but the pizza is good. Last year tried the Tuesday all you can eat. Terrrible service. Four of our group were vegetarians. No veggie pizzas where being delivered. After a 1/2 hour or so spoke to the lady manager asking for at least on veggie pizza. She said in essence what ever comes out of the kichen is what you get. No special orders.  Tonigh we ate in. Same awaful service.  Waited forever for our pizza.  Same lady manager gave us a lame excuse and said they are expediting our pizza. It took another 25 minutes to get the pizza.  People that were seated after us got their pizza first. As the manager delivered pizza to them she would not even look at our table or acknowledge us. How rude. No more Klondike Pizza for this family.

  • Jun 22, 2018 by Gabriel B.

This place would get 4 or 5 stars but the service is brutal. After coming to the Tuesday night all you can eat as a family, and the service being terrible, we decided to just come in a regular night. It wasn't better.... We ordered salads and pizzas. They sent the salads to the wrong table. Then they sent one pizza to the wrong table and dropped one on the floor. They had to remake both. It already takes forever at this place but it really takes a long time when they need to remake everything. How can a place that makes such great pizza have such terrible service?  My guess is they don't care. That was our 5th and last time. Although I'm curious to know if they can also mess up to go orders.

  • Jun 13, 2018 by Leto A.

Service was bad. We asked if they sold chicken and the response was rude, " we don't sell anything fried." I'm passing by returning from beach and won't be back. Food was ok and over priced. Having family from Alaska we thought we should check this place out. Bad idea.

  • Jun 03, 2018 by Trina Pena

Overal the experience was nice. great decor friendly service. very friendly servers, pizza was a bit on the bland side but we added sweet and sour sauce and fixed it right up.

  • May 28, 2018 by My S.

If you're craving a pizza and driving through on the 101 fwy from Central Coast.....This place is delish! Love the way they make their pizza where the cheese goes all the way off the crust so there isn't really a crust! Also it's the perfect thickness with just the right crunch on the bottom of the crust. We had a mushroom pepperoni zucchini and their Italians salad and it was really good!

  • May 22, 2018 by Don P.

Holy Moses! You kidding me that I haven't done a review of Klondike's? Wifey and I have been coming here for over 20 years. Ahh...the stories! We had our first date here. What keeps us coming back here? Denali's with red sauce, ranch dressing, and being able to chuck yer peanuts on the floor. Good times. This place is quirky. The decor is Alaskan hoarder. Not many places on the Central Coast has an eating establishment with a moose head, automated piano, ski poles, flags, boxing gloves, and Christmas lights. That's only the beginning. The food is wonderful. It is a family pizza joint so you have to keep a certain perspective. We absolutely love their red sauce and the ranch salad dressing. We have tried their white sauce on All you Can Eat Tuesday but it doesn't compare to their red sauce. The usual pizza we order is their Denali's with red sauce which is their combo. If you want to sample all of their pizzas, come on Tuesdays as it's all you can eat for 8.99 for oldies and 5.99 for young'ins. I give it 5 stars as for its food and all the good times we've had here.

Roadkill pizza is a great choice if you want all the meats.

  • May 16, 2018 by Eric

Tuesday night, 5-9, all you can eat pizza.

  • May 12, 2018 by Jack Houston

Been here many times, tonight not a good experience. One of the pizza's should not have been served. After waiting for an hour it arrived so burned it was inedible. Am now going on half an hour for the replacement. We have lost our appetite. I did notice ours was not the only burned pizza being returned. Probably our last visit to Klondike Pizza. So sad.

Follow-up: Waited for over another hour for the replacement. Staff were very apologetic. Gave us a coupon for a free xtra large pizza. Don't know what was happening. Guess I'll return at least once to redeem the free pizza. I have no complaints about the dining room staff. They seemed very uncomfortable about the situation and apologized several times. Two hours a bit too long to wait for your pizza.

    Roadkill Pizza is the best!

  • Apr 20, 2018 by Kim Carr

Pizza is my favorite food...I had a friend tell me about Klondikes and I couldn't wait for my next work trip to the area to try it! This is now my go to pizza place. I've been here a couple times now. The BEST Buffalo chicken pizza I've ever tried. All I can say is WOW. They are pricey BUT the mini here is more than enough for one person so it is well worth the cost. The ingredients are so fresh and delish. If your in the area and you like pizza Klondikes is a must.

  • Apr 17, 2018 by Nicholas H.

There manager has poor manger skills, too many people doing very very very little, pizza sucked, white sauce cheese pizza 4 times around? I'm alright this place is as bunk and dirty as it's floor

  • Apr 07, 2018 by Brent Clavin

Klondike pizza is amazing! I have been to the Santa Maria location before, but this was my first time to the original location. It's a neat atmosphere where you get peanuts while you wait for your pizza, and you throw your shells on the floor. Personally, I love the roadkill on white (meat lover's-type special), and my wife likes the Denali on white (vegetarian-type special). We showed up around 5 pm on a Thursday, and there wasn't many people there at the time, so we only had to wait for the actual food to be made. I think it took about 10-15 minutes for the pizza to be made. The service was great, and the employees were extremely nice! We were there with my 18 month old boy and the employees had a high chair at the table ready and waiting for us.

There was also this nice little story about how the owners met. It was obviously a piece of fiction, but reading it was nice and helped pass the time. I wonder if they print these frequently with different stories. I'll have to go back and see if there's a new story!

It's a great place for a family, and a nice dinner out. I absolutely recommend it!

  • Apr 07, 2018 by Jim S.

Still great. I remember when Pam & Mike opened. It was a hit then, and still awesome. Peanut shells on the floor. Stuffed moose head on the wall, next to the player piano. Mike & Pam moved to AG from Alaska, bringing the decor with them. I had a baked sub sandwich today. Tasty. Loaded with meat, cheese, veggies. The signature pizza is loaded with Reindeer Sausage (explain that to your kid who still buys into Santa). The sauce has a small bite to it. If you like garlic, treat yourself to a pie with their White Sauce. Best anywhere.

  • Apr 01, 2018 by Crystal Wagener

All time favorite pizza. Love the atmosphere family friendly environment. Be prepared to wait, on a busy night it can be upwards of an hour to get your pizza. But there are arcade games for the bigger kids, and all you can eat peanuts till pizza arrives. But allergies be warned. Peanuts everywhere.

  • Mar 27, 2018 by Gil S.

Hands down the best pizza place in down!!! Klondike never disappoints.. the pizza is great and the beer is always cold!!!

  • Mar 15, 2018 by Jill G.

2 stars for the good Denali pizza that we had! But 1-2 topping pizza was a saucy mess, no flavor. Their manager seemed to micromange the place and employees. At one point an employee asked to box our pizza. We told him that it was no problem and that if he gave us a box, we'd box it ourselves, to which he responded, "I have to do it so I can squeeze it into the smallest box possible, these things cost way more money than you know."   don't think that's information or attitude that should be passed along to the customer. As we left, on the wall, we saw a cartoon drawing of the staff with a bright confederate flag. Yeah, it's gonna be a no from us dawg! Won't go back there again.

  • Mar 15, 2018 by Brenda W.

We were the first to enter around 5 pm ordered our pizza, and sat down, the place started filling up and after 45 minutes I went to the counter to see where our pizza was and the lady said its on the counter, I just need to find someone to bring it to you. So after waiting some more we finally got out pizza as so did other people who had arrived much later than us. The pizza sucked, it was warm and soggy. Wont come back because after  telling the lady who seemed to be in charged how dissapointed we were, we got was a  sorry dont waste your time here if you wont fresh hot good pizza

  • Mar 14, 2018 by Kathy F.

I love Klondike's  pizza and have for years.   But today at lunch the smell in the dining area is awful.   It's like a cross between cleaning fluid and something rotting.  I do wonder when the fabric(flags etc) from the ceiling was taken down an cleaned last?  Left with a nasty headache.    I think I'll get my pizza to go in the future.  The pizza was awesome as usual.

  • Feb 27, 2018 by Elisha

This place is great I could throw your peanut shells on the floor Pizza great come on Tuesdays it's all you can eat pizza and salad and garlic bread the best pizza is the Roadkill and they have games for the kids

  • Feb 26, 2018 by JP

First time visiting. A pizza joint in a basement. After waiting 40 minutes, no pizza. Apparently 'dropped' according to the restaurant team. A lovely worker by the name of Olivia came to the resue. She expedited our pizza and gave us salad. Super awesome service. Great pizza too.

  • Feb 25, 2018 by AJ Collins

Always a crowd favorite. My kids (and the adults) enjoy eating peanuts and tossing the shells on the ground. You will never run out of things to look at! ( It is a great location for an 'I Spy' game). The pizza crust is thick and chewy, while the sauce is just a tiny bit sweet. The cheese and other toppings taste fresh and not processed. The service is normally okay, sometimes a little slow because it is almost always busy. Bring your quarters, there are video games to play!!

  • Feb 23, 2018 by bingsythingsy

What kind of pizza will you create? Such a warm small town joint with amazing pies. A must for any length of stay down in San Luis.

  • Feb 18, 2018 by Richard M.

The only reason why im leaving 2 stars is because the quality of food is on point. The customer service the past 2 times i came here was horrible. Next time i get pizza from here i will get it to go! Customer service is VERY important to me and they have better service at McDonalds! I rarely have something negative to say and it takes a lot for me to write a bad review.

  • Feb 15, 2018 by Jody Perez

Good old school pizzeria that never disappoints. And a friendly, warm atmosphere to boot! And the local, wandering roosters outside are an added bonus! Yes, roosters galore! 'Ware!

  • Feb 12, 2018 by Shasta Arnold

This is probably the best pizza I have Ever had! Great cheese bread and a super cool place! This will be our new out of town spot!!

  • Feb 10, 2018 by Brittany Parsons

Pizza is yummy, and flavorful! The white sauce is tasty and the meatlovers pizza (Roadkill) is a favorite. Fun family-friendly atmosphere.
The shells from the peanuts they give you can be thrown right on the floor which is fun! The reason I gave 4 stars is that the staff is helpful and friendly but the wait time waiting for them to bring out your pizza is VERY long. Even on a night that was not very busy we waited an exceptionally long time for our salad and pizza to come. A busy night is one thing but the turn around time for the pizza needs to be quicker. I've come here for many years and it is usually a "normal" wait for your food but it has been quite a long wait the last few years.

  • Jan 27, 2018 by Edwin Martinez

Great atmosphere, food, prices, service and staff! Came in on a Friday night, it was really busy, had a small Hawaiian pizza, dinner salad and two root beers. It was more than enough food for two, leaving is with leftovers. Although there were lots of kids running around, thanks to all the signs, it was a pleasurable experience. Definitely worth the price, and the wait. The staff was very accommodating when we asked to move tables, to be in a warmer spot. We plan on coming back, weekly!

  • Jan 24, 2018 by Andy R.

We've been passing this restaurant promising to try it. Today is the day. Here are my impressions and food thoughts: 1.  Eclectic in a fun way. Peanuts and sawdust in the floors. Very 1980's retro. It was fun eating the peanuts awaiting my $7.99 lunch special:  Dinky Pizza & soda 2.  There is a small arcade with two pinball machines and several other amusement devices 3.  If you think you are going to get the real story about the restaurant "founding" and Klondike Alaska connection...dream on. On the tables and wall there are numerous "Stories". Each one is different and a fun read. I'm sure there is a kernel of truth in each one. Regardless, it adds to the uniqueness of the restaurant. 4.  My thoughts about the pizza. I liked the taste. BUT, (it's always the "BUT" in a sentence that takes away everything preceding it) the dough was dough-y. Frankly, it reminded me of a Roman frozen pizza not cooked enough. I informed the server but she wasn't very interested and you can tell that no one in the kitchen would ever know. Regardless, there are several things on the menu I want to try including raindeer sausage. I will update my review in the future. The restaurant is fun for those who are young and young at heart. A pleasant diversion if you are not rushed for lunch.

Best pizza ever. Normally love toppings on my pizza but they've perfected the Cheese pizza. Peanut shells on the floor, arcade games, have been coming here for 20 years and it still excites me to come here.

Great pizza! My husband and I took two of our granddaughters here for dinner. We all rated this place as a family. A very fun place, lots if funny signs and everyone there was very friendly. Fast service for being a full house.

Wow this place is horrible in terms of customer service.  Came here for lunch with 3 of my co-workers.  It was around noon. The place only had 2 people when we arrived.  We ordered our lunch meals.  We sat and waited.  My 2 co-workers received their salad 20 min after and their pizza 30 min after.  My other co worker received her sandwich 35 min after and I received my sandwich 40 min after.  There was a customer that ordered about 10 min after we sat down and he received his meal before us.  The waitress claimed there were only 1 person working in the back.  The meals were okay.  We left pretty pissed off.  My boss left a suggestions card and hopefully this establishment reads it.  I will never come back at this place.

We walked into this place on the Friday after Thanksgiving knowing it would be busy and the wait would be awhile. I had no idea the wait would be one hour and twenty two minutes! We asked twice what the wait would be and no one would give us a straight answer. When our order was taken the girl told us it would be "A long time" which doesn't mean anything to me. It was so long we all began to joke about it. It seemed like no one had food and everyone in the place was getting restless. It was so forever that I walked around the place to see how many tables had received their food. 4/15 tables had pizza. Only four! Thank goodness for the peanuts or the whole restaurant woulda starved. The dude at the drink station, Caleb, was such a hot mess. The drink line was long. He seemed like he was having a constant battle with the ice machine. He was beating the ice down with a bat and just generally sucking at filling cups quickly. The place and employees made me somewhat uncomfortable. Other than Tarah, who was by miles the best employee there, all the other workers just seemed annoyed and short tempered. I asked the person I thought was the manager, Olivia, for some boxes and she looked at my face and walked off. Then she was gone long enough for me to wonder if she was getting me a box or just ignoring me. All their signs posted at this "family restaurant" are kinda mean about children. I get that parents need to watch their bratty kids but posting multiple signs about them seems too much. If it weren't for Tarah, who was professional, kind and attentive, I would have given only one star.

I will start by acknowledging that the pizza was quite good.  Unfortunately the customer service was so bad that it ruined our first and only experience at Klondike's. Our order consisted of 2 pizzas, 2 orders of garlic cheese bread, 4 sides of ranch dressing, and 4 sodas.  Should be easy.  We ordered and were seated.  Got our drinks and peanuts and waited.  I know good pizza takes a while and I was with my hubby and friends, so no problem.  Then one pizza shows up.  Another 5 minutes and the second one shows up.  How do they not serve both pizzas at one time?  More problematic - where is the garlic cheese bread and ranch?  Flagged down a server who looked flustered beyond belief and asked.  She brought the ranch and told us they were cutting the garlic bread ... it would be right out. 15 minutes.  Nothing. We ask again and get a different story.   15 minutes more.  Nothing.  A third story.  And now they ask if we still want it or if they should wrap it to go.  I ordered garlic cheese bread.  I want my order and I want to eat it at the restaurant.   Finally, my friend approaches a woman who appears to be managerial and gets the next lie about the order.  I think she lies so much that she doesn't know who she told what, because she finally brings the bread to the table and tells us a completely different lie than what she told my friend at the counter. At this point we are so disillusioned with the place we get a box and leave.  I have worked in restaurants.  Errors happen.  However you own it and fix it immediately.  If they had been honest with us, I could be understanding.  Nevertheless the attitude from the manager and the incompetence of the staff (which I see as a direct reflection on management) means that this was my first and last visit.

  • Nov 25, 2017 by Ryan U.

The pizza is good. They have some different items that aren't run-of-the-mill: reindeer sausage (not Santa's, the menu specifies), chicken cordon bleu Pizza, etc. Service at the front counter was friendly and inviting. We arrived about 20 minutes before the dinner crowd. The problem is the kitchen. Our order includes two pizzas, two cheese breads, and 4 ranch. The pizzas came first, after about 45 minutes of waiting. We inquired about the ranch and cheese bread. We were told the bread was coming out of the oven and asked if we wanted the ranch now. The server brought the ranch and apologized for the pizza. 15 minutes later the story was the bread was being cut. 15 minutes again, and it was being boxed (we ordered for dine-in), another 15 minutes and it as now going in. The manager, while trying to be friendly offered 3 new excuses for why the bread wasn't done. Offered to refund if we didn't want it. When the bread came up, as I was speaking with her, she brought it to our table and gave a completely different excuse to the entire table as to why the bread was late. Overall, the food was decent, but the service ruined it. We won't be returning.

Love stopping at Klondike Pizza anytime we are near Arroyo Grande. They are very generous with their toppings and their pizza crust is awesome. Their biggest problem is that they are often too full to get a table, so best to go at off hours. Free salted peanuts to munch on while you wait for your pizza to come out.

  • Nov 20, 2017 by Katelyn Sweigart

My FAVORITE pizza place. The atmosphere is laid back, with peanut shells on the floor and bare beams covered in Christmas lights and bumper stickers. It has character up the wazoo with an Alaskan theme.

  • Nov 18, 2017 by Nick H.

I have been going here for about 20 years now, and have never experienced a bad pizza from here. If anyone tells you to order anything besides the pizza, tell them they're crazy. Order pizza here, it is excellent. Sometimes the line can get long and it takes awhile to get your order in. So be smart, and call in, don't blame the place for being slow because its busy, that doesn't make sense. Don't pay attention to anything less than 4 stars for this place, those people don't know good food, OR we're already having a bad day and blamed everything on Klondike's. I've definitely had many many different pizzas in my life, Klondike's is undoubtably the best around! Enjoi

Awesome Dinner after a long 200 mile relay. Great people that work there. Gotta love the pizza and peanuts..!!

  • Nov 10, 2017 by Phillip Booker

This place is very nostalgic for me. I've been going here since I was very young. Love the casual "peanuts on the floor" atmosphere. Great pizza.

  • Nov 04, 2017 by Brian Lopez

Alaskan themed pizza joint makes for a fun atmoshpere that is Kid and family friendly. Several custom pizza creations, salads, wine, beer you got it all. Probably a little more expensive than the mainstream chains but well worth the price.

  • Oct 28, 2017 by Jacob Racho-Luis

Always amazing food, service, and atmosphere. Love coming to Klondikes every time I'm in town! For some sweetness after a nice dinner, head across the street to Doc's for some incredible ice cream.

  • Oct 20, 2017 by Esmeralda L.

I'm not used to seeing a pizza joint like this one back home. I loved the feel of the place and the staff was very upbeat!  Really cool place to come and eat pizza. Must try the Klondike pizza!! Will def come back again!!

My two goods friends invited me to dinner at the AG resteraunt.  They chose to share a bacon and pineapple pizza. It was delivered to our table quickly and smelled and looked incredible. I had chose a hamburger and it was done to perfection. Mas was very helpful with our drinks. GREAT CREW, WE'LL BE BACK!!!

This is always a great place to go with friends. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is perfect. I've neither bad a bad experience here nor heard of one.

  • Aug 20, 2017 by toobookoo

The pizza and the actual pizza parlor itself is wonderful. My son and I are pizza lover's and we rate and compare all kinds of pizza places, especially one-off pizza places. The pizza is 5 stars! The prices are high so I would have given a 4 star rating but the positives make up for the negative of high prices.

  • Aug 12, 2017 by Sue R.

Loved this place.  Totally on the fly but the story of this restaurant, the games, the family atmosphere was great!  Both grandsons loved it!

  • Aug 09, 2017 by Marisa J.

Lately Yelp has been failing me but not today my friends, not today! This pizza here is mind blowing to say the least! I couldn't have been happier with our experience here. Service was excellent, pizza was excellent and it had a real down home vibe. Two thumbs up for sure, another demand for an excellent Yelp review from my son who was in pure pizza heaven. Superb!

We are sitting here with our to go boxes happier than ever. This experience was amazing and the pizza was so good! One of the best pizza places I've ever been to. Highly recommend

  • Aug 05, 2017 by Jim B.

We went here with our friends from idaho, their were 7 of us, we ordered 3 pizzas all were delicious, we vould not eat it all and we were from out of town had no way of saving it. We offered the rest of it to a family, they excepted it. The manager approached me and asked what was going on. I explained to him we ordered too much and did not want to waste this delicious pizza. He was very understanding and seated the family who enjoyed the pizza. I highly recommend this pizza. The wait was long but worth it. Great customer service. Also I told the manager that I have never had riendeer before and he cooked our table a sample, delicious. Love this place I highly recommend it.

  • Jul 04, 2017 by Lindsay N.

Cashier was kind of cranky. Waited to finish writing a previous ticket before even telling us she will be with us in a second. She could have at least said "I'll be with you in one moment" the pizza took about an hour to get to us but it was pretty packed in there so no complaining. Pizza was absolutely amazing. Well worth the visit

  • Jun 28, 2017 by Tom T.

Have had this pizza three times now and every time I have been left happy and satisfied. Pizza here is amazing along with the friendly staff. Always keeping on top of everything. Would highly recommend trying this place out. Thank you for the amazing service!

I only go on Tuesday's for the "all you can eat"

  • Jun 13, 2017 by David S.

Very good tasting pizza, though can be hit and miss (at least the Santa Maria one wasn't that great).  Though I do knock them off for the amount of time it takes to bring out the pizza.  Be prepared for a 20-30 minute wait.  First time I was there it was about 20 minutes, fairly busy (so I didn't think much of it). Second time I was there I was told a 30 minute wait (I needed to be somewhere, but need to bring the food, so i said okay since they'd said they'd tried to rush it through. Came back 25 minutes later and from the conversation, they never even started on the pizza, since the cashier scolded the pizza makers to start on it now.  Said 10 minutes.  Came back 10 minutes later and still it wasn't ready until 5-7 minutes later.  The pizza was delicious though (veggie x-large, with garlic sauce)

  • Jun 12, 2017 by Joan Costamza

  • May 29, 2017 by Joe Mallinson

A fun place to eat. Lots of vegetarian choices. You get to throw the peanut shells on the floor. The theme of the decorations is from Alaska.

Found myself in the middle of the Strawberry Festival in Arroyo Grande and hiked out to pick up our pizza from Klondike Pizza! I found camels and walked on a bridge I could see right through  but I did it and it was fun. They also have gluten free you guys! Welcome every time we visit. It is worth it every time.

  • May 06, 2017 by Logan C.

There pizza is awesome but there time frame and Service older later taking the money (everyone else was great) was horrible!! Ordered pizza to go at 615 they said 35-45 min so I arrive at 655 and they said pizza will be ready in 15 -20min I was like what happen? She said we got busy so I guess eating in take priority we'll anyway I ended up getting my pizza at 741 so from 35-45min finish time it didn't finish for 1hr and 25 mins that's over double and not even a sorry one of the people were eating with had to take it to go because it took so long and they were running late and not even a sorry for the delay or anything! And to top it off it wasn't even busy in there

This place is great#!I have my kids birthday parties here. It feels more like a family atmosphere. Abd the food great##

  • Apr 25, 2017 by Bernie W.

Went on Tuesday night to try out "20 pizzas" brought out (randomly) by the slice. It was a significant wait between slices, but that (as it turns) was a good thing. Sincerely, I've had better frozen pizzas. This is not good pizza. Had a good experience, other than the food. I haven't read the other reviews but did see the 4-star rating. I'm perplexed. This pizza is quite bad.  Go in to SLO and get a pie somewhere. Two stars for the concept and smiles.

  • Apr 16, 2017 by Miria M.

i like coming here. but to be honest it's more for the atmosphere than for the food. it's just a really fun, casual place to hang out. arcade games and peanut shells on the ground and really fun decor. the pizza is good, but pretty average. overall, a fun place to go grab a bite if you're not looking for the best pizza you've ever had.

  • Apr 12, 2017 by Jorgr P.

If I could give zero stars, I would. 10 years ago, Klondike Pizza kicked me and my partner out of their restaurant for being lesbians! We were told that they were a "family" restaurant. We hadn't been demonstrative either. I think we just touched hands for a second. In addition, we had to pay our bill even though we didn't get to take home our leftovers or finish our dinner. I now wish I hadn't paid our bill. We told all of our friends & co-workers about the above story and they've never returned to Klondike either. I'm writing this now, as I never got over the discrimination this restaurant did to us!!! I hope they've opened their minds in the past 10 years!

  • Feb 28, 2017 by Jill Mckenna

The service is outstanding! The management works just as hard as the staff and they have great communication and incredible team work!

  • Feb 21, 2017 by Amyy S.

5 stars for the crew . The team they have is absolutely amazing (despite the horrible lady who thinks she is in charge) The kids working have the BEST Personalities. Oh Especially Nate , a younger gentleman working their - he deserve a raise and a higher title . His friendly smile is awesome , but it's his funny demeanor that really drawls you in- while keeping it professional of course . We ate there on all you can eat buffet night - busy , crazy , loud and a lot of fun. The owner is very heartfelt and a local - he's the sweetest if you get a chance to talk with him   Ps : don't eat the garlic bread on all you can eat night , that's how you get full !!

  • Feb 17, 2017 by Derek Klemm

Wonderful pizza with a fun atmosphere. They give you peanuts while you wait and you throw the shells on the diet floor when you are done; trust me, it's encouraged! They also have an arcade game area to pass the time. Highly recommend.

  • Feb 12, 2017 by Elizabeth R.

love, love, love this place. it is so delicious!! The lines are usually a bit long, but that's because the pizza is popular. The only thing I wish they would do is have a separate pickup counter...ordering ahead of time saves the cooking time, but you still spend a while standing in line.

  • Feb 04, 2017 by Tabitha D.

This is an Arroyo Grande Classic! The food is delicious and the atmosphere is fun. The lighting is a little dim. There are games available, I recommend pac man, because who doesn't love that. I am a classic girl and usually order the same thing every time I go. But my family is a big fan of the meat lovers and Hawaiian style pizza. When you finish head over across the street to Docs for dessert.

  • Jan 30, 2017 by Robert D.

I had heard great things about Klondike's pizza, and it too, did not disappoint. The atmosphere was great, the food was great, and they even gave you free peanuts to eat and throw the shells on the floor! The food was a little bit pricy, but being at the beach I would expect it to be a bit more expensive. Paid with a 100$ bill, and received a bunch of small bills, so I asked if I could give her some change and recieve a larger bill instead. The waitress told me that she already counted out and basically didn't want to go do the math again. Kind of irritated me, but otherwise a great experience!!

  • Jan 26, 2017 by Chad Forrester

The pizza is good and the atmosphere is fun (but noisy). This place is fairly popular, so be prepared to wait if you are going around normal meal times.

  • Jan 22, 2017 by Tabitha S.

Customer since the 90's. Denali on white sauce or the Veggie on red are my go to pizzas. Great family environment. Highly recommend!

  • Jan 21, 2017 by Randy R.

Recently had lunch there on a Monday holiday. Got there just before lunch. We ordered 2 medium pizzas, a Road Kill & a Hawaiian, along with salads. We were told to have a seat anywhere, except at the reserved tables due to a party. Our food was brought out in a timely manner. The party( birthday ) had about 12 ladies, staff came and took their orders at their table. Also a number of families showed up. Staff assisted with getting high chairs for little ones. I thought the pizzas were good, did not skimp on toppings. The Hawaiian was better than most I have eaten. The decor is interesting & funny. There are games for the kids & adults. The staff on our visit was excellent, not only for us. But also for those around us. My wife and I visit central coast on a regular basis, and will visit this location again.

  • Jan 17, 2017 by April G.

This place is great for bringing your kids and sending them to the little arcade while you wait for your food! There are also card games, books, and mags by the soda pick up. We've been coming for several years, sometimes pizza is fast, sometimes you might wait for an hour and a half, you never know. We just come early and before we're starving and it doesn't matter. We're not really pizza eaters, we mostly come for the fun, but the pizza is fine; thin crust, lots of cheese. If you get a salad get the dressing on the side unless you like it drowned. Oh, don't go on Tuesday night unless you hate yourself or maybe you gave up your sanity for lent; it's a gorgefest madhouse down there.

  • Jan 12, 2017 by Dave J.

Really good pizza, my wife thinks it's the best ever! Nice atmosphere, but could use updated games in the arcade, service is slower than I would like and pizza is more on the expensive side.

  • Jan 08, 2017 by Pismo T.

Fabulous pizza located in quaint downtown Arroyo Grande. Favorite pizza is the Denali! Fun atmosphere! Play a board game while you eat peanuts at your table! Staff is friendly and competent! Great for parties or large groups! Tuesday nights are super busy, all-you-can-eat night. If you or someone in your group is allergic to peanuts, this is NOT the place for you!! Peanut shells cover the floors, is part of the ambiance.

  • Jan 07, 2017 by Robert H.

This place is the bomb. Got a pepperoni with extra red sauce and it was perfect. Nicole helped me and she was great! I would write more but the pin ball machine is calling my name.

  • Jan 04, 2017 by Krysten E.

This is honestly the best pizza I have ever eaten! Perfect amount of sauce, toppings and cheese cooked just right! Since we moved from the area, we make it a point to go every time we come back in town for a visit to stop and eat here. We usually get half pepperoni and half Hawaiian on white sauce...DELICIOUS! On Tuesdays they do have all you can eat night which can tend to get super busy, so if you're wanting to beat the crowd, get there early. It is super kid friendly. There is dirt on the floor and it is a place where you eat peanuts while you wait and the shells can go on the floor. I do wish the soda fountain station was where you could give yourself refills, but I understand why it is behind the counter too. The restaurant is in a basement, so there are no windows, but I love the setup. It kind of has an Alaska feel to it and there are light strands hanging from the ceiling. We did go on a Sunday night (I believe, may need to call and ask), and it was super fun! It was sing along night and the guy plays the piano, everyone gets a book of lyrics so everyone can participate! Hope you like it as much as we do!

  • Dec 27, 2016 by Salad Bar Queen

The lunch meal deals are so good. A perfect size for a mid day meal. If you come for all you can eat Tuesday I suggest you not eat all day and come early. Oh and just in case you were wondering...The crust is whole wheat! Shhhh, don't tell anyone they are getting a healthier dough. It tastes so damn good I don't know why anyone would care but I guess some do.

Final score: Get here ASAP and ASOP.

Hella good pizza. We got a pizza I think was called The Diablo. Awesome, filled with toppings and was very filling. Came here with 8 people and it was not a problem getting seated. Parking sucked and I got a ticket for making a left hand turn leaving this place. I like The Village but it can be a pain around lunch and parking totally sucks. Seriously though, get a self serve soda machine.

  • Nov 30, 2016 by Stephanie L.

It feels like I stepped into the Northern Exposure episode. Plaid table cloths, teenage cute employees, hot and fresh pizza, Alaska memorabilia galore from top to floor decorations. It's a feast for the eyes and stomach. There was a line since the Christmas parade was in progress. I got a glass of the Prohibition Red wine, $5, and my friend got the Alaskan Pale Ale beer. We got a small pizza. Half vegetarian and half pepperoni with a choice of red or garlic sauce. We opted for the red sauce. We paid and we get a number for the pizza to be served at our table. We get a basket of roasted, salted peanuts which we can toss the shells on the floor. The alcohol we get from a separate counter. There are a lot of families and kids. Its a nice place to relax where the families could be noisy and get a hearty meal.

  • Nov 27, 2016 by Jeff K.

We recently took a trip to Alaska and were complaining to a friend about the mediocre Pizza in SLO County. She recommended Klondike and said it had that Alaska flavor. I was pleasantly surprised with their pizza. It does taste like pizza in Alaska! Outstanding. Be advised that this place encourages fundraisers and can be incredibly busy, even without a fundraiser going on. We waited longer than usual; but it was worth the wait. Great crust, good fillings and reasonable prices. You order; they deliver so service isn't much of an issue. The atmosphere is very lively and fun with peanut shells on the floor. Oh, the peanuts are pretty good to start of as an appetizer of sorts. This is worth a try!

  • Nov 11, 2016 by Sherrie G.

We ordered the Denali and the sauce and ingredients were the freshest we have ever had. Great price for a top quality pizza. This is coming from a couple who is serious about their pizza! We got it to go and had a 20 min drive. Just imagine if we would have ate it there with a frosty beer. I also ordered a simple salad with veggies and was impressed. Home made tasting ranch!

  • Nov 05, 2016 by Sharon S.

Always good pizza! Great selection of toppings. I have found that the leftovers don't freeze well - do not taste all that good. Staff are always nice. I really wish they would dust the place. They have t-shirts hanging from the walls that have never been cleaned. There is little air circulation in there. Be prepared to wait for your pizza. I appreciate the peanuts they give you at your table. Nice that we can just drop the shells on the floor :) Cute arcade for kids as they wait for the pizza to be made. You end up spending more than you expected for lunch once the game playing begins. There is a coin machine if needed.

  • Oct 14, 2016 by Jackie H.

We were there with a group of 22 and there was a large group of 22 ahead of us on a Tuesday, all you can eat night.  It took forever to pay as they has 1 cashier and everyone in the group ahead of us paid separately and with 1 cashier it took forever.  Overall the pizza was good, but a couple of us got very sick the next day...  Diarrhea!!  not fun...We did enjoy the atmosphere as we have been to Alaska.

  • Oct 03, 2016 by Kyle Field

Tasty non-chain pizza that really hits the spot with an atmosphere that can't be beat.

I've been coming here for decades and absolutely love the place to this day.

The pizza here can't be beat. Hand made with lots of love and plenty of high quality toppings that all work together to make a pizza that is at the top of my best pizza list. 5 stars just for the pizza.

The atmosphere here is classic with Alaskan themed accessories and decor that give it a truly unique personality. On top of that, the floor is covered with peanut shells...and there are free peanuts to eat which make for great appetizers for the kids while the pizza is being made. I used to dig around through the peanut shells for lost quarters for the arcade games (hah!).

  • Sep 18, 2016 by Renee C.

We stopped in Arroyo Grande to have a steak; however, when we passed my Klondike and smelled the pizza. We had to change our mind. Cute family restaurant where you can play ping ball machines or pick a family game to play at your table. One of the best parts is you get to eat peanuts and drop the shells on the floor. The pizza what can I say. I am the mother of three teenagers so I know pizza. We made our own. Cheese with red sauce topped with mushrooms, black olives, tomatoes and ham. It was fantastic, crust not to thin or thick and crispy! I had limp crust. We ordered a small (which says for 2). We reheated half the pie at our hotel the next night to try to finish the pizza. Even great the second night! Will be back with the teens next trip!

  • Sep 04, 2016 by Georgia W.

Literally nestled in the hole of a wall, Klondike Pizza is a hidden gem. Upon arriving, you are happily greeted by the young team, and are prompted to order at the front and then seat yourself. My boyfriend and I decided on a 14" Garlic Chicken Pizza, made with white sauce, and had to pay extra for ranch and buffalo sauce for dipping, and with two beers (Bud Light and 805) also added to our check, we paid in total about $34.04. While the prices may seem a little steep, the ambience of the dining room is eccentric and unique. You enjoy a basket of peanuts while waiting for your food to arrive, and are encouraged to toss the shells on the hay-ridden floor. I would recommend this restaurant to all of those who enjoy a good pizza, and are interested in broadening your culinary horizons (they make a pizza made with Reindeer meat!)

Went to Klondikes tonight. We figured it would be quite busy on a Friday evening. There was a 45 min wait for pizza...which ended up being an hour. Not a big deal. What really sucked was the "hostess" or whatever the proper name is of the person who seats you. Karina was very unfriendly to me and my kids. Even they felt her rudeness. After an hour of waiting and a rude person we had pretty much lost our appetite. We ate one piece of pizza and left. On the bright side...the girl we refilled our drinks was very friendly.

The staff is always nice.  The quality is good. My advice is to let them know to go light on the cheese.  Otherwise, there's so much, it's obscene.

  • Jul 26, 2016 by Tiffanie C.

A great unique experience!  Fun names given by hostess when checking in, awesome names of pizzas (road kill, Denali, and Klondike just to name a few) and the ability to throw your peanut shells on the ground without being frowned upon! Overall, it was a dining experience I will never forget. Ambiance, food, and service were ON POINT ALL THE WAY!

    Great atmosphere and food!

  • Jul 16, 2016 by Ed C.

Fantastic Pizza. The staff is very friendly and the pizza is great. The downstairs location makes it kind of hidden from the main street. This would be a five star rating if the wait to get the pizza was just a bit shorter and the restaurant was just a bit less "closed" feeling from being in the basement.

  • Jul 09, 2016 by Ron W.

Fun quirky place to go to if you like having a good time throwing peanut shells on the floor and lots of knick-knacks this is a great place to go the pizza is very good thinner crust than many places a very good tomato-based sauce and service is very good

  • Jul 07, 2016 by Donald Scott

By far the best pizza, and the best pizza experience this side of Moose's in Kalispell, Montana. I always take out of town guests to Klondike, for the fine food, great atmosphere, and the wonderful service. My favorite story is about the…

Always great pizza, I live 150 miles away and whenever Im here I've gotta go get the best Pizza on the central coast. Great time as always thank you

  • Jul 03, 2016 by Liz V.

This is a unique place I have to say but I loved it the pizza here is delicious and the whole peanut thing was something else but I enjoyed me some peanuts I had the Hawaiian pizza and it's really good my hubby had the roadkill pizza and that was also good and not to mention the garlic bread pretty good I really enjoyed the sing a long which is on the first and third Saturday's of the month from 6:30 to 9 this was something totally different from my comfort zone but I love the experience

  • Jul 02, 2016 by Bill G.

Amazing pizza!!! On the upper end of what I'm willing to pay for a pie, but amazing taste and good size. Great service every time we go. There is an all you can eat pizza on Tuesday that is really fun if you want to try new things. Great atmosphere for kids and plenty of fun things to keep them entertained!

  • Jun 29, 2016 by James U.

Great old school pizza parlor. Peanuts and sawdust on the floor. Awesome pizza. Pepperoni is flavorful. Love that there is a smattering of cheddar cheese on the pizza too. Good price on pitchers of beer. Little arcade for kids to play in. Nice atmosphere. Service is really nice polite young staff. Look forward to coming back. UPDATE: Loved the pizza so much we came back for our final night to grab a pepperoni to go. SAD! 1st time not eating in. Pizza was suppose to be double pepperoni. I guess they weren't as generous tonight. Also asked for toasted. Not. Sad job tonight but not everyone hits a home run. I'll give them another chance.

Pizza was great if you like chewy dough

  • Jun 26, 2016 by Dee Dee P.

Best pizza around!  Pricey but worth it.  We usually order to go but nice rustic family atmosphere where you can eat peanuts and throw them on the ground.

  • Jun 11, 2016 by Donald A.

Klondikes! I didn't think i would like this place, but i left with a new favorite pizza joint for when the family and I  are over at the coast. We had the road kill with Garlic sauce and it was delicious. We also had a Hawaiian pizza and a pepperoni and olive and they were all fantastic. All in all this was a great family fun pizza place.

  • Jun 09, 2016 by Jackie Manley

Came here a few years ago for Babe Ruth All-Star Tournament and fell in love with the pizza. Been by a few times when we feel like talking a long ride.

  • Jun 07, 2016 by Bella C.

So I came here with my friends to indulge in the all you can eat pizza. After a 45 minute wait we finally get our table. I'm so excited to start eating when... No vegetarian pizzas. I wait 25 minutes to even get one slice I could eat. The pizza was amazing don't get my wrong but the fact I could eat 1 out of every 5 pizzas that came around, not cool.

  • Jun 02, 2016 by Diane A.

Great pizza! It's a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. The Tuesday night all you can eat is a bit of a hot mess, but worth it if you are willing to eat any kind of pizza and wait a long time. We order the pizza and pick it up to go quite a bit. Worth every penny.

  • May 30, 2016 by Andrew O.

This place has a great atmosphere and I loved the salted peanuts. We got a half bacon/half sausage pineapple pizza and our daughter got a personal black olive pizza with the garlic sauce. I tried her pizza and I thought that the bacon and sausage were both good and the black olive pizza was good too that I tried a piece of. It was a crispy bottomed crust and was a thicker style, but chewy in the middle and good. I would definitely come here again when we visit the area.

  • Apr 20, 2016 by Camille N.

We had the road kill pizza with white sauce very yummy. The customer service was outstanding. Very friendly staff. Very nicely setup love the reasoning behind the restaurant. Very authentic decorations. Very family orientated. Will be back again.

  • Apr 09, 2016 by Cheryl T.

Our family just LOVES the pizza at Klondikes!  The atmosphere is so unique and we enjoy the peanuts too! The staff is super friendly and we highly recommend bringing family and friends to Klondikes! The Tolan family

I can't wait to come to Klondikes tonight it's been awhile and I love this place !!! Always been great service and awesome pizza !!! So worth the drive from the 46 east !!!

  • Mar 30, 2016 by Alyse D.

The food and atmosphere are great. We got pizza, salads, and sandwiches. The girl who took our order and made our drinks however, was more interested on trying to impress a boy at the counter than helping us. Very rude. Rolled her eyes. It was unnecessary and annoying. We come by every year on Spring Break, and we'll be sure to come again!

  • Mar 30, 2016 by Mike G.

First time there I was impressed!  Nothing is perfect dirt floor walls littered with pictures and different things. The atmosphere is great our service was very good I would highly recommend Tuesday night for the all you can eat.

  • Mar 21, 2016 by Lisa

All you can eat pizza is a great deal!

  • Mar 15, 2016 by Trey B.

Tried this spot for the first time the other day cuz We heard a pal of ours might be coming to manage here.  We come to AG/Pismo all the time and cant believe we have never been here.  Was so good the other night we came for lunch the next day. We are foodies and appreciate good service and hard work. Pizza was great...lunch was great...service was great! Excited to come back especially if these folks bring our buddy in to run it...he will take this cool spot to an even better level.  (Sorry for the shameless plug). Try it either way..its awesome..we will be back!

  • Feb 22, 2016 by C. M.

Just can't go wrong with Klondikes when the craving for really good pizza hits.  We had the roadkill today it was delicious.  We really like that the sauce is so good and stands out even underneath all of those yummy meaty toppings!  The pizza is pricy, but you get what you pay for and here you're paying for pizza perfection!! Plus, It brings back memories of being a kid and coming for the AYCE pizza nights!  Wish we lived closer so that could still enjoy that!  The peanuts, decor, piano and even the pinball is pretty nostalgic for me.  My softball team pic from the 90's is still hanging in the hallway!

  • Feb 13, 2016 by Collins B.

We come from miles away just for this pizza. Toppings are plentiful and quality ingredients. Worth the trip.

  • Feb 12, 2016 by C H.

First off, if you're pizza particular, this may not be the best place for you. The pies are pretty simplistic-- meat, veggies, cheese. That being said, it's the atmosphere that really pushes Klondike's from being an ordinary pizza joint to a local institution. The zany Alaskan tchotchkes that line the walls, along with the peanut shell strewn floor make this place unforgettable, and the classic arcade games give it a nostalgic vibe that both children and adults alike can appreciate. Word of the wise: if you want to check this place out for the first time and really get a feel for it, as well as try multiple pizzas, stop in on Tuesday nights where you can get all you can eat pizza for roughly $10. So all in all, not the best pizza in town, but the friendly, energetic staff and fun atmosphere makes this place a must visit the next time you're passing though little ol' Arroyo Grande.

  • Feb 11, 2016 by Jenna W.

Klondike has definitely grown on me. The pizza is reeeaallly good- especially when it's hot and right out of the oven. Tonight, the boyfriend and I went there and there was a slight miscommunication with the order. We  thought we ordered a medium- and received a mini. We didn't even look at the receipt- but we were charged for a mini. Cole took such great care of us! He just threw in another pizza while we enjoyed the mini. He DID NOT have to do that. We tried multiple times to pay the difference, but he wouldn't hear of it. We are Arroyo Grande natives now- and love knowing we can count on the pizza and the customer service EVERY time. Thanks Cole and Klondike!! We are lifers now!

  • Jan 31, 2016 by Jason B.

Been wanting to go here for awhile.  Wife and I just felt like pizza, pretty rare for us!  Small size was more than enough. Pizza was great, fresh toppings. Also had a dinner salad. Love the casual atmosphere and played pinball after dinner. We'll be back! Even brought home leftovers...

  • Jan 30, 2016 by Byron T.

I love this place! Growing up as a kid coming here for sport ceremonies. I continue coming here. For the nostalgia but mainly for the pizza because it's great. They have an all you can eat night on Tuesday which is good. You can't care what pizza you eat otherwise you may not get your money's worth. I usually don't eat vegetarian or other pizzas they bring out but I do when I do Tuesday nights so I can eat more pizza and waste money less. Klondikes likes to do the white sauce on the most outrageous things but you just get it anyways because they give you one slice at a time(unless you can charm the server) and don't always go to your table. The pizza is expensive so with everything said this probably should be a four star but I'm biased! Oh! Like you've probably read, there are peanuts and you can throw the shells on the ground! Plus there are arcade games which bring you back.

  • Jan 29, 2016 by Ronald W.

I love this place the best pizza ever. The staff is cool the atmosphere is unique overall nothing like it anywhere else.

  • Jan 24, 2016 by Nic B.

Good pizza, but warning for people who are allergic to peanuts.  It's all over the place.   I would do just regular order instead of doing the all you can eat.

  • Jan 19, 2016 by wayne millheim

If you have an e-mailed newsletter I'd be delighted to be added to the list. Thanks! Wayne

  • Jan 17, 2016 by Happy S.

I like the atmosphere... The peanut idea is great.. Eat peanuts throw shells on floor...The food was just OK.. I didn't think the pizza was anything but average .. The ranch dressing is good... You have to go up to the counter and ask for someone to refill your drink. The female manager seemed stressed out.... The other employees hustled...

  • Jan 12, 2016 by Michelle hellings

It's been years since I had a great Klondike pizza sure miss Tuesday night with family wish they would open one here in nebraska

  • Jan 10, 2016 by Mindy Brooks

Have been eating your pizza for years and years...so delicious. Tonight it was different, toppings great as always, but the dough was MUCH thicker than in the past. Someone new in the kitchen ?

  • Jan 10, 2016 by Marla D.

I usually don't like pizza because it only offers tons of bread and cheese with samples of toppings. Klondike pizza woo-ed me with more toppings than bread! I LOVED it! I ordered the veggie pizza with garlic white sauce. Ohhh man I wish I lived closer because just typing this makes me want MORE! I need a moment.... I wanted to take off the green peppers or maybe even the zucchini... BUT I didn't and am so glad I didn't! I trusted their expertise. We were all very hungry so we ordered two large pizzas. We easily took home 3/4 of a large pizza because there is so much topping on these pizzas that you will be full after 2 pieces! The 2nd large pizza we ordered was the barbecue chicken. It was sweet and smokey. TIP! Pepper the veggie pizza... ahhhhhh

  • Dec 26, 2015 by Cameron R.

Excellent pizza! By the far best pizza around, no question! Really really good pizza.

  • Dec 19, 2015 by Susy G.

Mama like!!! They have great flavorful  pizzas. I recommend  their  combo, but with white garlic sauce. If you like spicy, the Buffalo chicken  pizza is tasty! The garlic chicken was nothing special. Overall, this is a good family place and they have piano music and Christmas sing alongs during December.

  • Nov 14, 2015 by Steven C.

A fun family local pizza place who still rocks the arcade like it's still the 80's. Don't get me wrong I like this place, but people who think this is the best pizza in the world should probably leave this town at least once. It's ok to grab a pizzas and beer with some friends or family, but if you prefer your pizzas sans cardboard crust I would suggest going elsewhere. Oh, and the salads are absolutely a perfect model of a pizza place salad. Oh, I do enjoy eating peanuts and tossing them on the floor!

  • Nov 07, 2015 by Penny K.

Klondikes has very unique pizza choices. They put a lot of toppings on and the pizza is good size. The location is tucked away in AG Village.

  • Nov 01, 2015 by Elizabeth J.

I give Klondikes pizza 5 stars.  I think they are the best local, non chain pizza place in the area.  Their pizza sauce, crust and blend of cheeses reminds me a lot of Round Table (which is good).  So far they have never been stingy on sauce, cheese or toppings (a big deal).  I usually pick up but this is a great place to bring a large party.  One thing I don't believe they have are tvs which doesn't bother me but when my dad visits he likes to go to places where he can watch a sports game.

  • Oct 16, 2015 by Joanna G.

Love this place and ambiance . You walk in and are walking on dirt and then led into a room full of peanut shells on the ground. Yes, you can throw your shells on the ground. They have amazing pizza that has never failed to satisfy me. The line can get long- so be warned. They have a little arcade for the kids. I especially like the fact they have a Ms. Paceman which I enjoy playing. Definitely worth the drive.

  • Oct 16, 2015 by Kelly G.

What a great place this is especially for families!!! You could stay there for hours just looking at all their fun signs and pictures.  Wonderful service. Pizza was good but not the best. But I would go there just for the ambiance. My boy loves to go here! Whatever makes him happy makes me happy:) Thanks Klondike for putting such a great/fun pizza parlor in AG! Hope you guys stay for a long long time! Highly recommend this place!

  • Oct 15, 2015 by Baleigh F.

My husband and I have been here already a few times. Klondike's pizza is a great place to bring out of town guests. You walk into a welcoming and unique environment. You will walk up to the counter and order your pizzas that you want. I would encourage you to look up their menu online before going so you are prepared when you get to the counter. After you order and pay they will give you a number, your drink cups and a basket of peanuts. You will walk a little further and wait to be seated after you are given a table you walk up to the drink counter which is where you will go for your free refills as well. While you wait for your pizza you can eat some peanuts and throw the shells on the ground. There are pictures, signs and such all over the walls which make it very easy to pass the time. Klondikes isn't necessarily a cheap pizza place, but it is totally worth it! I would highly recommend Klondikes!

  • Oct 14, 2015 by Rock G.

I was in town for my sons High School Water Polo Tournament, And a large group of us (Varsity Team, Coaches, and 15 parents) showed up and were greeted by a pleasant and accommodating staff. The line to order was PAINFULLY slow. Think Disneyland during the summer rush or spring break. 25 minutes just to order a pizza. The pizza itself is okay. Nothing to go crazy over. Not a fan of the dough... It's a bit tough and flavorless. The toppings were good, but wish they would have had red bell peppers. They have some interesting ones, such as Reindeer Sausage... It too was just okay. Other than the great staff, Klondike Pizza was middle of the road. Didn't hate it, but didn't love it either. Now that I've been, doubt that I'd return.

  • Sep 26, 2015 by Shay V.

The only reason I haven't put one star is because I have been coming here for years and never had any problems until recently. We came in and ordered our two pizzas, a red and white sauce. Our white sauce pizza came out and it was a little burnt around the edges which wasn't major. The real problem was when our red sauce pizza came out, this one was way worse, it was completely burnt and unsalvageable. When our nice server set it down for us my mom who was with us actually said "what is that?" it was a catastrophe and very unexpected from Klondikes the place we had eaten and loved for so long. The worst part was when we brought it to the managers attention he told us "no it's not burnt." Maybe it's because it was a busy weekend but still no excuse on the managers behalf.

  • Sep 22, 2015 by Rebecca D.

I ordered a small (12") half Hawaiian half cheese. Pizza came quickly (10-15min) and was hot and delicious! Restaurant and bathrooms were clean (except those peanut shells which are supposed to be there ) Not disappointed and will return!!

Good pizza, great atmosphere, and very friendly staff

  • Sep 20, 2015 by Monsta Mash M.

As far as pizza places go in the Central Coast this is probably the coolest pizza spot and while I will say that the pizza is not the best I have ever had it certainly is good enough but the location is great and the atmosphere of the restaurant itself is original for this area with the wood chips on the floor and the country setting, it is always a fun atmosphere with lots of people laughing and carrying on and when I visit my kids this is usually where they want to go for pizza.

  • Sep 06, 2015 by Brian O.

Perfect pizza! The pepperoni and sausage were exceptional! Had the  Denali pizza and it s toppings were falling off the pizza there were so many. I love pizza and this is the best I have ever had .

  • Sep 06, 2015 by Arpan S.

The pizza was delicious, service was great from the ladies at the counter, ingredients were fresh. Overall it's a good place for pizza and family fun.

  • Aug 30, 2015 by Jeff C.

Great food pizza is one of the best in county! (Nardonnes has them beat) service is usually pretty good but yesterday after sons football game we stopped in to eat. Grandparents and son just wanted to wait for wife other son and I to show up,were told they had to wait outside that they could not get a table without ordering! All they wanted to do is to see what we wanted and the place was not busy at all! We were only a few minutes behind! Waitstaff was very rude just seemed like they were under new ownership or something didn't seem like the old Klondike where everyone was in a good mood and having fun! Well enough of that still good pizza! Cool arcade! Grumpy staff! Two out of three ain't bad! .

  • Aug 27, 2015 by Kyle W.

This is the best pizza I have ever had in my life. Be sure to get the Denali which has about everything on it.  It make take some time to make it when they are crowded but its worth it. Have a beer!

  • Aug 17, 2015 by Matt S.

The less than 5 stars rating for this place is what pushed me to create a yelp account! I've been here countless times and have loved it. I've had birthday parties and other various event celebrations here because everyone loves the place. Another reviewer complained that they had straw on the ground but it's always been peanut shell and some wood shavings and a little dirt. It adds to the ambience! The Alaska devour and color scheme create a nice atmosphere as well. The fact that it's in the basement of an old building adds to the uniqueness. Nothing bad can be said of this place as a patron. I'm a meat lover and have always loved the meat pizzas they've served. Their red sauce is unlike any other as well!

  • Aug 15, 2015 by Vance B.

Great atmosphere, so-so pizza. As the name implies, it has an Alaskan motif. You don't see that too often in a pizza place. Check in and ordering is well organized. You don't waste much time with his part. There is a bit of a wait for the pizza though. That would be fine by me if the pizza was worth waiting for. It wasn't. We ordered a Hawaiian and a pepperoni (one each). The pepperoni was tasteless. Where do you get pepperoni that has no flavor? Do they have it specially made? The Hawaiian had way too many toppings on it. This was made worse by the thin under done crust. Think wet cardboard covered with way too much canned pineapple. The service was friendly and prompt. There is a lot of stuff for kids to do. The pizza is bland and tasteless. I guess two out of three isn't bad.

  • Aug 12, 2015 by Marella P.

Beer was flat and luke warm. When we told the guy he stirred it w a straw and argued about  it w us. There pizza is good although  the service  on a tues night  was horrid. Took them almost an hour to come  by w cheese pizza.. if theres alot of kids around  you think they  would make cheese pizza more often.

  • Aug 08, 2015 by Amanda B.

I think they need to check their oven temperature; top/edge/bottom were burnt, and the crust was doughy! Red sauce is sweetest I've ever tasted on pizza (yuk!). We will not go back. Had high hope from the reviews, so v disappointed...

  • Jul 27, 2015 by Joebo Z.

Super cute place!! Great food but kinda pricey. Tuesday is all you can eat so i would definitely go then. I believe it's only about $9 from 5 to 9pm.

  • Jul 22, 2015 by Christian

These guys ROCK!!! Great Pizza and perfect for the family

  • Jul 03, 2015 by R C.

This place is torture! They do not deliver! But the pizza is so damn good im willing to pick it up . But It kills me to have to drive into the village of Arroyo Grande and then drive all the way back to Shell beach with the aroma off this awesome pie sitting next to me! You want to grab a slice on the road but that could be more dangerous then texting and driving. Hot cheese melting on your chin .Never a good thing on the 101!  Get the meat lovers, some nose plugs until you get home  and enjoy with a cold  Firestone DBA beer your girl and a movie!

  • Jun 19, 2015 by Tomas

Best pizza in town! Family fun and perfect PIZZA..

    I recommend this place.

  • May 23, 2015 by Daniel Z.

I consider myself a pizza expert on account of I eat way too much of it. After traveling to many different countries and most states in the U.S. trying their pizza, I can definitively say Klondike is still my favorite. 10/10 would eat again.

  • May 04, 2015 by Steve H.

Consistent perfect Pizza... Been coming here for years now and have NEVER had a bad experience. Great atmosphere and the staff is always friendly. As for the Pizza...I must admit have only tried three different ones. We usually always get a Large Roadkill with white sauce. This Pizza is absolutely awesome made with actual  Reindeer sausage. The white sauce has chunks of garlic in it that is amazing in its self. Our most recent visit we tried the Garlic Chicken Pizza OMG it was AWESOME. We can't wait to get back to the central coast to visit again. I assure you if you like pizza this is your new love.

  • Apr 24, 2015 by Joshua J.

Fun, 'roadhouse' feel, complete with peanut shells on the floor. Arcade for the little ones (and those who like it old school). Service is friendly. Toppings and cheese to the edge. All in all, above average pizza joint.

  • Apr 14, 2015 by Kat A.

Came in to try the Tuesday night chow down. It's our first time here, and the ambiance was pretty interesting. There are ground peanut shells about an inch thick, lots of stuff on the walls and ceilings that somehow manages to make it feel like a neighborhood joint more than the chains that try to do the same. It's about $10 per person for the all you can eat pizza, salad and breadsticks. The breadsticks is actually garlic bread! Yum, I never really got to look at the salad bar because I was wayyy too busy sampling pizza!! Lol.. I've experienced this kind of all you can eat situation before and lemme tell you Klondike's has it down to a science! Never more than a few mins before another pizza makes it's way past your table. The servers where awesome and seemed to really enjoy their jobs. The pizza? Hot and tasty! No skimpy toppings in sight here! Crusts are for quitters! The topping go right on out to the edge! They have both a red and a white sauce. They are both quite nice. I will def. be bragging on this place! We will be back!

  • Feb 08, 2015 by Patrick M.

Cool environment! It took awhile to get the pizza (30 minutes), but it was well worth the wait! Got their BBQ pizza!

  • Feb 07, 2015 by Becky T.

My favorite local pizza place! Love the sauce, crust, cheese, and all.  I look forward to coming back!

  • Jan 31, 2015 by J T.

Pizza...ehhhh Cheese...plenty, thick, a little too thick. Sauce....a little on the sweet side and kinda overbearing Crust.....thick....average taste Peanuts.....good Beer......good All in all is a Chuck E. Cheese equivalent pizza Overall thoughts ehhhhhhhhh

  • Dec 30, 2014 by Amanda F.

I'm a local and this is one of my favorite pizza places.  It has a rustic, Alaskan theme, complete with picnic tables, and a dirt floor with peanut shells. They have free peanuts you can get after you order.  I like the garlic chicken, and my husband likes the BBQ chicken.  They can get busy, but you usually don't have to wait to get a seat.  If you've never been go! You won't regret it.

  • Dec 29, 2014 by Amy L.

Unusual interior (peanut shells everywhere) but consistently good pizzas in downtown arroyo grande. Go for ice cream across the street afterwards.

  • Dec 17, 2014 by Mel L.

Very nice diner and a very reasonable price. Took guests from Michigan, China and Africa out to the Tuesday night pizza. We arrived early so while the restaurant was full we had no wait time.  But what but what pushed the evening over-the-top was the very attentive server "Lori".  Our group was very diverse from vegetarian to meat eaters with foreign taste mixed in. She took the time to ask several of the people what they liked and said she would try to snag something for them.  She never made anyone feel like we were putting her out. In fact while it was obvious she was incredibly busy she made us feel like she enjoyed finding things for us.  While we only are mentioning Lori the fact is everybody we came in contact with last night were excellent. Well done Klondike. And thank you again Lori.

  • Dec 01, 2014 by Sag S.

We visited this place on Tuesday.  it was very very crowded primarily because of Thanksgiving holidays that week and they have all you can eat on Tuesday evenings.  This place has very different, very casual and fun atmosphere -- I think you can experience So-Cal relaxed atmosphere here.  We had all-you-can-eat deal.  Veggie pizza had rather too much mushrooms on it.  Cheese pizza was good.  Their garlic bread is good and salad bar is okay.  Not much vegetarian variety here.

  • Nov 10, 2014 by Yuli C.

Love this place. The pizza is tasty and the staff is very friendly. I love that you can eat peanuts and throw them on the floor. I will definitely come back.

  • Nov 08, 2014 by Kevin L.

My friends and I met here before heading to the Melodrama for a show. We placed our order with my friends husband who was there before us. He grabbed us a seat and waited maybe fifteen minutes before we showed up. About five after we got there, we got our food. They got the garlic chicken something-or-other. I got a personal white sauce pizza with cooked tomato, garlic, black olives, bell pepper, and jalapeno and it was delicious! The crust was amazing!!! We were clearly hungry because there wasn't a slice of either left. Beer was $4.50. The peanuts on the table were a nice touch and good for snacking before dinner. The decor is a lot of fun, too.

This is a good place to go with a group. There is plenty of seating on picnic style wooden benches in the back room and they will take reservations. The prices for pizza and pitchers are reasonable. I ordered the Hawaiian and was not impressed. The crust was undercooked and the pineapple was overwhelmingly sweet. However, our friend's meat pizza looked delicious. Overall: Pizza - 3 stars Ambience for a group hangout - 4 stars

Great atmosphere and great pizza. Love the peanuts and kid friendly arcade. Pizza toppings go all the way to the edge of the pizza, but even as a crust lover I was thrilled with the extra toppings, high quality spicy pepperoni and lush black olives make for a perfect combo. Topped it off with a firestone double barrel ale and I was happy.  It's been 10 years since I last visited this place but it's still amazing.

  • Oct 24, 2014 by Chris J.

3 out of 5 (classic pizza joint) Quality: Pizza - delicious, perfect (chewy) crust - while toppings all cooked. Hamburger - worst patty I have EVER had (1/3 lb cooked down to unrecognizable size?), bun (twice the size of patty - too big) and condiments were fresh. Dinner salad - generous size, fresh and well constructed (variety of veggies: different letuces, onion, muchrooms, carrots, cucumber). Service: Pleasant staff.  Food comes out piecemeal.  Our pizzas were 15 minutes apart (should have come together - since 1/2 the party couldn't eat). Ambiance: Not much.  Cool (yukon) flavored decorations.  Too loud maintain anything that might resemble a meaningful conversation. Pricing: Party of 4; (2) dinner salads, (2) medium pizzas, (2) hamburgers and (4) beers = $93.  Seemed alittle high..?

    Great pizza great atmosphere!

  • Oct 01, 2014 by Eric M.

The context: It was a long drive from the Bay Area via CA-1 to Santa Barbara. The fatigue was showing. Needed something to eat ASAP or the chances of the car hurtling down a cliff into the Pacific Ocean due to me passing out was real. Found this place after taking a random exit. I enter and a lot of things were off. Like creepy thriller movie kind of off. Animal skins adorn the place. The floor is rife with peanut shells, saw dust, etc. Maybe this place is under construction? Wrong! This place has a weirdly awesome decor. Initially I thought to myself, "They would never have to clean the floor!". But in retrospection, it might take a bit more time to clean the pieces of food among the peanut shells, saw dust than it would take without them. Go straight up to the bar and ask, "Where the hell are we?". She cutely replies, "We are in Santa Maria. Welcome to Klondike". The server confirms that all the animals on display are real. Huge bears, Alaskan crab, reindeer, moose (?), etc. If Noah's Ark were Alaskan, you would find all the animals on his boat here. I skim through the menu and see reindeer meat. Oh yeah, reindeer! I order the reindeer sausage pizza and an Alaskan Ale. Having never tasted reindeer meat before, I was a bit skeptical. Santa never mentioned it's taste during his visits on Christmas eve. The pizza was amazing. All the ingredients looked fresh and the reindeer sausage was good. It wasn't gamey (because that's what I expected it to be). If I ever visit Santa Barbara or Lompoc again, I would definitely hang out at this place :)

We really enjoyed this restaurant.  It was fun to eat the peanuts they serve as appetizers and be able to throw the shells on the floor!  The pizza was delicious and the atmosphere can't be beat!

  • Aug 31, 2014 by Brandy H.

First I can't believe this place is still open. The floor is disgusting. I'm ok with restaurants that allow you to throw peanuts on the floor but this floor is covered in dirt, saw dust, and peanut shells. Second they offer two types of sauces but will not allow you to do half and half. No where on their menu does it state this. It's pure laziness and a money maker for then. We had to order minis to satisfy everyone. I also waited over 20 minutes for a dinner salad. My father in law ordered a chef salad and was asked if he wanted it with the meal or before. He said before. I specifically told the woman who took our order I wanted my dinner salad before dinner. After 20 mins we flagged down a server and she said she go to check in my salad. A couple minutes later a young man from the back came out with our ticket to show us where it said with dinner. We informed him the woman who took our order said dinner salads comes before the meal. It shouldn't have been a big deal just bring out a salad. It's lettuce, carrots, and tomatoes. Finally 5 mins later we received the salad. The ranch was very good. The pizza was very good as well.

  • Aug 24, 2014 by Jakob W.

The pizza was great and the atmosphere was fun. You get a basket of peanuts and get to throw the shells at your party members or just on the floor. The place is always packed and you can get your drinking on as well if wanted. They also have some more exotic items such as reindeer sausage. They are a bit pricey but I highly recommend trying it out, you wont get the same type of pizza at dominoes

  • Jul 07, 2014 by Saturday night a to Z.

Interesting decor, teenaged staff, and Roadkill Pizza.  Everything was good, but nothing made me want to go again--maybe if I had kids.

  • Jul 06, 2014 by Wayne G.

It's been a while since we've made it here.  The place was PACKED, and rightfully so on 4th of July weekend.  However, the staff handled the situation very well given all the chaos.   People go to places like this for the fun of it, the experience, (ie throwing your peanut shells on the floor) not to go and sit or be waited on.  You get in line to order, get in line to get your drinks, after getting in line for a place to sit.  All things considered, it's an experience to remember.  One problem with an item we ordered, which was quickly righted by management.

  • Jul 02, 2014 by Matteo C.

This is a fun classic to come and revisit from time to time, because of the wonderful atmosphere, the great service, the awesome food, and enthusiastic energy felt from the patrons. The decor along can entertain one while they wait for the food to arrive, but you also get a lovely basket of peanuts to munch on, and you may deliver your peanut shells among the horizontal thing at your feet, I believe they call it a floor. If you are a meat lover, I suggest the Road-Kill Pizza.  If not there are plenty of great choices, and the chef salad was fun to behold and devour! If you miss the good arcade games of yesteryear you may enjoy the ones found here at the Klondike. At off times it is fairly quiet, so if you want to try the place at peaceful volumes avoid peak times; however, if you enjoy a boisterous crowd I suggest Tuesday's All you can eat event! Don't be afraid to wander around and check all the neat stuff on the wall, or the glass case.  There is an expression in Italy, "A tavola non si invecchia" which is, "At the table one does not age." In other words an Italian meal is meant to be an experience of good feelings enjoyed with others, and that is what you will find here, and talking about finding something can you find this perviously mentioned italians phrase at Klondike Pizza?

  • Jun 29, 2014 by terry c.

Always a must when we travel, from Denver, to Pismo!  If you are not completely full after leaving Klondikes shame on you!  One doesn't stop when full one stops when they explode.   Pizza is that good.  It's refreshing to enjoy a pizza where the crust and sauce are second fiddle to the flavor of the meats and veggies .    Don't forget their chef salad full of tasty toppings.

  • Jun 24, 2014 by Ashley A.

I really did like that Roadkill Pizza but I'm not sure it was worth the mess and noise. Pizza and arcade games are an awesome combo don't get me wrong but it started to feel more like if you combined a Chuck E. Cheese with an TGIF. Maybe it's just not my atmosphere or maybe I just came on a busy night. What with the waiting in line to be seated, waiting in line to get a drink, waiting for the pizza I like to be served around, avoiding the kids, another Happy Birthday song, then the piano starting to play I was so ready to get out of there.

  • Jun 18, 2014 by Seth M.

Best pizza in the Five Cities area.  The Denali is my favorite. It's a little pricy but it's worth it.

  • Jun 02, 2014 by Aaron E.

Love this place.  Definitely a lot of fun.  I love throwing peanut shells on the floor. And they have all you can eat Tuesdays where they just come around with more and more pizza. Great place to bring the kids.

  • May 27, 2014 by Kevin D.

I first found this place about twelve years ago while on a Pismo trip with some friends and since that time we talk about it often so when I found myself in the area again for the weekend I knew this was a place I wanted to eat at for sure! The place looked exactly as I remembered it! I loved the peanuts on the floor, the Kitchsy, down-home atmosphere and the good food! I remembered them having board games you can play while you wait for your food but didn't see those this time but maybe I missed them.  Regardless I'll be back again the next time in the area!

  • May 02, 2014 by A B.

The first thing that comes to mind when I think about AG on a Tuesday night is either Doc Burnstein's or Klondike's. If you decide to come to "All You Can Eat Tuesday's" it is RECOMMENDED that you show up once the event begins because otherwise, you will see a crowd waiting to get in. The atmosphere inside of Klondike's is fun and lively. You can definitely feel those vibes once you enter the restaurant. They give you peanuts once you finish your order and you can throw the shells on the floor since the floor is nothing but peanut shells. The pizza there tastes great! It's definitely one of my favorite pizzas to eat, especially when I eat their pizzas with the white sauce! LOVE their white sauce! This restaurant is definitely a local's favorite hangout, especially on Tuesday nights!

We always enjoy going to Klondikes when visiting the Pismo Beach area.

  • Feb 15, 2014 by Breann S.

Came here for the first time and was so pleased with the place but some of the girls that were working didn't seem to happy so I think maybe they don't enjoy their job. They just looked sour the whole time I was there and I was trying to get a to go box for over 5 minutes and the girl that was doing refills was flirting with a guy the whole time I needed a box ... Pizza was outstanding though .... I came here Wednesday at 8pm

  • Feb 02, 2014 by Vaughn T.

I went here once with my uncle and it was really fun. They have a lot of old and new arcade games. Their pizza is also almost the best in the area. I really like how they put a lot of cheese on their pizza

My family and I have been going to Klondike's Pizza in Arroyo Grande, California for years now. When we first discovered the restaurant it was located in ''Old Arroyo Grande'' so the scenery of the town is old fashioned ,cottage-like , and very cozy. When driving past Klondike's Pizza the smell will instantly have you turned around, in their convenient parking lot, and right at the main entrance. You will notice as you are walking in that there are cracked peanut shells all over the ground, that is because every order comes with a free basket of peanuts and their ground bound shells a ''Klondike Tradition.'' Although the ground may be filled with peanut shells the table ,utensil ,bathroom, and kitchen are as clean as can be. Believe me I check for that in every restaurant because no one wants to eat in a dirty one. And even though Klondike's Pizza maybe considered a pizzeria the restaurant also serves great sandwiches , pastas , and burgers. The restaurant is Alaskan themed, has interesting décor, and has a fun atmosphere. Not only are the staff friendly but so are the costumers. At each table there's a songbook with titles and numbers next to each one so  you can shout out a number and the man playing the piano will play that song for you and mostly everyone sings along to it. The restaurant includes an arcade, board games, a self playing piano, and a juke box so you don't get bored waiting for your order. Their restaurant is family friendly and is a great place to sit down and enjoy having a slice of pizza with your family. plus if you're in the mood for dessert Doc Burnstein's IceCream Parlor is right across the street.  Just imagine a fresh baked pizza right out of the oven. Made with freshness from the bottom up. The dough is very thick and made fresh every day and the crust is buttery, and crisp. You'll never have to worry about being served old pizza because that's just disgusting. The meat toppings are tender and moist while the cheese is flexible and melts in your mouth. Our home made sauce is mouth watering you can taste the tomatoes , basil ,and other ingredients in their bold sauce. and that's just the beginning don't forget to try Klondike's appetizers as well , they're to die for. With a choice of  baked garlic bread or bread sticks that come complementary with a fresh salad. And if you're not much of a salad person they also have hot wings that are both saucy and spicy. For adults and children they have a diverse selection of beverages at great prices. The average wait is 10 minutes which isn't too bad and they'll find you a seat that suits you and your convenience. Because they care about their customers and their well being.  if you are looking for great Italian food Klondike's Pizza is the place to go. Their service is so good its said to be annoying. With waiters that were trained to serve your every need. Klondike's pizza is 1 of the top 3 best pizza restaraunts in California. They take pride in their pizza and have great ingredients and super nice staff. So if you're ever in Arroyo Grande and want amazing pizza come to Klondike's.

A neighborhood tradition. We've been going to the Klondike since I was a kid. Now I have kids! The original owners are still there- keeping the family tradition alive. Still the best pizza around, and the other food is really good too - but we go for the pizza. Gotta brag: our 4-year-old, Amy, sang at the Monday Night Open Mic recently. A star was born!

  • Jan 07, 2014 by Alicia H.

I've been going to Klondike's since I was 8 years old and 13 years later I'm still a regular customer. The toppings are always loaded and I refuse to order white sauce anywhere else. BEST pizza in Santa Maria!

  • Jan 04, 2014 by Olivia

Old fashioned Sing-a-long every 1st and 3rd Saturday night is so much fun!

  • Dec 07, 2013 by Pat S.

Great pizza-highly reco the Denali with red sauce, it has a bit of a kick and it keeps us coming back. Great service and casual family atmosphere. The uber kitschy Alaskan theme, reputed to be the owners story and how they got here, is fun and they tie in exotic pizza's like "Roadkill" feature deer meat, but there are plenty of traditional choices for the less adventuress. Tuesday night is a great deal with all you can eat pizza, salad and garlic bread, if you don't mind a few kids running around sometimes. It's a great way to try out both their red and white sauces on a wide range of pizza offerings and the staff are great, enthusiastic yet cordial.

  • Dec 05, 2013 by Zack B.

While the pizza was decent the few times I've been there, it usually takes a bit longer than expected. While this isn't too big a turn-off, the peanut shell covered floor is not our favorite. Other pros: There's a moose head on the wall, the staff is usually courteous, and the location and parking are great. Other cons: I mistakenly(?) understood people who serve drinks at the drink counter expect tips (separate from the original tip) and that bugged me. And it can also be a bit loud, but it's a fun place to hang out. We'll be back!

  • Nov 10, 2013 by Christopher P.

My family and I first stumbled on Klondike Pizza back in the spring of 2009. We were really desperate for pizza and were in the area, and a friend of ours recommended this place. Now, I always come here whenever I can. First impressions are not great- the floor is dirt and the place feels slightly cramped due to its basement location. At least the arcade games are nice and aren't broken for the most part. However, once the pizza is finally on the table, you'll be trying hard to force yourself to stop eating because its just that good. I like a lot of sauce on my pizza, and this place is VERY generous with it - there's usually been a greater sauce-cheese ratio here than at other places. Everything tastes fresh, and it's by far the best pizza within the Cal Poly/SLO/Pismo area.

  • Nov 01, 2013 by Mark R.

Fun atmophere, interesting decore and unique place but it was a challenge to have a mixed crowd of 16, mostly adults.  I would not recommend having such a large group here.  The pizza tasted good but it was not over the top. The pizza came out one at a time over 8 minutes apart but obtaining the drinks was the worst. We had a pitcher of beer, 2 carafs of wine, 3 pitchers of water and an assortment of glasses for water and soda. We asked for a tray but was told we couldn't have one--employees only. Needless to say after 6 of us carried glasses, plastic cups, carafs and a pitcher through a medium crowded room we had to order more beer. I would have appreciated 1 out of the 10+ employees to carry the glasses on a tray...especially after I spent over $200.  I will return for the Klondike and Roadkill pizza but only with a small group.

  • Oct 06, 2013 by Lindsey B.

My family has been going to this restaurant for years and it's quality and atmosphere has not diminished over that time at all. Because we've been here so many times we order the same pizza each time: a mushroom and sausage with white sauce. Even though this place can get crowded on the weekends, we usually don't have a problem finding a table or getting our pizza within thirty minutes. Every order comes with a basket of peanuts, which is evident by the layer of peanut shells on the floor. There is also an arcade area where most parents send their kids while they enjoy a calmer meal. Even though we order the same pizza each time, they have a diverse selection of pizzas, salads, sandwiches, and burgers. They offer an all you can eat pizza selection on Tuesday nights, a sing along session on Saturday nights, and weekday lunch specials from 11 to 2.

  • Sep 09, 2013 by Katie A.

Who needs seafood we drive over to the coast to have Pizza!  I would have to say the Roadkill is my all time favorite from anywhere!  Cool atmosphere and the kids love the arcade.

  • Sep 02, 2013 by Brian S.

Klondikes has certainly come to the rescuse this year.. They deliver consitently good pizza at a resonable price. We have picked up pizza to go here about 15 times this year to feed our free laborers helping us with our remodel. It is always a favorite amongst everyone. Over this year we have dined inside twice and it is certainly an experience in itself. You can enter from the parking lot or from street level to get don to the restaurant, in the basement. hey serve you peanuts that you get to throw on the dirt floor, or at least that is what everyone does. It is definitely tastefully tacky on the inside with fun items all over the wall down to the picknick tables with checkerd table cloths. My favorite thing is all of the the quotes and rules from the management/owner on the wall. Next time you are in take a look at them. My favorite: "Unatended children will be given a free litter of kittens." They do serve beer there and have an arcade for the kids. Overall I am pleased with this establishment and will certianly be back soon.

  • Jun 20, 2013 by Dirk W.

This is a tradition for our family when visiting the Arroyo Grande area.  On our way home from Shell Beach we always stop for some Klondike.  Kids love the peanuts on the floor and the arcade.  I love the pizza!  Sauce is great but too tangy (acidic) for one of our boys.

  • Jun 19, 2013 by Jim R.

Awesome pizza.  The peanut shell covered floor is unique and fun.  Gotta go here then to Doc Burnstein's Ice Cream Lab for dessert.  What a combination!

  • Jun 10, 2013 by Austin A.

This place is so awesome. You can throw peanut shells on the floor. The pizza is killer, the price is good too. The order of the line for the food and drinks are confusing. I have been here in 2010 and came back in 2012. There were changes, the pizza was better, the games were new, and the music is a little bad. I will always come here.

  • Jun 04, 2013 by Greg W.

For locals, you know what it is and you know that it's definitely a place to be on Tuesday night for unlimited pizza ;) I'm a little harsh but would recommend Klondike to anyone not from the area - it's a unique experience. I would however strongly prefer the Santa Maria location for the following reasons: 1. The pizza is not as good at Arroyo Grande, the crust is not as crisp. 2. Slightly better wait time although I think AG can accommodate larger crowds with more ease. 3. Pizza moves a lot quicker to you in Santa Maria, I'm not sure why this is the case, it might be because the SM location is smaller. The AG location has much much better service, there was a server named Matt and he was phenomenal. Klondike is lucky to have him, he's pretty amped about pizza and really good at working the crowd. I apologize for the Santa Maria bias (hometown bias) but Klondike Pizza is amazing either way.

  • May 08, 2013 by Heather W.

Awesome pizza! We're fairly new to town and we just found our new pizza place! Everyone was very friendly. We were late eaters so they were closing up but they didn't rush us at all. We will be back!

  • Apr 06, 2013 by K H.

The pizza here is super amazing! The only complaint I have is that there were a lot of tables with dirty dishes everywhere and the staff seemed to be just milling around visiting and in no big hurry to clean it up.  It limited our choice of a place to sit, and it was rather unpleasant to look at.  All in all though, everyone was friendly and the food was delicious.

  • Mar 24, 2013 by Alexandra W.

A classic place to go very kid friendly and the pizza is always great quality the customer service is usually pretty good but not over the top friendly. Overall I am definitely a returning customer and would highly recommend it! :)

  • Mar 14, 2013 by M D.

Love this place...its a bit far for me to travel to but make the trip once every couple months...

  • Mar 08, 2013 by Mercedes R.

The place has a fun atmosphere, peanut shells all over the ground and decoration everywhere. Great for families as it has an arcade room.  Servers are super nice. We witnessed a customers birthday and the server had everyone involved in singing Happy Birthday!  Generous with their cheese topping.  Their garlic sauce is far better than the red pizza sauce.  We ordered two pizza's, each with a different sauce and the garlic sauce is the only way to go.

  • Feb 26, 2013 by Melanie B.

Yummmy!   My boyfriend took me here for a family birthday gathering a few months ago.   We had a roadkill pizza...which was very good.  I really liked the peanut shell floored, kick back, kid-friendly atmosphere.  I can't wait to visit again!

  • Dec 13, 2012 by Jen

If you like garlic on your pizza this is the place for you. They truly understand what "extra garlic" means unlike most places. Fantastic white garlic sauce option too! GREAT PLACE

  • Nov 27, 2012 by Jeanette W.

We came here with our extended family and they were great to accommodate us.   It is a wonderful place to go with kids, who were happy as clams being able to throw peanut shells on the ground and play video games.   The pizza is ok- we had pretty standard stuff (Veggie, Cheese, Pepperoni, etc) so maybe the more interesting pizzas are better.  To me the crust was very doughy and bread-like but not in a good way.

  • Nov 13, 2012 by Scott H.

Had a FANTASTIC experience tonight!! Our server (Matt) was so great to our kids. Thank you Matt for your AWESOME service. I hope your boss sees this because you deserve to be recognized!!!!

This is the place to go if you want a really great pizza and a good time. The people are friendly and I really like the alaskan decor. I dream about this pizza. Yum

  • Oct 07, 2012 by Kris G.

I LOVE this place.... Unfortunately of late I am trying very hard to be Gluten Free due to my body being much happier with me when I do! I occasinally cheat though and this is one of my fave places to do so! I adore the white sauce veggie (minus the olives) and a red sauce pepperoni with some ranch can always make me smile. The staff is always friendly and quick to wrap up whatever leftovers you might have (so good cold for bfast the next day) plus throwing your peanut shells upon the ground always makes me smile. If you are a big eater or want to try new kinds go in on Tuesday eve for the all u can eat night....salad, garlic bread and so many kinds of pizza you can try....dang I am making myself hungry!

  • Oct 06, 2012 by BaileyJ

Best Pizza I've found. Had pizza at Klondikes tonigt and it's time to write a review, even though I don't usually do this stuff. So -- Whenever I eat pizza somewhere other than Klondikes, I can't help but say, "it just isn't Klondikes", even if its good pizza. I'm the same about Disneyland. I like other theme parks, but they never quite live up to Disneyland for me. So, unless I am out of town, there is no other pizza place for me. The free peanuts are nice too. Thanks.

  • Sep 30, 2012 by Pete B.

I love pizza and Klondike's is first class!  Great pizza and a fun atmosphere. The chicken cordon bleu pizza was awesome!

  • Sep 27, 2012 by Chas D.

The pizza is really just Normal American pizza here. The cool part of Klondike is their ambiance.  It's over the top.  It has peanut strewn floors, and kitschy decor.  It's family and group friendly and the kids love it.

  • Sep 13, 2012 by Cat C.

My family and I absolutely LOVE Klondike Pizza! The atmosphere is causal and fun and my son loves eating the peanuts with the freedom to drop the shells on the floor. The pizza is delicious! The crust is just right -- thin but not too thin. The sauce is perfect, the cheese is abundant and fresh, and the pepperoni they use has a nice taste. They made the dough fresh daily and it really makes a difference! I would have given the restaurant five stars... but it's a little pricey so we aren't able to go there as often as we'd like. Also, it's a relatively small place so, if you go when they are busy, you'll have to stand around for a while and wait for a table to become available.

  • Sep 12, 2012 by Natalie H.

Yummy Pizza!  Great place to bring the family!

  • Sep 06, 2012 by Mike N.

I've eaten a lot of pizza in my lifetime, but this place was amazing. My friend had his wedding rehersal lunch/dinner here and all I kept hearing was how good this place is. IT LIVED UP TO THE HYPE!!! I tried the cheese, pepperoni and roadkill pizzas. All great!!! The roadkill pizza is my absolute favorite and I can't wait to go back there!!! Also a plus, they have good vintage video games to keep you busy until the food comes.

  • Sep 03, 2012 by Winter Lee S.

I wasn't sure if I would like this place...but I did.  Not the BEST pizza I've ever had but is probably my second fave. I love the whole Alaskan theme, it reminds me of Canada which is always good.  I've only had the pizza and garlic bread but they were both tasty.  I really liked the garlic chicken pizza I especially liked that there were thick pieces of onions on it (although some scoff at this). As for the people bitching because there's sawdust and peanuts on the floor - get over yourself.

  • Aug 27, 2012 by jennifer j.

Seriously the worst pizza I've had in my entire life.  The mushroom pizza looked and tasted like they used canned mushrooms.  Nasty!  Peanuts on the floor were fun and all, but the pizza was truly disgusting.  I still am amazed at just how lousy it was-- who messes pizza up that badly?!

  • Aug 24, 2012 by Debbie S.

Such a fun place for kids of all ages! You get to throw your peanut shells on the floor and they've got video games for the kids. The pizza is always delish and the service is as friendly as you'd expect in a small town.

  • Aug 09, 2012 by Mrs G.

This place has a special place in my heart. I've been coming here since I was a small child, and I'm pretty sure I was the reason why unsupervised teenagers can't eat at All-You-Can-Eat Tuesdays anymore. The roadkill pizza (choose the red sauce) is meaty, cheesy, and delicious, but an anecdotal warning: the garlic sauce gave me pretty bad diarrhea one time in the Moosette bathroom when I was 10 or 11. I've never tasted pizza anywhere that is quite as good as Klondike Pizza, and it's always a treat and a nostalgia trip to eat here when I come back home to good old AG. They also have a pretty good arcade section in which my mom would rock the Ms. Pacman game.

  • Aug 06, 2012 by Kelly A.

This is the only pizza place that we go to in SM and AG. It is like an Alaskan pizza dungeon. Any place that allows you to throw your peanuts on the floor is alright by me. Cold beer, crispy crust, plenty of melted cheese, mooseheads, and snow shoes. Rad!

  • Jul 26, 2012 by Aaron R.

My favorite pizza place on the central coast. Love the cheese. When you bite into the cheese, it stretches really far. The crust is thin and there's a perfect amount of sauce, not too much and not too little. Lots of toppings including my favorite - reindeer! This is also a great place for kids (video arcades in one section) or to get together with friends/family. The inside has a nice Klondike theme with pictures and decorations. There's a jukebox, giant moose head, and even peanuts on the ground. In terms of design, this place gets an A+. Every person I've brought to this place really enjoyed the food. Definitely worth checking out!

this is a perfect example of a "love-Hate" place.  If you the type that tends to place Quantity over quality -then you most likely love this place. Their Tuesday nights "All you can eat" is a great Bargan for the Pizza & Beer and or BIG eater Crowd. I was once a quantity eater in my youth but now in my middle age I just dont have the room and especially the metabolism to "stuff" myself, so NOW my mindset is all about quality and rarely does price become and deciding factor for me I Love their White Garlic Pizza Sauce but their Crust in my opinion is really second-rate extremely thin and crispy -BUT a lot of people these day like thin crust -for me its like eating just cheese and toppings -I like to have a thick soft crust. ive only been on a Tuesday night, so dunno is their a little more liberal with their dough on regular nights -as appose to the way the quickly crank them out for the all you can eat -when they pizza get devoured often faster than the kitchen can keep up. the place also serves Burgers and other sandwich and salad items but again havent tried any thing but the Pizza One last bit of advice for anyone thinking of trying the all-you-can-eat buffet -try by all means to arrive about 10 min till 5. This way you can pay -be seated -get you drinks and be ready for when the pizzas start matriculation the room (you do go pick up you own ala shakey's buffet of old -they bring it to you) If you arrive after 3pm then the wait could be 30 min or more to get seated, cause the line can stretch out the door -and soon as they dining area fills -like a SRO night club, they wont let anyone new in till someone is done eating and leaves.

My boyfriend LOVES this place and has been coming here for years. On our family dinner night he suggested we try this place since everyone in our family loves pizza (minus myself, I'm extremely picky with my pizza) The atmosphere is so much fun. Stickers covering the wall, peanuts all over the ground, benches, video games. You order up at the front as soon as you walk in and they give you a basket of peanuts along with your order number, they also write your drink order on a card and direct you to where you get your drink. The pizza was okay, nothing special to me. I hated the fact they cover your pizza in cheddar cheese after it's done cooking. Overall this place was fun, next time I come here I'll try something other then the pizza. The atmosphere made up for my dislike of pizza, haha.

  • Jun 20, 2012 by Laura B.

Food is good, but the young staff have no customer service.  The ordering process is confusing if you've never been there.  There is like 3 entrances, if you don't pick the right one, you don't know if you're supposed to wait to be seated or seat yourself.  Why you have to order your drinks twice is pointless to me...

While in Pismo with the fam, we got to the point where my parents were clam chowder-ed out... so I whipped out my trusty Yelp app and we decided to try Klondike Pizza. This place was pretty cute.  It was a little confusing because Klondike's is actually on the bottom floor.  Once we got inside, it took us a second to decide what we wanted... we finally settled on some cheesy garlic bread, a chef's salad, and a Hawaiian pizza with the garlic sauce.  We were given a basket of peanuts and decided on a booth near the back. Now I had to dock a star for the dirt floor and stuff.  I've been to restaurants with dirt floors before (think Texas Roadhouse) but this place had straw... now straw is really unnecessary because all it does is make me feel dirty and make my allergies go crazy.  Ughhhhhhh I felt so nasty.  But we were already there so we just sucked it up. The peanuts were alright, very dry and salty.  They brought our drinks (and refills!) and food to our table for us which was really nice.  The highlight of our meal was the chef's salad which was HUGE and awesome.  It had a great mix of ham, eggs, cheese, and tomatoes--and the lettuce they used was nice and fresh.  The cheesy garlic bread was okay, but not very garlic-ky and the marinara sauce that we got to dip it in was just a little off.   The pizza came out and the garlic sauce was alright, but not anything out of this world.  I didn't realize that when we ordered the garlic sauce, there wouldn't be any sauce--its more like garlic oil between the crust and cheese.  This tasted okay the first day, but was very "meh" the day after (and if you know me, my biggest judge of good pizza is what does it taste like the next day... and this was not so bueno).   Anyway, they get 3 stars for the service and the awesome chef salad, but that's all I can do.

LOVE IT. Been going to the Klondike since I was in grade school - over 25 years now. It's an awesome family restaurant that the locals conside an institution now. When I was away at college I dreamed about klondike pizza :) My son just turned 4 and we had his birthday there - the staff was great as always and we had so much fun. Aiden loved throwing his peanut shells on the floor.

  • May 01, 2012 by Jeff P.

A fun place with great service.  Despite the straw floors and peanut shells strewn about, it is very clean and inviting (albeit a little dark).   The pizza is good and certainly better than the chain restaurants -- although not really unique.  Would like to see them promoted a bit more as an AG Village destination spot. Did I mention the friendly service...

  • Apr 18, 2012 by Carlos M.

I've always loved Klondike Pizza.  I do think it's time they updated their motif though.  The place is looking a little dusty and rundown.

    est. 1988 by Pam & Mike Dennis. "Roadkill" = reindeer-sausage, pepperoni, salami, italian-sausage & canadian-style bacon, XL 16" = $25

We were expecting great pizza, but this was horrible! The sauce tasted like straight tomato paste, the toppings were uncooked, and the dough was flavorless. Not sure what all the fuss was about, but I'd MUCH rather have a frozen pizza from the grocery store.

  • Dec 15, 2011 by Allen L.

While in California, I got a hankering for some pizza. It is pretty much my favorite food. So we gave it a go at the local pizza place in Arroyo Grande called Klondike Pizza. I read some scathing reviews about cleanliness and poor service so I wasn't looking for a miracle, just a good slice. We walked in to find a dirt floor with straw and peanut shells strewn about. They handed us a tub of peanut shells when we ordered. I thought that was awesome. You would think a place covered in peanut shells and a dirt floor would be less than clean...you would be totally wrong. The tables were clean, the counters were clean, and it was...just clean! The staff was also super friendly, no complaints there at all. We ordered a "reindeer sausage pizza" with garlic butter sauce, and a burger with Canadian bacon and cheddar/jack cheese. The pizza was a bit pricey, but I liked the novelty of "reindeer sausage". When the pizza came it was a bit different than I expected. It did resemble a California Pizza Kitchen style pizza. Somewhere between a really good frozen pizza and a mediocre parlor pizza. I don't know if it was worth $19, but it was still a good eat. The burger was neato, it came on an oblong bun with a very fresh tomato, lettuce, pickles, and onions. The burger was pretty dang good. It came with a bag of chips, which I save for the flight home. Overall it was a great experience. Kids would love this place, and I did too! I would have given 4 stars, but the dang pizza was just not quite what I expected.

Great restaurant. I remember going here as a kid. Love throwing peanut shells on the floor.

  • Nov 10, 2011 by Laura A.

Best pizza I've ever had. I'm not sure what it is, maybe the combination of mozzarella and cheddar? Maybe the perfect sauce that has almost a hint of sweet to it? l don't know what it is, but something about this pizza is amazing. I've been eating it for 15 years and it's great every time. It's not inexpensive- about 20 bucks for a big 'ol pizza, but it's worth it.

  • Oct 27, 2011 by Liz R.

My introduction to Klondike Pizza was for the all you can eat on Tuesday nights years ago.  I am glad that this introduction occurred on a Tuesday night.  Why?  It gave me the opportunity to try several tasty pizzas for one price.  Each visit has been met by friendly and helpful staff.  I do agree with many that the roadkill pizza is tasty and flavorful and definitely something different and worth trying at least once.  If you are curious about this place Tuesday nights would be a good night to try it if your not afraid of crowds and want to sample their deliciousness.  Bring good company and a hungry stomach.  Throwing peanut shells on the floor is optional :)  Happy eating!

  • Oct 24, 2011 by Darcy B.

Delicious pizza, fun atmosphere.  Toppings all the way out so minimal crust...not deep dish, not thin, pretty delicious.

  • Oct 20, 2011 by centralcoast l.

How the city issues a permit for all these years to serve food in a rat hole, I have no idea... no floor, sewer pipes on the ceiling.  I would rather eat in guantanamo bay, it's more sanitary than this s*** hole. Don't be fooled like all the other morons in town by their reindeer sausage theme. Rat hole is all i have to say. peanut shells on the floor is filth in my opinion.  I have traveled the world and have never seen a pizza place like this; and i don't mean that in a good way. the people who eat here are ignorant morons who have never left the county and don't realize that this would not qualify as pizza in the european union.

  • Oct 13, 2011 by Jim P.

When I think of Pizza parlors, I think family time. This place exudes family fun. Old time self playing piano, arcade games, board games, peanuts from a barrel with the shells thrown on the floor. Then...you get to the pizza! Super flavorful, with a traditional red sauce or a garlic white. This pizza is good! I'm a meat eater, so my top vote goes to the house specialty "Roadkill"! Reindeer sausage is a common ingredient on their pizza and is a local town favorite. When in Arroyo Grande with the kids and in the mood for Pizza, you'd be crazy not to try Klondikes! Cheers!!!

  • Sep 29, 2011 by Jason P.

When I first walk in I heard a crunch beneath my feet.  I looked down and saw peanut shells.   Right after you walk in you must order at the counter.  They then give you a number and a basket of peanuts.  You can throw your shells on the floor.  Ive been to middle tier steak houses before where you can do this but never at a pizza joint. Pizza was alright.  I've had better.  You know the pizza isn't going to be great when they mix in cheddar cheese. Best part...  it's kid friendly! You must check out their website and read the story on how the place got established.  I promise you it's a laugh out loud read.

  • Sep 28, 2011 by Jackie L.

Such good pizza!  Love the zesty tomato sauce & the garlic white sauce is really good too!  It's a staple in the AG Village and we get our pizza here for work parties all the time-YUM!  Oh, and Tues night is all you can eat!

  • Sep 26, 2011 by Tara S.

Hands down, my favorite Pizza place of all times.  I love eating peanuts and throwing the shells on the ground.  The food tastes great - try the Road Kill on White sauce, yumm!!  Atmosphere is fun and friendly, a great place for the whole family.

  • Sep 22, 2011 by Amy I.

Good fresh ingredients!  The kids love the arcade and they also love the idea of eating peanuts and throwing the shells on the floor.  Overall it is a little high priced for pizza, but it is a fun place to take the kiddos.

Went there for nieces birthday party with my small service dog(15 lbs)..right when its time for 8 year old to open gifts the older woman owner literally got in my face and told me no service dogs allowed period!! This animal has never been told or asked to leave!!..has cheered up countless nursing home, hospital patients!.ill never go there again!!

What can I say? They did it again! We recently had Olivia's birthday party at Klondike's (she turned two), and they were more than accommodating. My father in law had them hold open a tab, so that when more guests arrived and ordered beer and wine, it was not a problem.THANK YOU for doing this. We thought we would have to go up and pay each time someone wanted something else, and were delighted that we didn't have to do so.  As pizza and salads arrived, and late guests showed up, they took their orders with smiles and greeted and sat them as if they were their guests. Thank you for making all of our twenty family members feel welcome once again :) everyone enjoyed it, and it was fantastic to not have to cook!

  • Jul 28, 2011 by marcie E.

My kids and I LOVE this place!  They are older - one is an adult - but the pizza is great.  None of that "commercial" style pizza that you find at Pizza Hut or Domino's.  The wait is a bit long; there is a piano player singing camp songs if you want to wait inside with free peanuts or you take take a nice walk outdoors.  Doc's ice cream is across the street and another good place to go and take it home, or to the hotel which is what we do..   We always visit Klondike's and Doc's when you visit Pismo Beach.

Had major reservations about going into a pizza joint in California, but it wasn't as bad as I was expecting...It's a great place to take kids (video games and picnic tables).  THe pizza I had was OK...I got the rajun cajun and the toppings were good...crust just OK but that's Calif. pizza for ya! In a small village where there aren't a lot of options for families, I'd go for this one if the kids are craving pizza. Get the Alaskan Amber beer and make sure you follow their "rules" for ordering and picking up your food properly or you may get a sneer....Seriously, they need to just have someone bring your drinks to you if they are going to have someone checking on tables anyway!   My wife got an awful burger there (I know...who orders a burger at a pizza joint??)

Crazy Pizza. From the Roadkill Pizza with Reindeer sausage, pepperoni, Italian sausage and Canadian style bacon to the Yukon Jack Burger 1/3 burger with Canadian Bacon and jack cheese on a warn french roll. You wont be disappointed. So grab those peanuts and throw the shells on the floor and grab a slice of food heaven.

  • May 17, 2011 by Fishesnloaves

Fun place to eat. We were a little scared when we first walked through the door, because it looked like a dive-y bar (with a bunch of guys standing around holding brewskis & cruising for chicks... Oh, but nevermind. They turned out to be a harmless group of European tourists who couldn't figure out where to sit...) Very friendly & helpful counter peeps who don't mind explaining the... um... different items on the menu (Roadkill, for example, in addition to all the different sauces) with a very family friendly atmosphere (despite the fact that it looks like a bar when you first walk in). There's straw on the floor & they keep serving you bowls full of unshelled peanuts (shells of which you are expected to chuck on the floor) & you have to be careful with these, or you will be nigh unto full by the time your pizza arrives! We really enjoyed our time here & the fun counter peeps who keep checking on you to make sure you're OK. Excellent customer service in a pizza joint? Unheard of.

  • Apr 20, 2011 by Gerry E.

My Wife and I Occasionally come here on Tuesdays, when they have "all you can eat" Pizza.....  You Pay up front, and then go grab a salad, garlic toast,  and your drink, and sit down at a table with your plate, and utensils.... and different pizza's are taken around to each table, and you get a variety of different tastes from a garlic chicken on white sauce to one that is called "road-kill on red"...  (basically their 4 meat pizza with red sauce)..  or if you prefer to order your own, that is available too....  the place is very casual, (peanut shells cover the floor like sawdust)....  and lots of games for the kiddies to play also.

  • Mar 28, 2011 by KD K.

Loved it! Drove up from LA for my cousin's 30 bday party. I brought my 1 yr old daughter who loved climbing up the wooden stairs (it was not crowded  on a rainy Sunday). We had the side room for the 25-30 people who were there, with a roped off area. My daughter loved the dirt/sawdust floor, the player piano, business cards on the walls, pinball and arcade games. Super kid friendly with changing tables in both unisex restrooms, milk cartons so little kids can play the arcade games. Handy reminder signs for parents to mind their children. Loved the sense of humor the owners had about their origin story (check out the wall in the back), the patio (nice if it weren't raining), their seating policies. Great parking in the back. The pizza was amazing....pepperoni delicious and spicy, one with canadian bacon and pineapple, one with breaded shrimp and lemon, one with grilled chicken and red onions, no tomato sauce. Drinks were huge but there's a kiddie size, and milk as well. Servers were friendly and kind.

  • Mar 20, 2011 by Andrew Harner

Terrible, overpriced pizza.. Cardboard crust, bland toppings, canned sauce. And it's expensive. I hate to say it, but this pizza was worse than Domino's and cost three times as much. And the atmosphere is like a Chuck E. Cheese, with video games and screaming kids. I really don't understand the appeal, but it seems to be an institution.

  • Mar 11, 2011 by Alicia V.

I've been going here since I was a little kid and love their pizza!! Their roadkill on whitesauce is a pizza you can find nowhere else.  It's great for kids since you can throw peanuts on the floor and there are arcade games.

  • Mar 06, 2011 by Amy D.

Pizza near the coast does not get any better than Klondike. We've been going to Klondike since our oldest child (now 19) was 4! There are so few places out of town that you can say you have visited enough that you actually have pictures of your kids through the years there. We've got some wonderful family memories built around our trips to Klondike. The kids look forward to our trips to the beach and Klondike is definitely the main highlight. We have actually taken day trips from Bakersfield, CA just to have Klondike Pizza and hang out at the beach for a little while before heading home. If you haven't experienced a Saturday night sing-along then you've missed out on a great night. It's a family tradition for us every time we go camping at Pismo or Morro Bay. We set up camp and drive back to Arroyo Grande for pizza at Klondike. We usually take a walk around Arroyo Grande after dinner and it's like a family night out of a fairy tale. Such a wonderful experience not to be missed! As always the ultimate test of good pizza is how good it is cold the next morning and Klondike never disappoints. My son is a die-hard pepperoni only guy but my husband and I love the Roadkill and the Denali. The pizza is always amazing, the salads are good and the beer is cold - highly recommend the Alaskan Amber. The owners' sense of humor is apparent throughout this unique establishment and the staff is always funny, friendly and treat you like a regular even when it's obvious you're there on vacation.

  • Feb 26, 2011 by Andrew H.

This might be a place to go if you're celebrating a children's birthday party and you don't want to drive to the nearest Chucky Cheese.   Pizza was expensive, with cardboard crust, sauce from a jar, and bland toppings.  Our side of garlic cheese bread was a very small portion, and the side of red sauce, which was refrigerator-cold, cost extra. We were the only party in here that didn't have small children with us, and even though over half the tables were empty we got sat next to the most rambunctious group. Honestly, I never thought I would give a pizza place one star, but here it is.

  • Feb 18, 2011 by Allegra P.

This place is a family favorite. Our favorite pizza is the Denali with red sauce. The only downfall is the price.  Small pizza and 1 drink = $19 but the atmosphere is fun. If you have kids, no need to worry about them being loud and the peanuts you can throw on the floor are yummy & fun!

  • Feb 02, 2011 by SLOreviews

Klondikes is a Joke!. Bad Pizza Place. Pizza was cold on all you could eat night. Staff was abusive. Staff kicked our family out because our children we're playing. Not a family friendly restaurant.

  • Jan 20, 2011 by Olivia M.

I have been going to Klondike Pizza since I moved to Arroyo Grande 16 years ago. I love their pizza and salads. It's a great place to have birthday parties and to take the kids. We love the Saturday night sing-a-longs but I'm biased because my husband is the piano player. If you want someplace fun and loud with really good pizza to take the kids this is your place!

  • Jan 17, 2011 by C K.

I've been here a few times since its a local "hot" spot. Really fun when you go for sing-a-long nights. Great place to take kids...there are arcade games and I remember loving it as a child. Peanut shell floor so there is no worry if your child spills. Pizza isn't the best in the world..their veggie pizza was kinda bland and its expensive. Its fresh and a local place, but I almost prefer the cheap fillingness of Domino's. And i don't like the fact you have to pay for ranch dressing, which a lot of restaurants are now doing.

  • Jan 01, 2011 by M D.

Fun ambiance, tons of knickknacks and enjoyable wall art/paraphernalia, kids game room, throw peanuts on the floor, etc. But food OK at best and service not the most accommodating/inviting/friendly - at least when I was there. UPDATE - May 2012 The service was really friendly and that was nice. And you can still get free peanuts and toss them on the floor - that's cool.  Unlike last time I ordered a burger instead of pizza. The burger was ok, not great but I should have known better. When you go to a pizza joint, order pizza.  The burger came on what appeared to be a hot dog roll and there was a lot more bread than beef. A small bag of Lays potato chips was included but that wasn't very impressive. I would have expected more personality and certainly not a small bag of chips you get in a discounted variety pack at Costco. Would I return? Probably but a lot of room for improvement.

always good, very consistent. fun atmosphere for a family or group event. video games and you can throw the peanut shells on the floor!

  • Nov 12, 2010 by Daniel U.

This is my favorite place for pizza.  Tuesday nights are all you can eat with a wide variety of pizzas made.  The kiddos love eating the whole peanuts and throwing the shells on the floor.

  • Nov 05, 2010 by Robert Z.

Let me preface this by saying that my family has been going to this place for a number of years and that I've been going there since the early 90's, counting my Cal Poly days.  I've always had good experiences here. But I've had two bad experiences in a row, within a week of each other.  The first was halloween just after trick or treating in the village.  We stopped in to get a pizza to go, along with the rest of AG.  We got our pizza and it was pretty well done, some might even say it was burned on the bottom.  I get it that they were busy that day and I just wrote it off  as a anomaly.  We went back tonight to get a pizza before going to a movie.  My wife called in our order because we were starving and wanted to have dinner soon.  When we got there it wasn't ready which wasn't a big deal, but we thought it was weird when the cashier clarified "oh , you want to eat it here now?"   Well, we had never told them it was to go, but she told us she would change it to an eat in order.  We waited a couple of minutes and they called our name to pick up our order which we thought was weird because in all the years we've been going there, they had always brought it out to the table.  After seeing that they had handed the boxed pizza back to the kitchen my wife assumed that the girl had forgotten to tell them that the order was for dine in.  We waited about 5 minutes and finally my wife went up to see if it was our pizza they called, which it was.  The girl behind the counter proceeded to let her know that the rules were, call in orders were for take out only and under no circumstances was it ok to call in an order to dine in.  The cook in the back walked up to apparently tell my wife the same thing, but the girl told him that my wife was already informed of the rule.  It was Saturday night and was pretty dead so it didn't seem like a big deal, but apparently it was.  Maybe revising this policy would be a good idea as every other pizza place we've ever been to seems to think so.  We like Klondikes  for the kid friendly atmosphere and will probably go back, but hopefully get a little friendlier service.   So the bottom line is minus 1 star for the burnt pizza and minus one star for the stern talking to my wife received. Finally, abide by the cardinal rule, if you're going to dine in, come on down and wait in line.

I love this place! I've been going here since I was a kid. The pizzas are good (go for the Roadkill). They've got beer by the pitcher, and the atmosphere is totally fun. They've got arcade games, free peanuts and SINGALONGS on Saturday nights! Great place to bring the family, especially after a soccer or softball game. If you have some spare time, you should visit their website. It's very entertaining.

    Tuesday night..."All you can eat"...right price..You can't beat it!!!

  • Aug 22, 2010 by T. A.

Family Restaurant.   This place is an epic good time.  I used to come here in college for the all you can eat Tuesday pizza night years ago.  On our family trip we ended up back here for the Saturday sing-along and it was great!  But you better be in a good, goofy mood or you might not enjoy it. The pizza was great as always - super cheesy though.  And the service was quick for as many people were there.   You can throw peanuts on the floor and there is a great arcade for the kids. A guy sits at the piano and everyone can have song book and you shout out song numbers and he will play them.  Everyone sings along and it is a jolly good time!!   I love Klondikes for the consistently good food and good time.  Everyone that works there is super nice and it is a GREAT place to take the kids.  Be SURE to read the Klondike story :)

  • Aug 16, 2010 by Wen Z.

well, so I finally decided to go to Klondike pizza to check out what everybody has been talking about...I would only give it a 3 star based on the followings: 1. the pizza is good but I really think it is over-priced. 2. you don't really get any service... anyway, I just don't think it is that special. I wouldn't crave it... so...

  • Aug 13, 2010 by Lisa G.

I took my kids to Klondike Pizza after finding a "Closed" sign at Alphy's Broiler.  Was immediately confused by the procedure...order at the counter, shuffle around the corner to pick up drinks, get seated. I didn't like the tip jar at the drink station...especially the preachy sign about tipping being good manners.   Here's a tip for ya...tips need to be earned first! My kids did like the peanut shells on the floor deal.  The pizza was good...yes, way cheesy, but the non-cheese lovers simply scraped off the excess cheese.  My favorite part of the whole Klondike experience was reading the story of how Klondike Pizza was started.   The place is okay, but I probably wouldn't return unless I again find a "closed" sign at Alphy's.

  • Aug 11, 2010 by Allison R.

Best CA pizza hands down I grew up in the village so I am partial. I crave their pizza all the time!

  • Aug 02, 2010 by Chantal B.

I LOVE Klondike pizza! my boyfriend and i come here with his family once a year when were at the lake. i love it so much, this year i asked them if i can buy there red pizza sauce, because i love it so much, i only get klondike once a year ONCE A YEAR!! i have withdrawls! So they were super kind and let me buy some. Klondike pizza is super themed its alaska meets twin pikes. sort of...  its very homely. you can throw your peanut shells on the floor. its a fun place to go with the family.

  • Jul 19, 2010 by Wen Z.

well last week I went there to check out what everybody has been talking about. The pizza is good everything is good. I give it a 3 star because I think it is a little overpriced. So I may not return there in a while...

    Try the "Roadkill on White"

  • Jun 25, 2010 by mark f.

Klondike is a themed restaurant which I am not too crazy about however, they offer a real American Pizza! We arrived around 8:15pm and our pizza came out at 8.:35 and sadly a few minutes later the staff started cleaning up so they could close.  They made us feel very Uncomfortable and without asking us if we were finished a staff member brought us a box and starting removing our plates--very rude, awkward and disrespectful.  Alas, the pizza was GOOD however, I won't recommend  Klondike Pizza... I will give Klondike 3 stars if the wait staff was more professional I would have given them a 5 star rating.

Bring quarters; the arcades here are pretty fun (Metal Slug!)

  • Jun 04, 2010 by PETER D.

Pizza is Pizza, right? WRONG ! Klondikes Pizza, located in the Old Arroyo Grande Town, is heads above all others. They naturally give you extra cheese, along with good amounts of your favorite choices. And, a Medium Pizza is so large that 3 adults could get stuffed . It smells great (I live right around the corner), the taste is great, crust perfect, and a unique ambience inside the reataurant. For locals and visitors, its somthing you should try !

The best pizza I've ever had! I first had the hawaiian pizza with their white sauce and I instantly fell in love.. And I went back for their never ending pizza night and I've never been so full.. I don't think I'd do that again knowing that I can't eat that much, but if I'm ever in the area craving pizza, this is the place I'm gonna go to.

They have peanut shells on the floor! I'd heard of restaurants like this, but I'd never been to one until going to Klondike. The inside is kind of like a Chuck E. Cheese, with all the colorful decór, neon signs and video games. But the pizza is way better. And their garlic bread is delicious. At each table, there's a book with song titles and numbers next to each one. You can shout out a number, and the man playing the piano will play the song for everyone in the restaurant to sing along to. It's a lot of fun when you're in a big group or with the kids. Sure, it's not the classiest joint, but it's a great place for family fun night -- if you do that sort of thing.

Our family's favorite pizza on the central coast!  The atmosphere is laid back and friendly.  My kids love eating peanuts and throwing the shells on the floor.  :-)  If you want to try a new flavor of pizza, but don't want to commit to a whole one, go on Tuesday nights to their "All You Can Eat Pizza".  They walk around with all sorts of flavors and you can try whatever you want!  Yummo!

The peanuts you get after you place your order are great.  That is the only nice thing I have to say about this place.  The wait was long and the tables were empty and not bussed.  We waited an hour and a half to get a table then had to wait in line to order, then waited in line for our drinks, then waited at the table for the food.  It's a lot of waiting for the amount and expense of the food.  There has got to be a better way to handle the crowds.   The pizza? Not so good.  I ordered a pizza with jalapenos on it.  I couldn't even eat it because they poured the jalapeno juice all over.  That is the only reason I can figure out why it was soggy and way to spicy to eat.  I love spicy food but this was ridiculous.   It is also very loud. You can't hear the person next to you talking, I was horse by the time I left.   I would have left right away but I was there for a party.  Next time I will respectfully decline.

Ok, the pizza was good. The experience, not so good. I've only been to Klondike's twice in my life with several years in between. You know how you sometimes think, "How come we don't go there more often?" Then when you do go, you remember the answer to your question. You stand in line to order your pizza and drinks. Once you're done with the order, you're seated by the "hostess". We were seated and trapped behind a party of little kids. Now, don't think that I'm being anti-child. We had our 8-year old with us. This just made it very difficult for us to get our own soda's and water. There were other tables that may have suited us better, not to mention the completely empty room on the other side. We asked if we could switch tables into the other room and we were actually denied because, "Those tables are being held in case larger parties come in." IN CASE she says. There I go instantly regretting the over-generous tip I left, considering the tip was left when you order the pizza even before you sit down. Then I watch her seat a party of 3 into the other room. I think our party of 4 is larger than 3. Maybe she isn't very good with math. Once the pizza arrived, our focus went to the food. The pizza was good. It doesn't really deserve much more than that. Now was the time to go home. I kept attempting to get the attention of the young lady who sat us at our table, denied us moving to another table, and consistently failed to acknowledge my attempt to get her attention, though we made eye contact several times, even after I began to leave my hand raised in the air. After several minutes, we finally just walked up to the counter and asked for something to take our pizza home in. Did they give us a box? No. They gave us a few flimsy sheets of foil. Will we be eating there again? I think not. If we really get the craving for specifically Klondike's Pizza, we will be ordering take out. If this review were based strictly on the flavor and quality of the pizza, I might have been persuaded to give it 3-4 stars, but unfortunately, the service completely turned me off to this place. Oh, and we still need to vacuum the floor of the car.

Over priced pizza that tastes slightly better than Chuck-e-Cheese. Way too much cheese on the pizza and the sauce was sweet and tasteless. I hate the floors! I read reviews that said it was a good place for kids...WRONG! Clarification-appropriate for older kids. We had a 1, 2 and 3 yr old in our group. Just imagine trying to keep your little one from sitting, kneeling, crouching or touching the ground! Let alone dropping a pacifier, blankie or toy.Oh, and imagine a spilled drink splashing onto the sawdust/peanut shell covered floor. How can this be cleaned??? It was a nightmare that turned into a thick cakey mud like texture that was impossible to keep our kids away from. I could not eat in peace as I was constantly making sure they dropped nothing and touched nothing on the floor. I'm not quite sure how this place can pass a health code inspection. Getting drinks was annoying. Having to wait for someone to come to the counter everytime was frustrating.   There are a few arcade games-again suitable for older kids, not those 5 and under! By the time we left, all of the bottoms of our pants were covered in the mess they call a floor. Make sure you don't wear pants or any kind of open toed -loose fitting shoe. Two of us wore flip flops (PRETTY COMMON SHOE ATTIRE FOR THE CENTRAL COAST)...big mistake. I will never come back here nor will the other people in our group!

I love the theme ... ok, I was born and raised in Alaska, so I'm sure I'm biased.   My 3 year old son refers to Klondikes as the "pizza store" ... "Daddy can we go to the pizza store? I want to eat peanuts, pizza and play games!" The staff at Klondike always give great service and good quality pizza! You won't be disappointed!

Torn in writing this review. LOVE the setting/atmosphere/$10 liter of decent red... Not such a fan of the pizza!  To me, sauce is everything, and this one is a bit too sweet.   Atmosphere definitely overcompensated for the pizza quality here, so much so, that I just may be back...

This is a great place to bring the kids!  Upon ordering your pizza at the counter, the waiters hand you a basket of peanuts in the shell to nibble on while we waited for our pizzas.  I watched as my kids ate their peanuts and neatly put their shells in a pile on their table.  Then I told them the good news: "You get to toss the peanuts shells on the floor!"  My children looked at me with an expression of astonishment and delight, then quickly assimilated to the atmosphere, happily eating peanuts and discarding the shells on the floor. We shared two salads and a couple of pizzas.  We had an Asian Chicken Salad with mandarin oranges and sliced almonds which was delicious and a Cobb salad that the other people in my party enjoyed.  I enjoyed the Pepperoni Pizza: it had lots of delicious sauce and plenty of spicy pepperoni.  My husband also tried the Barbecue Chicken Pizza and said the pepperoni was better. We usually visit SLO a few times a year and I definitely think we'll be coming back to this joint the next time we do.

Staff very helpful and food was delicious but it's like chuck e cheese on a haystack inside.

Fun & crazy! Pizza comes around to you in an endless choice of different styles. This is a great place for family or very casual dining.

Our family loves it.  It's a big favorite for birthdays, especially for our daughter.  The pizza is generally great.  We LOVE the Roadkill pizza, but found that our stomachs just don't tolerate it well.  Could be the reindeer sausage.  Try it - you may have a better stomach than we do, and the taste is good. DO NOT go to this place if you have an issue with peanuts.  Seriously - peanut shells on the floor, and peanuts for free - not safe for the allergic.   They also have a location in Santa Maria, but it doesn't have the charm of this one.  The food, however, is just as good! Also, watch out for "All You Can Eat" night - it can be insanely busy.  I think it's on Tuesdays...

Good pizza nice atmosphere! i don't live in Arroyo Grande, though I've driven down specifically to go to Klondike's. Nice time for the whole family.

We found this place on Yelp and I gotta say, it was a perfect find!!!  We walked in and the decor was a mismosh of randomness yet with a purpose.  We ordered the Denali Pizza with red sauce (super yummy) and a pepperoni with red sauce (equally as yummy).  There wasn't a traditional crust around the pie, but more of a crusty/crispy pizza sauce and bread crust.  It was Super tasty and very delightful to eat!  The side salad was perfect size and the blue cheese was tasty.  And how could you go wrong with a pitcher of beer...yum. The decor in the dinning room area is awesome.  There are so many peanut shells that have been ground down to dust that it looks like you are walking on dirt.  The 18yo walks you to a table, puts the basket of peanuts in the center with your number and sends you over to the bar to get your drinks.  You are encouraged to throw the peanuts on the floor (kids love it). There is a "ragtime" piano that, for a $1.00, plays itself.  Don't sit next to it.  It can be loud when the 8yo little girl comes over with her gapped tooth mother (that shouldn't be eating pizza) plays it, video tapes it and sequels at the annoying music.  Just take my advise. Overall, the food was great and it is a VERY "locals" restaurant.   We will for sure be back.  I just wish they had one in Orange County!

This review is inspired by a recent Talk thread and is dedicated to everyone who is on a quest for the "Best Pizza"... Remember that show from the 90's, Northern Exposure?, a young Jewish doctor finishes medical school in NYC and moves to Alaska, where he is THE physician for the whole village...Just as Dr Fleischman was out of place moving from The City to Alaska, Klondike Pizza is amazingly out of place...I HAD TO GO THERE!! Walk-in and you feel like you're somehow on the set.  Sawdust on the floor...it's a consistent Alaskan theme throughout the restaurant, down to the moose!  I usually hate themes, but Klondike Pizza works...I'm not sure why, maybe because you've never seen an Alaskan themed anything before... Crisp tasty crust...sweet sauce all balanced by rich toppings like reindeer sausage!!  Huge pizza that you can't stop eating,  Damn it's good...Loved it?, lookin' for a lil' something extra?, pick up some reindeer jerky for the road!

Pizza Rocks. Not your ordinary pizza joint. Deer sausage topping on the pizza is one of my favorites. If you eat there you can throw the peanut shells on the floor.

  • Feb 20, 2009 by Emily M.

Never found its equal. Crispy crust...sweet sauce...high quality toppings...Klondike salad with all the fixins and if it's Tuesday...my husband rushes to nab the last piece of bread while I wait patiently for a fresh steaming platter and my pick of the litter.  Trip after trip to the salad bar for shitty ice berg mix that's a little wet from being washed.  Pour on the Ranch and some how this becomes the most refreshing accidental lettuce concoction ever.  I dream about this sometimes.  It can't be re-created.  Should I start with white sauce or hold out  for my favorite?  OMG!  Nevermind...lemme get a piece of that! Can't eat anymore?...let's go play pinball!

I absolutely LOVE this place! I've been coming here since I was a little girl at Branch Elementary for our weekly Pizza Night. I moved away several years ago but I come back often and EVERY time it is essential that I make a trip to Klondike's; I usually order an EXTRA pizza to take to go! My boyfriend is from the Bay Area and I brought him here for the first time a few months back and he was blown away!! I don't know HOW they do it, but the LOAD the pizza with delicious toppings and the crust is perfect every time, NEVER soggy! There is a bit of a wait time, but good food takes time; I'd wait an eternity for pizza this good!! Oh God! I need Klondike's now! Start one in L.A., PLEASE! We're in dire need of good pizza here!!

Klondike's has good pizza and a great atmosphere. From the Alaskan wilderness decor to the peanut shells on the floor, it is a fun place to visit. They also have the typical pizza place arcade room. A great place to go with the kids.

As I head down to AG I'm reminded of this GREAT pizza house.  Sawdust floors, crowded, loud, everyone was singing, and it was just a big party.  The pizza was really excellent (as opposed to most pizza houses in San Mateo) and high quality.  Thankfully we sat in the corner so that I had two walls protecting me from flying food and children carrying on.  It was fun but after a while I realize that I love kids but am just fine not having had any.

When I was a kid, this was my favorite restaurant. I loved the Alaskan theme. The free peanuts, the pizza, the fun. Then we moved to away and everyone in my family complained that nothing was as good as Klondikes. Recently, I took my own kids to Arroyo Grande (its near Pismo Beach) to see where I grew up and the Klondike is still there. And as great as ever! Nothing has changed. But as an adult I truly appreciate just how good the pizza is and how great this place is for families.

  • Apr 24, 2008 by Isaiah N.

Alaskan-themed pizza place complete with Alaska memorabilia, a small arcade, and peanuts. If you are adventurous, try the Klondike pizza, which has sausage made out of reindeer! The pizzas are good here, and you can pick from mini size all the way to x-tra large. The floor might freak some people out, but that's ok cuz you can toss your peanut shells on it! You also have to wait 20 minutes or more for your pizza, but it is worth the wait.

My husband and I have lived all over the US and Klondikes is by far the best pizza we have found. We love the cozy, alaskan theme. And our kids love the free peanuts. The owners are from Alaska and the employees are very nice and helpful. But the best part is the pizza! Try the Reindeer Sausage pizza. And they have two sauces. Red and a garlic one. The garli is really good with the Hawaiian - I didn't used to like Hawaiian style pizza until I had it at the Klondike. They also have really good burgers and salads - but go for the pizza and the fun!
