The scam is that you book the room with "no refunds." Then you check in and sign your credit card receipt before going to the room. You get to the room and it's filthy. There is dirt on the floor, ceiling and walls. There couldn't be any Covid-19 sanitizing measures being taken, because regular cleaning isn't done. The smoke alarm is missing from it's mount. There is hair on the mattress. There is rust covering the air vents. The furniture is old and broken. There is no working air conditioning or heat. The bathroom has mold. You say you want a refund and refuse to stay there, but since you've already walked into the room, they can't rent to anyone else or get a cleaning staff in to clean your room that day, so they claim they've lost the money on the room because of you. They'll give you 50% refund. If you accept, you only lose half of your money. (The room for a Saturday night was $198.) But if you say you'll dispute with credit card company, they charge you 100% and say they'll send the copies of your signed receipt to the credit card company. Judging from these reviews, they've been running this trick for many years.

Not a good hotel and definitely not worth the price. The tub took a while to drain, restroom door didn't close, and front door didn't lock, ac didn't work so the owner got us a fan but it was still too hot, ice and vending machine weren't working, my boyfriend was trying to get a drink from the vending machine and found a AR15 bullet in the coin despenser. NOT RECOMMEND!!!

  • Sep 11, 2020 by Machinima DECENDENTX

Shhhh it was OK overall but a few problems we ran into was the heater did not work. So the person at the desk gave us a portable heater....that has had problems in the past (see in pictures). The place is being remodeled so hope the next time people will have a better experience. Best part is the place is close to parks and the pier.

Good place wife and i was very happy with place good place good stuff

  • Sep 07, 2020 by Igor K

Dog friendly hotel next to a nice park, staff is friendly, 2 short blocks away from the beach... Rooms and hotel need renovations. A/C was not working

  • Aug 28, 2020 by Helen Garcia

Our room was so old!! And we paid a lot for that room #9 it was a cracker jack box!! Chipped Paint , oh so many things were wrong in that room

  • Aug 27, 2020 by David Birau

First & last time in a 1 star hotel. No AC/Heater, found two roaches in my room when I woke up, shower/sink doesn't drain well, and found some hair in my bed.

  • Aug 17, 2020 by Alina estrada

DO NOT BOOK A ROOM HERE, THE PICTURES ARE FALSE ADVERTISING. Doesn’t come with a fridge or a microwave. Screen on window was cut and bathroom doesn’t have a screen on window. Found multiple hairs on bed and towels. Smoke detector was gone. Tv didn’t work. There was also no toilet paper and there was a whole in the restroom door.

  • Aug 11, 2020 by TillieMae Jolly

When we first arrived Around 10 PM we were given a room and a key we parked the car by the room and opened the door to find a couple SLEEPING IN THE BED! How insane I was so frightened I couldn’t imagine if I was sleeping and someone just walked in, I immediately shut the door and went to the office and he just asked if they noticed me(they didn’t seem to have woken up) and I told him I didn’t know and that I just shut the door and he said good and gave me a new room to which my review pertains to. No breakfast, pool was closed, rust on and in ice machine, room was tiny, holes in the wall, no ac/heater, mold under glass plates on side tables shower clogged, no toilet paper, no microwave, bed squeaked, And the carpet was so stained.

  • Aug 11, 2020 by Jessica Avila

Been going since I was a child! Friendly service! Affordable, comfortable ,clean! Thank you! Stayed 5days wish I would've stayed more!

  • Jul 29, 2020 by Monica Guzman

Room #5 and room #19 where damaged. Hole in the wall, restroom door broken couldn't even get out. The lock was jammed. There was no air, no phone service. Floors where dirty turn our feet black. Rail on bed was out hurt my self. Tagging on mirrors and Black mole in restroom. Need a major remodeling.

  • Jul 19, 2020 by Amanda Aguilar

Staff was super friendly, lots of room, and Walking distance to the beach (so I'll stay again) BUT I don't think paying a little over $400 a night is reasonable. The roaches should at least pay half (found 8 in 4hrs). Restroom could use a new toilet. Next time imma bring a can of roach spray and Lysol

  • Jul 17, 2020 by J Garvel

place was great to sleep but the rug seems to used or old the TV never worked the shower

  • Jul 04, 2020 by Emily Spradlin

We made a reservation a year in advance for the forth of july. When we showed up to check in they tell us that our reservation was canceled. We never canceled our reservation and on expedia it says our reservation was still active. He then said we could stay there but for a much higher price. Blue Seal Inn tried to scam us and made our trip incredibly difficult.

  • Jun 26, 2020 by kelly Mccullar

The front desk person was super friendly! Our room was great! Short walk to the beach and park.

  • Jun 19, 2020 by Carisma Arreguin

This hotel is the worst hotel ever. The tv did not work, there is no ac or heater, there is no wifi. Staff does not seem to care. Never again will I ever stay here. If I could put a zero I would!

  • May 26, 2020 by Mariah Gonzalez

Definitely not worth the price! Ac/heater did not work, sink toilet AND bathtub were clogged and they had no maintenance on ground to come fix it! No blankets just sheets, and the housekeeper left open our door after cleaning and had some of our items stolen which the owners did not seem to care or help!!

  • May 24, 2020 by Andrea Mulkin

Decent hotel. We normally stay here everytime we visit pismo. Only downside we didn't have a mini fridge

  • May 24, 2020 by Veronica Areyano

Not a very clean and comfortable place. Beds made noise everytime you turn over. The restroom was so small and the toilet paper roll was not attached to the wall, due to it being broken. I made a reservation and when I went to check in they said I canceled it??? So sad and I had to pay all over again just to get stuck in a dirty room. The bed sheets smelled so bad like if they have not been washed. The TV was bolted on the wall so crooked. So be careful staying here.

  • May 19, 2020 by Jose Rodriguez

Never again I would rent a room from everything was broken nothing work it smell like mold in the room he's rude then raised priceless at the last minute... I would recommend nobody rent from him...

  • Feb 05, 2020 by Lynn Heinsohn

The rooms themselves were not that impressive old furniture is sparsely situated where there was very little but what was good was the price for the room and also that they allowed us to take another couple of days and gave us the same rate as if we had made the reservation granted it was offseason but still they work for this and I remember that blue seal in from when I was a young kid going to school in Pismo Beach it hasn't changed much

  • Jan 05, 2020 by Roberto Lopez Santiago

Mold everywhere , filthy rooms this is not a place you want to sleep in with dirty sheets especially if you have kids with you.
Health department definitely needs to pay them a visit

  • Jan 02, 2020 by Breanna Davis

    DISGUSTING ROOMS!!!!!!!
Mold everywhere, dirty sheets, gas was turned off so there was no hot water or heater working. The staff was not there, lobby door was locked with a note to call the phone number provided, no one ever answered the phone/ called me back. They double charged for the room and would not refund me my money! THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN!

  • Jan 01, 2020 by Gray T.

Worst hotel in Pismo! Room Was horrible, hair on towels and sheet. No heat, room was dirty. No one at front desk. Refused to refund me. Will never go back. Will tell everyone I know not to stay there! Zero stars!!

  • Dec 29, 2019 by Adam Compton

If i could give 0 stars I would. Do not stay here. It is one of the worst experiences I have had with a hotel in well over a decade. Floors were dirty, curtains were very dusty, room smelled of smoke, window seal in bathroom was completely covered in dust, ... list just goes on. I asked to move rooms and the other rooms were just as bad. On the second day, we packed up and went to stay with family just to get out of the room, we did not check it yet though and they still rented the room again as we were not in the room. We asked at the beginning and later on as well, but they refused to provide any form of refund.

  • Dec 25, 2019 by emmad jazayeri

Never try this dirty, nasty place. The room’s heater doesnt work and you can see the huge moles on the bath shower cotton , it was the worst please I've ever been in my life. Also they say in advertising that they serve breakfast but they don't have anything

  • Dec 01, 2019 by Chelsea D.

2 stars just for the nice gentleman who checked us in, AJ.  Everything else about this hotel was not nice; burnt cigarette holes in the bed sheets, boogers on the walls, no continental breakfast as advertised on the website or the sign in the check in office, and warm water didn't last long.

  • Nov 29, 2019 by K McGowan-Bretz

Cozy, affordable, and easy access to all the pismo beach area activities and attractions

  • Nov 21, 2019 by Rudy Munguia

Comfortable beds, clean room and bathroom. Walking distance to the pier at an affordable price.

  • Oct 29, 2019 by Melissa G.

This place is horrible ...poor service..no smoke alarms shower was leaking no heat..heater was coming off wall...was afraid to turn it on yet Manager said it was fine it works...no smoke detectors...towels we're dirty..when he switched us rooms after complaining several times he got mad and next morning said he was gonna charge us extra 40$ if we wanted to. Continue to stay in the room switched..I asked for a refund and he stated "no refunds"ruined our family vacation..will never stay here again

  • Oct 23, 2019 by Jessica A.

The Blue Seal Inn is a great place to stay if you can't afford anything better. Literally nothing works. The internet is horrid, the blinds don't close, and the sink doesn't drain. There's no air conditioning and the bed is so profoundly uncomfortable that, after the first night, I bought a mattress topper from Target. I don't mind a cheap motel, but this is one is just awful. Don't wasted your money. Stay somewhere else.

  • Oct 16, 2019 by Micah

Our room appears to have been remodeled in the last year. The room was clean, included refrigerator and microwave. I liked the shower massage after walking around all day. Convenient walk to the Pismo Beach Pier.

  • Oct 13, 2019 by Jacqueline Gonzales

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL WHATSOEVER! No heated pool as stated on website, dirty rooms, stained towels, no hot water in shower, and I woke up with flea bites all over my body! & the bed is about to break! It squeaked all night long felt like it was gonna fall to the floor, so uncomfortable!!

  • Oct 09, 2019 by Joshua Starnes

Had a wonderful time with my wife and our twin infants. Can't wait to do it again...... hopefully just me and the misses next time

  • Sep 14, 2019 by Fatih O.

First off, i got a non smoking room, i walked into the room and it had  a really strong cigarette odor. Couldn't get my money back. I was already there so i said F it. The main reason i choose this hotel was for there "heated" pool. I had took my time to change into a swimsuit and when i had put my foot in it, i kid you not it was colder than the ocean. I was quoted 100 and after fees on top of fees it came out to 140, not worth it at all! I PERSONALLY WONT GO HERE AGAIN THEY PROMOTE THE BREAKFAST BUT IT IS JUST OLD SOGGY 99 cent pastries and coffe in the small ass office. The rooms have no ac so youll be sweating in the stinky room . Stay away from this sh*t hole

  • Sep 12, 2019 by Maria Metrejon-Martin

If I could give it a zero star I would. Room smelled like straight up piss. Bathroom was covered in mold. Tried to get our money back after we made the complaints and the owner said "I don't like people coming into my hotel and telling me what's wrong with it." Upgraded our room, but still wouldn't give us our refund back. Says "no refunds" because i guarentee as soon as you see half of the rooms you'll vomit.

  • Sep 03, 2019 by Kristi J.

This was the worst place to stay. Rooms are disgusting! No air conditioning, no toiletries, and owner was rude and a liar. I prepaid for my room, got there and then they charged me 3 times more. I will never go back!

  • Aug 31, 2019 by Aly Vancil

We walked in and the room it had a weird smell, we had to air out the room. The restroom window had hair on it, and it had no screen. All of the towel rods in the room were removed. There were holes all over the room that were plastered, but not painted over. I will try to add photos of the room.
There was also black mold on the floor boards in the bathroom. There was no smoke detectoin the room
    .

Wow.  Wowwwwww.  My fiancé booked on Hotwire for $240 tonight.  Do not do it.  Upon arrival it looked like somewhere in the movies where people die.  Entering the unit assigned to us was a blast of cigarette & cat litter to our nostrils.  The bed was springs like from the 60s and never upgraded.  The linens smelled.  Everything was dirty.  GROSS.  we immediately called to cancel and get a refund.  RUN FAR AWAY.

  • Aug 31, 2019 by Alberto B.

I can't believe I got charged so much($244) to stay at this dump.  We booked on hotelwire app and it gave me a reservation at this hotel. As I opened the door to the room the first thing that hit me was a mixed smell of smoke and cat litter. Immediately called Hotwire to get a refund, and the f#@& out of there. If I could give this place negative stars I would. They refunded me the amount, which should take a couple days but I will never stay at this location.  DO NOT PAY TO STAY THERE.

  • Aug 19, 2019 by Lauren J.

The guy is a total jack ass tried to charge deposit for having a friend visit very rude wouldn't recommend

  • Aug 16, 2019 by Crystal S.

If there's any advice i could give you about this motel is to RUN AWAY. We saw the awesome price and " breakfast included" and thought to ourselves its the best option for the price. But you definitely dont even get what we paid for. For 70$ (taxes included) you'd expect a clean sanitary room and a breakfast like they promoted. However, we showed up to dirty pillows and sheets. We even looked if there were bugs around! Unfortunately since you are unable to get a refund (no matter what) we were stuck. But at least we get free continental breakfast in the morning right? Wrong. They have store bought 99 cents pastries and coffee. It was gross to sleep here, the "breakfast" was a joke and to help others from making the right decision, i'd spend those extra $10/$15 dollars to avoid staying in a place like this. Leave these rooms for the juncies

  • Aug 11, 2019 by Niles Cummings

Can get a better price if you call them. And not use a website. Could get a better deal cash. Save maybe 20 or 30 bucks.close to beach, store and,a park.where u can bbq.
Only set backs beds are kind of hard. And NO AC! But weather is so good dont really need it.

  • Aug 04, 2019 by Paulina Christenson

Spend the extra $100 per night for a better hotel!

    The Good:
The only bright side is that it's walking distance from the beach and there's plenty of parking.

    The Bad:
The hotel has no AC and the only window is facing the hall where everyone walks by. I was traveling solo with two kids, so I didn't feel safe sleeping with it open. To top it off, the room also has an old dingy smell. Mattress, pillows and bedding are cheap and uncomfortable. The mattress felt like I was sleeping on the floor. While getting the sheets off the mattress to check for bed bugs, i didn't see any, I got a nice dust cloud to the face. Pillows are flat and worn. Sleeping in a hot, stinky, uncomfortable room was no fun. The only bright side is that the boys didn't notice any of that stuff.
The hot water doesn't work, and tub took 30 mins to drain after a shower.

    The Ugly:
Everything looks like its 30 years old: the decor, bed, towels, carpet and furniture. When I held a towel up I saw light coming through it because they're so thin and worn out.

The hotel was sold out at 300/night. You'd think they can spend some of that money updating at least the beds, bedding, and towels.

When I filtered for a room I asked for A/C because if it becomes too hot I would be sick, when I asked the front desk about this he told me, they don't have those rooms and they are booked he then told me that I could leave the front door open while me and my 4yo sleep. Yea not going to happen. We showered and just went back home, they rented out our room and didn't give us any credit I'm sure.

  • Jul 26, 2019 by Autumn Cox

I booked through Travelocity. This place was 150 on a weekday pictures of the rooms are not what they actually look like they poor me and my 2 young girls in the corner room. When we walked in we instantly started sweating no AC the room smelled like rotten fish the beds were so broke down my 9 year old couldfeel the springs there was a big sack of thrash outside or door there was no way I was having my children stay there. When I went to talk to there no one was in the office so I found a much nicer room for the same priceright on the beach. I called to get a refund through Travelocity about call the hotel to tell them they could regent that hole and the hotel told Travelocity that they do not refund and had already rerented. I would not recommend this place I would not let my big stay there ig you need a place the Edgewater inn is amazing and clean.

DON'T DO IT!! This place smelled awful, walls were dirty, carpet was disgusting I didnt dare walk barefoot, side table was disgusting, bathroom door wouldnt close, toilet paper holder was broken, shower handle was broken and hanging off the wall, shower had mold everywhere, large crack in the front window, walls so thin I could hear every sound in the room next to us. We stayed out as late as possible and left early just to spend as little time as possible there. I don't know how this place is still open. Splurge and stay in a nice place so you can actually enjoy your time at Pismo Beach. Dont be fooled by the pictures they have posted. Our room looked nothing like those pictures. Avoid this place.

  • Jul 17, 2019 by Jennifer A.

If I could give this is zero stars I would! Absolutely disgusting, the smell was so terrible we had to leave our room in the middle of the night and go find another room after complaining to the rude manager who did nothing about it. I've stayed here several times over the years and while I knew it wasn't the best place ever, it was at least decent enough to stay. The floor had stains everywhere the smell was unbearable and customer service is a big problem! Also, make sure you stay away from booking.com because they are useless in helping resolve any issues as well.

  • Jul 14, 2019 by Sabetha J.

Pretty pricey for a single night stay, which was just over 200(with pet fee). The front desk person was extremely nice and accommodating.  Had the room booked for upstairs but my dog wouldn't have that.  He was kind enough to book us into a room downstairs. The room itself wasn't bad.  There was enough space,  tv with cable,  outlets by the beds, clean floors and bedding, bath/ shower WITH curtain, fridge/freezer and microwave.  Big plus for those with pets, there is a cute little park around the corner with lots of room. Hotel is within walking distance to downtown Pismo. Only negative would be NO AC. Having the window open did let the cool breeze in, except at night when the neighbors decided to get to their room at 0230 and continue to talk and laugh loudly outside until 4am. There is no front desk,  so trying to get ahold of someone to have them ask to keep it down was impossible. I ended up yelling a few obscenities out the window and they seemed to take the hint(Show some respect people,  you aren't the only ones here). Other than that.  Great place to lay you're head down at night.

  • Jun 25, 2019 by ibhayhay

The best thing about this motel is the location. It is not cheap, as we got the room for over 200 bucks a night. It did do the trick, as we were there to have a good time and that meant drinking as well. It is close enough to everything so you don't have to drive , just in case you can't. It takes 10 minutes to walk to the action of the beach and the pier. Our room was clean, but in bad need of an update. Our keys did not work and the person in the lobby told us they were probably deactivated from being in our wallets. No. Aside from that, we were able to sleep and did not have to drive back home drunk.

  • Jun 18, 2019 by Tatiana P.

I would give this review less than 1 star but it wont let me. Rooms were disgusting. I couldn't believe there was no shower curtain or bath plug. Towels were stained and worn out. Walls had paint chipping and a perforated area as if they were going to try to fix something. Roomed smelled bad. Walls had filth on them. Looked like maybe ketchup dried up. Could have been blood for all we knew but we left asap. I am not one to post reviews but this needed to be known. This is not Ok.

  • Jun 12, 2019 by Pouxie11

If you’re on a tight budget this place will do however don’t expect much. The room was clean but dated and could probably use a renovation, the pool seemed clean but I didn’t use it so this is only a visual opinion. I don’t think I could recommend a long stay at this place but if you need a bed while passing through town it will do, any there is no coffee in the room and no continental breakfast even though it’s on the sign.

  • Jun 11, 2019 by Laurie H.

It says online that check-in is after 3. I arrived, tired after driving all day, at 6:40 to a handwritten sign on the office door that said check-in time after 7 PM. So I went and got a sandwich at Subway. Come back and check in at 7. The room is not great. Torn carpet, damaged walls, rusty old heater in the wall. NO A/C! UGH. Ok, well, guess maybe I'll open the windows. Only one of the two has a screen! I don't think my room has bedbugs, at least... But I would definitely not stay here again.

  • Jun 07, 2019 by Tatiana Pollastrini

I definitely don't recommend this place. The room was dirty and towels were stained. The bathroom had no shower curtain. No a.c or heater. The walls were dirty. Also there was a strange cut in the wall where it looked like they were going to install something but changed their mind. They were friendly and location is great and thats why I gave them 1 star.

  • May 09, 2019 by Nate Higginson

Cheap, great location. Friendly manager. No breakfast even though the sign advertises it. Rooms are basic, pretty clean.

  • Apr 29, 2019 by Tom N.

Wish I had looked at Yelp before booking this hotel.  Never again. Checked out management team here 1) called me twice while I was en route to the hotel- didn't mind the first call but once I told you when I'd arrive what is purpose of second call?  Not a big deal but a little indicator that they aren't keeping track of who they called and instead are just calling all of their non-arrivals periodically.... 2) Booking.com had this as a 6.2 which I can see is mostly due to location.  Which granted, close to the beach and downtown but this thing is a hole - should have looked at the ranking for cleanliness 5.7 or facilities 5.3 - after experiencing I would say those numbers are over rated.  Room is the minimum untouched need to do to be called a hotel room.  Super institutional tile and the lowest grade furniture and decor you could possibly buy and when I got up in the morning found that the faucet control for the shower was not connected and was sitting in the corner of the tub - how do they not notice this either as a management team or the cleaning staff?  Kinda looked like this is just how it is.... 3) when I got back to my room late at night I found ten plus people throwing a raging party with very loudly thumping music blaring with several people partying on the steps to their room.  Called the front desk - no answer.  Called the cops who handled it.  Eventually got a hold of the front desk and they have a clear view of the room partying and acted like it just started up.   I find it hard to believe that I magically arrived within minutes of when this party started up 4) freaky scary people wandering around the property the next morning 5) I'll give them credit here - on check out they offered a $25 credit which while being way less than the amount maybe it should have been sent a long way as a gesture of goodwill 6) on my way home I get a call from the hotel owner that started with him accusing me of leaving without paying remainder of the bill owed and before I could get a word in with him he launched into a tirade about my throwing a party in the room - after working to finally get him to listen to me he realized he had called the wrong number (see notes above about checked out management that doesn't take good notes).  Now I'm worried he is going to bill me the $500 party/cops showing up charge he threatened me with when he though I was in room 26 instead of 25..... Avoid this place like the plague

  • Apr 22, 2019 by Yesel Magana

The Blue Seal Inn is the most horrible place to stay in, I would never recommend this place to anyone not even if they are on a budget sleep in your car it’s much more clean and safe. This place was a disaster the pool is not clean and it’s definitely not heated the rooms are filthy the prices are lies the staff is rude there is condoms all over the floor outside the parking lot broken glass in the drawers the rooms are not safe for kids there is pet hair everywhere its horrible my family and I got room 22 for 3 days after the first day we decided to sleep in are van because it was honesty the safest thing to do than to sleep in room 22 and only used the room for the bathroom. The only good thing is that my family did bond and agree about how much the Blue Seal Inn sucked and we will never ever return!!!

  • Mar 31, 2019 by Timothy Fair

Decent cheap motel in town. You get what you pay for. Knocked off a star because the sign says free continental breakfast but they no longer offer breakfast. Also another star for heated pool that had no heat. The rooms needed a little tlc.. but the bed was super comfy!

  • Mar 17, 2019 by Elihu Cobb III

Horrible hotel!!! It shouldn’t even be 1 star it should be 0 stars! The Indian guy at the front desk yelled at me over the phone when I was simply trying to ask a question, and when I went into the actual office he yelled at me and cut me off, didn’t let me speak. Horrible service, no wonder this hotel is rated so poorly, better off paying 20 more dollars at a different hotel. He also charged my debit card 3 different times without my consent !!!! A Marriott hotel or any other place would not ever compare one bit. I hope this place goes out of business

  • Mar 13, 2019 by Marcos Garcia

We were given a room with the bathroom door broken, however most of the problems we had were addressed, its not the best but its a good deal for a room. I would recommend for anyone who's on a budget, I didn't mind the stay because I can tell the owners try their best and I appreciate the hard work and honesty

  • Feb 25, 2019 by Trinidad V.

Very bad place to spend the night the bed had hair not one not  2 several the bathroom had no doorknob and the shower curtain had mold I would not recommend this place

  • Feb 22, 2019 by Korey Hamel

*USE CAUTION* BEWARE, if you absolutely have to stay here keep your curtains closed, door locked and latched and keep an eye on the shifty man running the front desk. He likes to enter the room unannounced, preferably when he knows there is a woman in the room. This wasn't the first time (for us either) and I'm sure won't be the last. When I confronted him, he chuckled.. I reminded myself he is not worth my freedom. (Proper action has been taken on this matter.) The rooms are small, dirty and the fact that I had to choose between a fridge and microwave or a heater was icing on the cake... Even though it stated online as well as my booking itinerary they wouldn't budge. No ice machine... Location is the only good thing about this place, thankfully there are plenty within a stone's throw with same if not better pricing. You have been warned and informed. Hope it doesn't happen any more.

Terrible place to stay in. Owner cancelled our reservations because he claimed our credit card company declined our stay which wasn’t true he just wanted to double charge us for our stay. We ended up paying cash at the hotel because he threaten us to give the last rooms he had available to someone else. It was a holiday weekend and every hotel in town was fully booked so we paid cash. When we got home we found out that he indeed processed our reservation. Luckily our credit card company refunded us. The rooms on the other hand are terrible they aren’t clean very dirty and have a foul smell. Also parking is terrible you’ll have to leave your car there and go walking otherwise you’ll your lose parking space.

Me and my family stayed at the inn, we hesitated to rent the motel because of reviews. We have no regrets. We were treated great by owner and staff. It's close to a park you can barbeque at. Walking distance to the beach. We had a wonderful time. We will continue to use this motel. Thank you.

Bed bugs, pee on the bed, peeling paint, tweakers everywhere, mold, and even the sheets aren't clean. 0/10 do not recommend

Wouldn't recommend unless no other vacancies. Very nice staff. Needs to be remodeled.

This place has bed bugs. Please get in touch with me to discuss how you want to compensate me for treating my apartment and clothes.

    Wow! Wow!! Wow!!!
Do not go here ever. I'm warning you. I asked for a non smoking room and they put us in room #20. I almost threw up it was so gross. We got hit with a wall of foul odors and cigarette smoke. Asked for a better room and the same thing. They are tiny rooms that are old. They need to catch up with the times. Pismo is growing but blue seal is not

Don’t go there!! This hotel is a complete dive. Needs a complete over haul. Carpet is covered in stains. Holes in walls. My room smelt of stale urine. Furniture and carpets need to be taken out and burned. If u have booked this place drive straight past it and find somewhere else even if it means losing the money from your booking..

Wish I could give one star. The sign is a lie. The pool isn't heated. My friend's family and I stayed for one night and when we woke up I noticed there was bugs in the bed (which was uncomfortable). My friend ended up getting bit all over. That's disgusting, bugs should not be visible like that. The owner offered 15% off for "next time." There won't ever be a next time. The price may be low and it may be super close to the beach, but it's not worth it. The owner responded to my review on google saying "they checked my room and that there was no bugs" ... yet I'm not the one who booked the room and i didn't say what room we stayed in. So how would they even know? And what's this in the pictures then? NEVER STAY AT THIS PLACE

  • Oct 03, 2018 by Isobelle Culaba

Worst place I've ever stayed at ever (and I constantly travel internationally) The bathroom had the worst mold right in front of the toilet. I couldnt even look at it or go comfortably in the bathroom. The carpet was super dusty, didn't seem like they cleaned it at all. The bed sheets and pillow cases still had slight stains on it. There were crumbs on the bed. For a place that charged us over a hundred dollars a night, this was a complete nightmare. Did not feel comfortable in this place.

Location of this place is great.  Walking distance to pier and beach.  That's where it ends.  No phones in the room to call front desk.  No iron or ironing board in rooms or on site. Very dirty rooms.  Got a non-smoking room that stunk like a dirty ashtray with the smoke detector removed.  Total dump.  If you can stand this type of room the location is very good.

  • Sep 23, 2018 by Tomster L.

It's very basic older hotel but it's got clean sheets! It smelled a little bit like they recently fumigated maybe to Recent. You should probably bring your own soap and shampoo. There is is very cheap generic package of shampoo and soap. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. My lungs hurt a little bit from the smell which I hope was not fumigation But otherwise if you're looking for a very basic older spot to sleep near the beach then it's fine if under 100, As the price changes

Great location! Did not have a fridge in the room. Asked if we could get a fridge in the room because we had food that needed refrigeration, and after all it's in their advertising description that they have fridges and microwaves in the rooms. The front office manager said he'll work on getting one. 1hr later, no fridge, no call to let us know. Then I called, they said they're working on it. 30min more, no fridge. Then I went to the office to speak with manager again. Said "We're trying to get one from a different hotel" WHAT?! A microwave from another hotel? Plus from a hotel not related to the Blue Seal Inn! 3hrs later no fridge. Finally I had to become firm because after asking more times then I wrote on this post they finally said they would have to switch my room. Switch my room? Wait, are you saying you have a vacant room with a fridge. 1st thing, all these rooms are suppose to have one. 2nd, upon check in they had already switched our room giving us a a different one then we reserved, 3rd, Why would we have to switch rooms, bring it to this room? So the only reason I gave this place 2 stars is because it's an amazing location close to the beach and downtown, and close to shopping and restaurants. However, horrible customer service and hotel worn down. Oh, did I say how inconvenient it was going through this, and very irritating being we have a 2 year old with us and wife is pregnant. Come for the location only but don't expect good customer service or quality.

  • Aug 14, 2018 by Jen H.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Stains on the walls, carpet and everywhere! Boogers with hair in them on the wall. No knob on the bathroom door. The list goes on. When I tried to nicely address it after paying nearly $400.00 in cash, I was told we were lucky to have a room for that amount in Pismo. We have stayed in many places in Pismo and never had an experience like this. Owner/Manager yelled at me. Please beware!! And I never leave negative reviews!

  • Aug 12, 2018 by Kristina Yu

Me and my family always stay here whenever we visit Pismo, and we visit pretty often throughout the year. Although it may not be the best, the prices are often reasonable and the manager Don and the staff are friendly and hospitable. (:

These guys don't even follow ADA standards !!! I had a friend who wanted to stay there but is in a wheelchair and didn't seem to bother to care about him and his wheelchair access. Place is a dump anyways and if they wouldn't take in a guy in a wheelchair it's probably not a place you would want to stay anyways. If they don't care about the ADA laws they probably don't adhere to any other laws or guidelines. Like cleanliness, pests... need I say more ? Not saying there are but if common courtesy to people with disabilities much less making changes to bring the building up to code well you can pretty much guess its best to hit one of the other places that are 1 star or better...

  • Aug 04, 2018 by Emily M.

If I could give it a zero I would! When the hotel policy is refuses to rent rooms to handicapped you deserve to lose business! That's flat out discrimination and I don't care any excuse or reasoning you think you have to refuse service to someone that's handicapped. There is no reason there is no excuse that's good enough.

  • Aug 03, 2018 by Audrey G.

Horrible business practices. Refused to refund 86 dollars for a room booked for 1 person 1 night in error (should have been 2 people 2 nights which they could not accomodate). Called within 5 minutes to correct the error and they refused to refund. Even though they could easily rebook the room for far more on this busy summer night. Be careful these people are unforgiving. They would rather make an unhappy customer by not refunding 86 dollars, than make far more money and make a happy future customer.

  • Aug 02, 2018 by Joey R.

Spending one night here , the place says heated Pool, but the water is cold in the pool. This motel is located about two blocks from the beach. There is a 7-11 near by and many other shops within walking distance.

I give this establishment a 0 because I made and prepaid for room but never was able to check in. I drove all day and the office was locked. They had a number to call and i proceeded to call for at least 2 hours to no prevail. I lucked out and found a hotel room down the street. Don't waste your time

  • Jul 29, 2018 by Tanya Davis

Great location for going up and down the central coast. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Not enough parking and no A/C( it was warm) we bought an oscillating fan and was better the 2nd night. I would also bring your own toilet paper. LOL

  • Jul 27, 2018 by kayeokaye@gmail.com Lilgurlsmama

This place is a joke! They have poor cleaning. It never smells clean and they say breakfast is free however they didn't have any! They as appear to be friendly, and for what u get for the price... Only stay there f there's no other place to go. They only get customers when everyone else is full. If u like to smell vinegar go for it that's what they clean with. So nothing is sanitized or disinfected. Be careful ...

If I could give this place negative stars I would. Dont bring kids here whatsoever listen to me if you are just a couple looking to stay somewhere this is 'alright'. We had a disturbance all night in the room above us stomping their lead feet all around, and to top it off these same people were smoking weed across the pool while our kids were playing. We went to the office and complained and nothing was done about it. The manager replied the next day with "well my employee probably got scared and didnt do anything about it" what kind of management is this?! Screw this place

  • Jul 18, 2018 by Justin N.

Do not stay at this place unless you want to bring bed bugs home and spend thousands for an extermination. We spent about an hour in the room and spotted a bedbug on the ceiling. We notified the manager and requested a refund. He was unapologetic and very unprofessional. No refund was given. Not only is this place infested with bedbugs, but they couldn't even wash the linens and towels. It's a surprise this place stays in business.

  • Jul 17, 2018 by Garrett P.

Horrible disgusting nasty. Dirty. Cockroaches.  You name it they got it. But price is ridiculous. Holes in walls, tweakers everywhere. Paint is missing. Walls thin could hear every movement of neighbors.   Do not stay here.

  • Jul 16, 2018 by Payton Weathers

You get what you pay for, I would recommend staying 1 or 2 nights with as little time in your room as possible. My A/C didn't work but we just popped our window open and the cool ocean air took care of that.

  • Jul 16, 2018 by david y.

Never have I ever had a worse experience, not just in the hospitality field,  but in my whole life. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, every experience was a negative one. My girlfriend and I spent the weekend in Pismo Beach and we were planning on leaving Sunday night but decided to stay one more night to enjoy more of this beautiful weekend. On a spontaneous whim, the only place available was the Blue Seal Inn. She booked the hotel on hotels.com and received a confirmation so we headed over there. When checking in, the lady working the front desk was more than rude. Stating that she did not see our confirmation on her end. Without explaining what she was going to do, she asked for the ID and credit card that we used to book. She ran the card immediately without a word and told us our room number and gave us the keys. Entering the room was another nightmare. There was a vacuum cleaner right in front of our door which seems to have been left there from the cleaners. The first thing you notice when inside was the smell, not a pleasant one. There were cracks along the walls and exposed electrical breakers. The floors of the restroom were not the cleanest. Since we were planning on leaving in the morning and it was for only one night, we decided to just tough it out. When we were sleeping, my girlfriend found an ant in the bed. We were out of there immediately. We went to check out. Our entire stay was no more than 6 hours, checking in at 8pm and out around 2am. Given that it was 2am, there was no one in the office, however the "Open" sign was lit and the note on the door said to ring the doorbell. I rung the doorbell up to 3-4 times waiting patiently between each ring, about 30 seconds to a minute. No answer. The note also gave their number to call, which i did. No answer. There was not even an option to leave a voicemail. Seeing as no one is going to show up, I left the keys through the window hole. While this is where I would like to end this ridiculous story, we had one more issue the next day. In the morning, we called them to make sure they got our key and verified that we are indeed checked out. We also noticed that there were two charges on our card. When asked about it, the lady very rudely yelled at us explaining how she was able to see our confirmation so she charged us on her own, despite having already paid through hotels.com, when asked about a refund she directly us to ask hotels.com since it was not her fault for the confirmation not showing up on her end. I didn't mind having to cancel through them but her attitude and customer service was definitely lacking. If she had only told us that she was going to charge us since there was no confirmation and explained what she was doing the night before it would have been okay. The customer service rep from hotels.com was more than understanding and helped us resolve the matter almost immediately. Overall, I would not recommend staying here for any reason. Look around for a better offer. Even if all surrounding places were fully booked and this is the only option left, I would have rather slept in my car.

Currently staying here for the weekend and regretting it. Room doesn't have AC. Smells like smoke. Has a big hole in the wall. Bathroom door doesn't lock. Its miserable here spend your money elsewhere

  • Jul 13, 2018 by wakeupnow...

OH MY GOD! I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay here...my night was awful I have stayed at multiple hotels in the area being new to this area and this was the worst I paid 80 bucks yesterday for one night at this pit of despair ....don't repeat my mistake ..let me tell you I stayed in room 21 I get in there an notice there was no fridge and no microwave ..but when I called BEFORE I booked the room I was told yes they have microwave an fridges in all rooms..so I went an bought microwavable things an drinks just to come an find none in my room. I go to front desk an tell the man working an he says give him 30 minutes he will bring me some.2 hours goes by an he brings me the fridge and microwave yet no where to plug other in where he put it so he leaves an says he will be back with a cord..he NEVER came back to even apologize for not being able to help or find a cord. I had to rearrange our room very weirdly so we can make use of it. there was no ice bucket in our room so when I had to get ice to put the food and drinks on I had to use a taquito box for ice an put it in the sink so that we can keep our food from going bad while I waited hours for this worker to come back. the housekeepers who did the room left no extra toilet paper an the roll that was there already was more than half way used. so in the morning we had to track someone down to get toilet paper. we didn't get sleep at all because up until 530 a.m our neighbors in room 20 were very loud and obnoxious. we heard them all night banging an the wall is so thin I could hear exactly what these people were talking about. literally every word. so then because we were so overly tired we slept in and even though we had the dnd do not disturb sign on the door the man who failed to return yesterday woke me up at 1030 telling me check out is at 11. I told him about me being miserable with my experience and all he did was offer me 30 more minutes to get my things out. I paid 80 dollars to get sleep...I got no sleep in this place...no customer service what so ever...this morning the man didn't even want to make eye contact with me. I thought more would come of a place right by the beach. no way...

  • Jul 10, 2018 by Real NorCali

We accidentally pulled into this place when we had reservations for another one down the street. You get what you paid for, No Frills type of place. No breakfast, parking is free!

  • Jul 10, 2018 by Trinity T.

First I would like to say that the owners/operators are very kind and I hope they can make this place a destination for every family headed to Pismo. Cheap hotel, walking distance from the beach with a pool, parking, tv, fridge, microwave, and muffins in the morning (& those muffins are good)! There's a little park right next to it and you can walk your pets there. My biggest regret is they have no AC. They have a temperature fixture that says they do but they don't. You'll discover when you ask why it's not working. Internet didn't work Day 2/3. Our toilet seat is off the hinges and they never fixed it, even with multiple, gentle reminders. Vanity light, bathroom light, and later the bathroom outlets weren't working. They fixed it on Day 2. The shower is newer but very slippery. The shower curtain is moldy. Bed is firm, which is ok with me. Pillows are flat, just double up.  The sheets are soft. The duvet is rumpled and therefore falls to the ground at night. The colors of the room are nice shades of mauve. Microwave and refrigerator included. Although the refrigerator was taped together a little  No phone, no clock, no tissues. If you're looking for cheap with no frills and can overlook some things, come here.

  • Jul 09, 2018 by Norma M

No air conditioning.. They gave us one fan that blew Absoutly no air.. I paid 400 for 2 nights and was miserable!! Breakfast includes coffee and a danish .. Dose not accommodate kids needs for breakfast . Wi-Fi sucked .. All around worst motel..

  • Jul 03, 2018 by yvonne maez

You get what you pay for. However my experience at this place was more than just ran down and dirty . .we went to the continental breakfast but there wasn't anyone at the front desk, it was locked. We went for a walk then breakfast somewhere else and when we came back to the room our key was expired at 9am thus locked out of my room. The front office was locked. They posted a cell number at the window and they would no answer they text we will be right there. We gave up went to beach the returned at 11am 1230 and 1pm same thing. I finally called the police and suddenly someone upstairs comes out. They act like they did us a favor of opening the door and not charging another day since check out was at 11. Basically not a good operating business. If you have children I'd recommend going somewhere else.

  • Jun 26, 2018 by Tony B.

Where do I begin ? This place is the closet place to hell on earth you can get. A compete dump. No continental breakfast, the coffee maker was broke, no AC. The pipes in the sink smell like a used casket. This place is not designed for humans to stay at. Dogs maybe, but not humans. Come here to commit suicide. That's it's ‍

  • Jun 24, 2018 by K. Gerchenzon

Dingy, bathroom caulking coming up from the tub. Owner walked in on me (while I was using the toilet!) 15 minutes before the official check out time...I hadn't dead locked the door because my husband had been staying with me. Will not return.

  • Jun 23, 2018 by Shellie Barhite

Good cheap hotel. I recommend you pay cash because you will get a lower price

  • Jun 20, 2018 by Alexandria J.

This is the most disgusting motel I have ever stayed in my life at. I didn't sleep the whole night because it smelled so bad inside and it was so dusty and dirty. Mine and my little boys asthma was flaring up because of this nasty place. There were stains on the sheets. Looks like its never been cleaned. No breakfast as advertised. I am pregnant and tried to slept in the car outside because I couldn't breath. There are no refunds or cancellations. That itself was a bad sign. There were only two wall plug outlets that didn't even work. Really no blankets. Dirty towels and trash on the floor. No fire alarms or phone. This place is a  nightmare. I don't even know how they are open

Wow If I Could Give This Place 0 Stars I Would, This Was The Only Hotel Room Available For Labor Day Weekend 2018, My Boyfriend Booked Online Through Hotels.com The Room Was Only $100 For The Night, Upon Checking In We Were Assigned To Room #19 Upon Entering It Smelt Like Cigarettes And A Room By The Hour, The Paint Was Missing Off The Walls, There Was Black Mold In The Bathroom It Was Just Disgusting I Uploaded Pictures  So Yall Can See For Yourself, We Walked In And Turned Around And Walked Right Back Out They Said We Had To Contact Hotels.com To Receive Our Money Back

  • May 01, 2018 by Nina van Geleuken

Stayed there for 1 night, in one room with 4 people. Only had 2 towels and 1 soap. Asked a couple of times for extras, but didn't get them (probably forgotten or just ignored). Location is fine, close to some nice places to eat. Went to Surfin' Donuts for breakfast just across the street, great donuts there!

Disgusting, outdated, do not stay at this place, went in, checked it out & left fast!! The pictures speak for themselves!! So gross!

  • Mar 16, 2018 by Marina Ansori

Good price! Friendly service. Microwave, mini fridge in room. No hair dryer. 5 minute walk to pier and restaurants.

  • Feb 19, 2018 by Erin Evans

Owner totally overcharged me for a room knowing there were no other vacancies in town. Curtains were broken and wouldn't close, beds broken. Everything in the room was old, broken, dirty or moldy. As a bonus we also saw a cockroach in the bathroom. Terrible experience

  • Feb 18, 2018 by Colter Hobbs

Definitely worth every penny. Our room had no door knob to the bathroom, no bathroom light, the toilet seat was broken in such a way that if you moved just right it would pinch your butt, and don't even think of using the hair dryer. But they had the most comfortable beds ever. In all seriousness I am definitely staying here again. It was an adventure like I haven't had since backpacking Thailand

  • Feb 17, 2018 by Mai Y.

This place deserves 0 star. The rooms have BEDBUGS. Slept the night and woke up with BEDBUG bites and saw them walking all over the bed. I am horrified and disgusted. We talked to the people in the office and they were fully aware of the bedbug infestation, yet they still booked us in the room. DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE!!! They don't care about you. They just want your money. I don't mind the outdated, run-down look, for the price but BEDBUGS are unacceptable.

piece of shit place shut down power at 2:00am  while my buddie that also book a room there say that their power wasn't cut off, first motel i've encountered this went to go ask them and they replied power won't come back up untill 8am wat a joke will never book here again.

  • Jan 16, 2018 by Augusta J.

This is not the fanciest place. Not going to say it is. However...we took a chance and booked a weekend here, and had a great time! The location of this vintage motel is awesome, and a very short walk to downtown Pismo and the pier. There is plenty of parking in the lot, and a very friendly staff. The pool looked inviting, but was closed for the winter - no problem. We stayed in the "family room", which was wonderful - a huge suite with two bathrooms, three beds and a kitchen : worked out perfectly for our family : spacious enough that we didn't walk on top of each other, but cozy enough for us to hang out and play games. We were quite pleased! Back to my opening statement: the beds are comfy and the bathrooms are clean, as are the sheets and towels. But there are nicks here and there, and a little peeling paint here and there, and it's seen some wear and tear. If you are looking for some fancy HGTV experience, definitely go elsewhere. However, if you are looking for a solid, comfortable night's sleep with a very good location, the Blue Seal will work out great for you! We'll be back!

  • Dec 28, 2017 by Sylvie B

L’hôtel est un typique motel américain . Les chambres sont simples mais propres. Des bains très agréables sont proposés mais sans bonde de fond... la literie est très confortable. Je recommande le rapport qualité prix

  • Nov 26, 2017 by Kay R

Nice solid place close to beach and downtown Pismo Beach. Walking distance to bars, restaurants, beach and downtown. Clean with descent beds, cable tv and a pool Complementary breakfast with coffee in the lobby. Friendly staff. Enjoyed my stay in the area and would stay again.

  • Nov 19, 2017 by Bill Poon

100.00 for a room a block from the beach is great but the little things can be annoying ie: TV has to be reset everyday for it to work and the restroom door scrapped the floor

  • Oct 29, 2017 by Samuel Serna

This is a Good place to stay ,friend d my service and close by the Pier and shops .

  • Oct 29, 2017 by Leia T.

No need to write much or post the pictures I took. The pictures I would post are already here from gusts months back. The management obviously don't care or they would have corrected the problems. Three things were if serious concern:1. No toilet paper older so the paper roll is contaminated. 2. Fire alarm was removed(someone else posted a picture of it THREE months ago. 3. No heat on a cold day and night.

After trying to book at a few other places on what turned out to be the Clam Festival weekend we took a good deal for this place. Normally we bring our 5th wheel but this was a quick trip. Sight unseen we traveled 4 hrs and arrived at about 10pm. The guy behind the counter was really friendly and check in was a breeze. We were a bit apprehensive after reading the reviews on here on our way up so we brought our own pillows and blankets , just in case. Yes, the paint was chipping and definitely needed to be done. Yes, it's old and does desperately need a makeover. But the bed was comfortable , the room was clean and the property was safe. All the people we interacted with were friendly and the room was very reasonable compared to others in the area. We would definitely book with this property again should we need to.

  • Oct 15, 2017 by Chelsea Zerwekh

This place was disgusting. We came in late and the lights didn’t work and that should have been the first red flag. There were hairs and makeup on the pillows, floors weren’t vacuumed, no fitted sheets on the beds, old spring mattresses with the middles sunken in, old heavy pillows, the air conditioning didn’t work, the curtains wouldn’t close all the way, we could hear clear as day the people in the room next to us... DO NOT stay here. Manager refused a refund and being it the only vacancy in between all of Morro Bay, SLO and Pismo, we didn’t have a choice but to stay here. Not to mention it was $150 per night.

  • Oct 14, 2017 by Leslie Todd

We stayed 4 days , it wasnt fancy but it was sufficiant , it had a King Size bed , a T.V. that was modern , a shower , good parking ,and a nice staff . 4 Days $268.00... and that was the beautiful thing about it . This was my 2nd stay so i knew what i was getting . Also every where else we checked into was way over board on the price to the tune of ...... $ 145.00 per night ... TRY IT .

  • Oct 06, 2017 by Megan Fotheringham

We got a 2 bedroom room for 2 adults and 2 children. Ill start with the positive. It has a microwave, fridge, parking close to your room, and you can walk to the beach.

    Negatives:
    -Wi-Fi doesnt really work
-room REAKED of smoke and i have 2 children plus im pregnant
    -bedding reaked of smoke
-the "heated pool" that's open until 10 pm was pad locked so no access
-there is absolutely no air vents for AC or even a fan built in so either bring your own fan or good luck with just opening the Windows
-half the outlets dont even work
-the window in the bathroom has no screen
-bathtub had some type of nats crawling everywhere when I attempted to bathe my child
    -no coffee maker
-paint is coming off the walls and baseboards
    -smoke Detector obviously doesn't work
-fridge isn't properly cleaned (black stuff in it)

Don't waste the money coming here. You get nothing they advertise (pool, breakfast etc). Its the crappiest hotel I have ever booked and I will never return. I shouldve just slept in the car with the kids. At least we wouldn't have reaked of cigarette smoke (although there's a no smoking sign on the door...).

Average cheap motel but everything was nice here and front desk was friendly.

  • Sep 15, 2017 by Nikki G.

I would not recommend this motel unless you are trying to get help c. It smells, the walls are dirty, there's cockroaches, and very dirty.

I was looking for a place to rest after hanging out at Harry's Beach Bar a few blocks away..  Labor Day weekend most things were booked up or expensive $300 - $400.  I was looking for a cheap place to stay the night.  Found the Blue Seal Inn on Trivago / booking.com for $85 + 10 for taxes...  Checking in was easy and on friendly guy got me checked in quick to room 27 at the end next to the road. The room has ok.  Some paint pealing, little wear and tear, but kinda to be expected.  Surprised it had a fridge! Bed was comfortable and clean.  Main issue was that it was a hot 100+ degree weekend and there was no A/C.  My oversight.  And I didn't sleep very well even with the window open.  Got up early and headed home.  Ended up being an ok place.  I'd stay there for an real inexpensive option.  But, then again my first choice for a cheap place would probably be a motel 6.  Glad I tried something different.  Friendly staff during checkout too.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the novelty of a cheap motel/hotel stay. It is very possible to stay at a cheap motel and have it be a clean, safe experience. Unfortunately the Blue Seal Inn is a dumpster. Staying there is like setting your cash on fire, whilst rolling in a pile of mold. 1. The owner verbally accosted us for walking on the grass with our dog, he didn't recognize that we were customers. 2. the owner verbally abused his employees in the parking lot, mid morning, waking us up. 3. There was a couple next door to us having a domestic dispute....for about 10 hours straight. Yowzas. 4. The AC was broken 5. there was poop....yea poop on the toilet when we arrived. 6. the window in the bathroom was....well missing, so I guess you could say there was a hole in the wall. SUPER safe. 7. it smelt like mold and urine. 8. the wifi didnt work 9. Need i say more? We would have left once we arrived, but after a long drive, we were exhausted and just needed a rest. I highly suggest to all to just suck it up and pay an extra $25 for a higher quality place, or a chain. This place was not only physically awful but also socially....its just not a safe place to stay, and the owner is a crude, unhappy, untrustworthy middle aged man who yells, and probably masturbates in between customer visits. As I stare out my office window, I fearfully ponder what a blacklight would reveal in one of those fore-saken rooms. stay safe out there fellow travelers!

  • Aug 20, 2017 by Jodi F.

I would not recommend. The ONLY good  thing to say is....the water pressure was good, however, The tub didn't drain well. We paid $280 for 1 night. (you get what u pay for) It IS a short 2 block walk to the beach. We stayed here as a last resort. All decent options were booked. Next time we will plan ahead. It would be worthwhile to pay $100 more per night to stay somewhere nice. (Seacrest Inn)

  • Aug 19, 2017 by Alex Ferguson

We had an awful first experience. We were thrilled about the price, but extremely disappointed. Number one: pool is said to be heated, but it definitely wasn't. The ac/heater did not work; causing us to be freezing during the night and hot during the day. The room was filthy when we entered. We called the office for extra towels and he forgot to bring them completely. It was definitely not a good experience.

  • Aug 14, 2017 by Todd F.

The clerk was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are outdated but clean. There is only one room that has a refer and microwave. There was dry rot in the bathroom and the toilet paper holder was not present. Had to ask for toilet paper. It was ok for a nights sleep and a shower

  • Jul 25, 2017 by Dave B.

Patrons beware. Just have a look at the other reviews as it's redundant to detail how run down and nasty this place is. Needed a place to crash for the night on a turn around trip to the area to pick up a trailer that was being repaired and made the mistake of booking this shanty online. Visit Oceano/Pismo frequently always staying in my RV and had seen this place before when downtown and doesn't look that bad from the outside. Didn't bother reading reviews to my detriment. My main complaint and what I want to make people aware of is that they photo copy your credit card and license "for their file" and keep indefinitely. I got into a fairly major argument over this practice with the front desk woman that "only worked there" and "was following their longtime protocol" as I wanted that copy destroyed or returned to me. Insisting on talking to the owner or manager, I met with this jamoke of a manager in the morning and he returned the copy. I would guess they just made another copy and kept one for their files as this person had a low level of trust IMO based on his smug demeanor and attitude. I'll be monitoring my credit card closely! With tax the room was $178! What a joke. These Indians have no idea how to run a business and the accommodations inside look like what you'd imagine the projects would look like if being run by a slum lord. We stayed in the room just to sleep only after tearing apart the bed to check for bed bugs and slept in our clothes on top of the beds. Worst place ever had the displeasure of staying at!

The owner Don and his staff are very friendly and hospitable....great place

  • Jul 17, 2017 by Josie06

Rather a creepy place, dirty and is in need of major improvements. It's fairly close to Pismo Beach but my daughter and I did not feel safe walking down there, Parking was okay. But inside, the bathroom! Not not that comfy of a bed and well just say, major improvements are needed.

  • Jul 11, 2017 by Jennifer Romo

Staff was very friendly hotel very nice but didn't had A/C. But the pool was so warm and nice super clean will stay here again

  • Jun 28, 2017 by Marius Gulbrandsen

They scanned my credit card and ID and printed it which I objected to, but they insisted. There was no aircondition and we got a fan which didnt help much. The room was big and the bathroom ok.

  • Jun 24, 2017 by nikki price

  • Jun 17, 2017 by Trinity Rodriguez

Horrible experience, never again. Told the manager to get me new blankets 3 times each time he came back with piss stained blankets. Had to sleep with a towel over myself! Disgusting place

  • May 01, 2017 by Jason Scheer

Nice place. Good location. Walking distance to the beach and shops.

  • Apr 12, 2017 by Stephanie B.

This is one of the worst places I have ever attempted to stay. After entering the room we knew we could not stay there. The place was absolutely disgusting and should not be in business. Mold in the bathrooms, disgusting floors and sheets. Absolutely not worth the cost. The guy and the front desk is rude, condescending and laughed at me when I kindly asked for my money back when I told him we couldn't stay there. After 30 minutes of back and forth he kept $100 of my room fee  (total amount for 1 night was $184) and told me the room would not be sold because his cleaning staff was gone and we had entered the room and it would go to waste. We drove by later and saw a couple walking into the same room. So rude!

  • Apr 08, 2017 by Heather Dwyer

It has easy freeway access and the rooms are nice inside. There is no in-room coffee that breakfast the next morning could hardly be called that. The guy behind the counter was very nice though.

  • Mar 16, 2017 by Iris Hernandez

Yeah, maybe the customer service could be improved. My husband even tried breaking the ice with the woman at the front desk but she didn't seem to even crack a smile. And I guess they run another business so don't expect them to be here until after 3 pm. But the housekeeper was nice enough to allow us to store out luggage in a room until check in time so we could go grab lunch. :) and regarding the room, we like our room. Very clean. It wasn't dirty how people described. Just a tad outdated but that shouldn't affect someone's stay. There is a park next door and across the street. A convenient store on the corner. And if u walk directly across from the hotel through the little neighborhood for about 5 minutes, you will be at the beach ina more private area :) very beautiful in my opinion. And the peir is maybe a 10 minute walk or less to the right. :)

  • Mar 10, 2017 by Morgan C.

Wish I could give 0 stars.... checked in last minute, went to our room and I instantly knew I wouldn't be staying there. The carpet was ripped up, phone didn't work, tv didn't work, door knob busted off the bathroom door and worst of all.... the bathroom window was completely ripped off (we were on the ground floor also). A full grown man could squeeze through that window and after I saw that I was out of there. She gave me another room and that one was ok. Still kind of dirty. I just felt gross and itchy being in there. Won't be coming back! If you have an extra $40 to spare then go down the street to the motel 6.

  • Feb 27, 2017 by 478bmxracer

The experience was horrible the rooms were very small and when I moved the fridge to try to make some room there was a beer bottle behinds the fridge. The bed was so uncomfortable our backs hurt so bad it was hard to get up in the morning, also the bathroom had no towel hanging racks. So much more I can say, but I will stop there.

  • Feb 12, 2017 by sheryl moore

The location is great, but that's it. The room wreaked of Curry and vomit. The bed had stains on the sheets. We bought decent pillows at Walmart and lost a whole night there in fees because we just couldn't sleep in that room. It was horrid...

  • Feb 08, 2017 by Demon33

Old run down motel with sad and unfriendly staff. We stayed only one night in the wintertime - in the room there wasn't any heating - only after asking the hotel staff they gave us small portable heater. Overall very old and dirty, uncomfortably bed felt like 10 old mattress toppers one over another, dirty bed linen, no hairdryer. This place is advertised with continental breakfast - all we got were 2 types of cornflakes and some pre packed muffins. There isn't even a space to sit for breakfast because the breakfast room is the reception at the same time. Don't bother to stay here!

  • Feb 01, 2017 by Betty Burnett

I made reservations on-line because I would be arriving late. When I arrived at 9pm, a note on the door said call. I did, telling man I made reservations on-line. He told me he had an emergency and would not be back for at least an hour! He said he would refund my money.
Next morning I went back. Lady at desk again they went out to dinner last night. I asked her if this was what they called an emergency. She got very defensive.

  • Dec 29, 2016 by Dawn D.

Be forewarned! There is no heat! Everything else was fine, but we froze in 40 degree weather. The next morning, when my husband went down for coffee and asked, he was handed a space heater.   .    .   Why did they not give us this on check in?

  • Dec 29, 2016 by JM G.

This place is truly disgusting! One of the worst motel I have experienced! The room was filthy (see attached pictures as just a few examples). Stained pillows and sheets, random stains on the ceiling, mold in the bathroom, filthy windows, uncomfortable beds, beds creek when you move, no heater/fan, dirty and stained tub, chipped paint all over walls, missing fixtures, no phone. Customer service at check-in was average. Truly a health hazard - Stay Away!

  • Dec 21, 2016 by cieldiver

My mother reserved this room for my son and his girlfriend during a family get-together. Horrible room, and we asked about limiting their stay to one night -- "No Refunds!" So they planned to stay. When they went back to the room the second night, they learned that the owner had given away their room. Wasn't sure if they would be returning. Really? So, of course, one would expect a refund for the night they gave away. One would be wrong. "No Refunds!" NEVER STAY HERE

  • Dec 17, 2016 by April Fowler

Nice hotel inexpensive prices very close to the beach I suggest calling to get better deals on family suites

  • Dec 13, 2016 by Chris K

We stayed here over the Thanksgiving holiday, though, after seeing the room, we tried to avoid it as much as possible. The negative reviews about this place are generally pretty accurate. The rooms are just dirty. Several of the surfaces in the room were inexplicably sticky. The bathroom was so filthy as to be unusuable; the toilet wasn't even hooked up to the water at first. The carpet was pretty disgusting, we didn't take our shoes off much. The bedding had some really suspicious stains and the comforter was torn up and looked like it has needed replacing for a while. Oh, and our remote didn't work (which didn't make that big of a difference since the TV wasn't working either). There was a hilariously creepy hole in the wall, which wouldn't have been so bad if we hadn't had the hotel owners on one side of our room and a guy with a teardrop face tattoo on the other side. We had reserved the room for two nights, but returned in the afternoon on the second day to find that our keys weren't working. When we went to the front desk, the guy told us he wasn't sure if we were coming back or not and that he had rented out the room. Didn't quite know how to respond to that one. He offered to give us a new room, but we were pretty over this place by this point and decided to get out while we still could. No refund on that second night, of course. Overall, I'm not quite sure what's happening at this hotel, but it is so unnecessarily bad that I'm at a loss. All they really need to do is clean the rooms, buy new bedding and respect people's reservations, but it seems like this has been going on for years here. The hotel is in kind of a sketchy neighborhood, although it is fairly close to the pier and several other attractions. Since there's a dozen other hotels within walking distance of the Blue Seal Inn, I'd recommend avoiding this place if at all possible. You'll pay more, but you also won't wake up worried about transmittable diseases. Also, that cinnamon roll place down the street is legendary, so definitely check that out.

  • Nov 14, 2016 by Diana Benitez

Never coming back to this hotel the people in charge were so rude..I went to get toilet paper because the bathroom didn't have any and the lady didn't want to give me a roll telling me there was one in the bathroom already even tho I payed 325 for two nights when we went to the pool the man in front desk told us the pool was "closed " I mean why even say there's a pool in the hotel if it's not even open worst hotel i have been to

  • Nov 06, 2016 by justin driscoll

This place is a dump, first room i had had hair gross stuff all over the floor. As well as long gross hairs all over the bed and stains on the sheets. My second room had BLOOD ALL OVER THE SHEETS. WHAT THE HELL. And it smelled positively disgusting. Place is terrible enough to look at and be in let alone sleep. Should be condemned. Instead of staying here i drove all the way back home to the bay area in one night. Also your staff rude. Thanks Blue turd inn

  • Oct 20, 2016 by Toni E

Cheap....walking distance to pier...shops....cinnamon rolls...manager was very nice...brought us a fan for our room...very clean....beds very comfortable...sister stayed in handicap room and was perfect...lots of room for walker and wheelchair...

  • Oct 16, 2016 by K H.

Can I give less than a star??? Where to begin??? Yes, we were trying to save a few bucks but definitely not trying to gain a fungus or std. The room was dirty to say the least; towels stained, carpet torn, broken refrigerator, not even a cover on the bathroom fan. We were rocked to sleep by the sound of the prostitutes screams and moans next door and their bed hitting the wall ALL night.....  I've showered twice and still feel dirty.....

  • Oct 13, 2016 by Tony G

Stopped off in Pismo beach for a nights stay as we drove upto SF from LA. We randomly picked this motel but it wasn't the best move we made. It was pricey for what you got, which was very little. The sign outside reception promised a tv in every room - yes, but no remote! It was just as well we were out and about as we couldnt use the tv without the remote. The room was dirty, and tge whole place was just run down. Wouldn't recommend.

  • Sep 19, 2016 by Jemma S

Dirty smelly rooms, stains on the carpet and bedding. The owner had fumigated the place for cockroaches which added an additional fragrant smell to the overall stench of the place. We cut our losses and took a partial refund and stayed elsewhere for the night. Very grim!

  • Sep 18, 2016 by jill m

The price and location were right but the room left a lot to be desired...recommend they invest in new bedspreads, and flooring. Next time I would spend more $ and get a nicer place, but considering it was sufficient.

  • Sep 03, 2016 by Michael J.

I would give zero points if i clould. It's one of the most disgusting motel which i have ever seen!!! Definitly no 1$ worth, don't go there.

  • Aug 31, 2016 by Lexi Q.

The owners are so friendly and welcoming . The rooms are clean and smell good. Their is parking in front of the rooms. The beds are huge and super comfortable with plenty of fluffy pillows. Cable tv and breakfast in the morning a plus and FREE WIFI is a win for sure. The have a Swimming Pool and the motel is super close to the Pismo Beach. Shopping and food are seconds away and the scenery is amazing. Great Motel and Great price. Worth the money. Will definitely continue to use BLUE SEAL INN for work&leisure.

  • Aug 27, 2016 by Mrsboggs

If your looking for hotel that's close to the action and you don't mind the musty smell. This place is the place. We got a queen and it was a very small room but hay if your here at the beach staying in the hotel isn't what you'll be doing. Pool was very clean office staff was very friendly.

  • Aug 21, 2016 by karen19722014

The owner was unavailable when we got there, but the person who was looking after it for them was incredibly helpful. We were given two rooms on the third floor, which takes you past the reception, as soon as the gentleman saw my father ( an older gentleman with some problems walking, especially up stairs ) he changed our rooms to the ground floor. The rooms were clean and perfectly serviceable

  • Aug 14, 2016 by thatoneguytony

The bed smelled like pee. Toilet seat was not screwed down, no air conditioner. Stains on all pillows, towels. The faucet in the tub was hanging off. The fridge was dripping some fluids. DIRTY STINKING ROOM!

  • Aug 11, 2016 by Sarah L.

I wish I could give this place no stars. It was so gross and dirty. I like to think of myself as practical and for the cost, I knew we wernt staying in a 4 star hotel. But.... when your room smells like dirty diaper (we think it was mold), the fridge had old beer bottles in it, on top of that it didn't even work, the outside has old trash that hasn't been picked up (it looked like an old banana peel and an empty liquor bottle), and there's no accessible electrical plugs where do you draw the line?? Not only that, but it took us over 30 min to check in. There was no one at the front desk. There was another person behind me and we both called out hello and stood around for forever. I've stayed at hotels equivalent of the cost of Blue Seal so I know what to expect and this place was a joke. NEVER AGAIN.

  • Jul 31, 2016 by Crystal C

When we arrived we didn't have a reservation and the man in the office was very friendly and helped us check into a room quickly, he told me if I paid cash it would be 20$ cheaper than paying with a debit or credit card and I appreciated the tip, he also mentioned that our toilet seat in the bathroom was broke and he'd be in there to fix it and he did. The rooms are very rustic, paint chipping off the walls, rust around the bathroom corners and the ceiling looked like something was splattered on it. There's no AC but I can understand why, it's so close to the ocean that having the windows open was AC enough. The room may have not been great but the staff are great.

  • Jul 24, 2016 by Shenee Collins

It worth the money at all. I will never stay here again. The man tried to charge my card before I got there even though I was told the payment would only be taken from me once there. He tried to give away my room when I was 30 minutes away. I left something in the room and he doesn't want to answer if someone has found it. He doesn't want to ask his cleaning crew of they found anything. Not to mention I didn't get the breakfast that was advertised as being provided. Pismo is a good place to visit for the day unless you know someone you can stay with.

  • Jul 04, 2016 by Larry H.

After reading some of the reviews below, I felt I had to leave one of my own.  I think Don and his family run a nice, clean, efficient motel.  I've stayed here twice in mid-week these past 2 years, and was here last week, 6/22, and 6/23.  The rooms and the property are clean and it's pretty quiet at night around here, at least when I was here.  Not fancy, but if you just need a place to sleep and shower, I don't think you'll find more reasonable accommodations in Pismo or Shell Beach.  Only about 2 blocks to the beach and............ they have a pool!  Regarding the comment about the 2 night minimum; I was here last year in July and came in and booked two nights.  During the first night something came up that required me to return to L.A. the next day.  I told Don in the morning, and he reversed the charge to my Discover Card, 100%, without blinking an eye, which I thought was quite nice of him.  If you look at my other reviews, you'll notice that I'm quite critical if I think criticism is called for.  BTW, the photo showing a scratch on the baseboard looks exactly like what I saw in my room last week.  My thought was......... so what?  Everything was clean, the shower was hot, the toilet flushed, and I didn't have to put a chair under the door knob at night to feel secure............so who cares? I mean, I'm not staying at the Marriott, right?

  • Jun 20, 2016 by Janet B.

This place needs lots of work. It needs to be remodeled, linens need to be replaced, no A/C, and very noisy.

  • Jun 01, 2016 by travelercali2016

This place is an average spot for a weekend. Breakfast is small array of choices. Best part is the front office person for her great attitude. Electronic door lock is nice. We did not try the pool. A good place to stay in city of Pismo Beach.

  • May 27, 2016 by Guillaume O

Really bad service (Guy at the office can't make the keys we had them 2 hours later he had to open the room with the multipass.. he understands nothing at all, looks completely lost), make pay in advance for a breakfast that barely even exist (only cheap discusting bakeries probably bought a week before at the cheapest mall around) and the room is not so great and not sound proof. Only good point : the pool.

  • May 27, 2016 by Maggie B.

We made our reservation online and the man at the reception desk stated that it was invalid and attempted to charge us again. I see that a similiar issue has happened previously with another guest in another review. About 15 minutes later, we were finally heading to our room. The smoke alarm is completely broken (I doubt there will be a fire but come on man...) and the lights (both overhead and bedside lamps) did not work- in fact, the only thing that worked was the TV. As mentioned in other reviews, I will restate to confirm that the towels provided are disgusting, stained, and dirty. The shower is so dirty I will not be using it as the wall has mold and the matt in the bottom of the shower is dirty and ripped. The place is not modern at all, I feel as if I have traveled back thirty years upon entering. Update: I just noticed we don't have a shower curtain, just a ton of broken curtain rings. The bedside lamps do not have lightbulbs in them period. The bathroom floor has hair that belongs to neither of us and there is dirt and sunflower seeds on it. The outlets don't work.

  • May 24, 2016 by Scott M.

After booking my room 6+ months in advance, I called 3 weeks before my stay to confirm the room will be ready. I was given the run around by the receptionist that could barley understand me. She then tells me to call back the next day to speak to someone that could help me.  When I do call back the receptionist asks how I booked, I clearly tell him the hotels website. He then explains to me the website hasnt worked for a few months. I then advise Him the website worked perfectly in November when I booked. He then wants to see my conformation, I forward the information. He takes 5 minutes to process this, then tells me there is a 2 night minimum to stay, additional $180, I tell him this is unacceptable and I will be launching a BBB complaint. I will not being staying anywhere near this worthless hotel. WHAT A JERK! THANKS FOR A RUINED WEEKEND!

  • May 04, 2016 by Stephanie U.

This was the WORST experience ever! First off, the room was booked with a fridge, microwave and all the ammenitites included. When we got to the motel a note was on the door stating to call upon arrival. I waited 35 minutes for the man to get to the motel to check us in. We then went into our room and it was discusting. There was no fridge or microwave, as i have kids and these two things are important, plus it was included with room i had booked. The heater would not turn on as well and rain was forcasted for the night. The man at the front desk then changed us to another room. This room was worse. There was an intense mold smell that came out of it and made my 7 year old gag upon walking in. The heater in that room didnt work either so he brought us a small heater to plug in, next to the sink.. because it was the only plug in the room accessable. We then sat our bag on the bed and discoverd a cockroach! No, just no! So, i went and showed the front desk man and he proceeded to yell at me, pointing his finger in my face and blaming my teacup chihuhua for the cockroach in the bed....the dog couldnt jump up on the bed as her legs are to short and the bed was too high. He then argued with me instead of canceling our room. After 15 minutes of arguing back and forth he refunded us half of the room, stating the reason was because we had a dog. Mind you, the dog was in the room for about 15 seconds and tried running out upon entering. She probably didnt like the smell either. The front desk man then lied to the booking agency i had booked the room thru stating he was the owner and was not. DO NOT STAY THERE! ITS OVERPRICED, DISCUSTING AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRID.

  • May 03, 2016 by Paul M.

This was the worst experience we ever had in staying overnight in Pismo Beach. We paid a total of $235.20 for a one-night stay. What did we get for this handsome sum? There was no hair dryer, no in-room coffee maker, no kleenex, no hangers in the closet, no screens on the windows, no clock, no wash cloths. What we did get was a saggy unkempt bed, rusty shelves in the refrigerator, a short blanket (did not cover shoulders), institutional green walls, baseboards in the bathroom falling apart. Overall, from the outside the place looks like a painted-over run-down 50's motel. I really wish that I had come here to Yelp to read the reviews. People! This is no place for anyone to stay - not even to board your dogs! Unfortunately, we booked the place from booking.com and did not check it out beforehand.Lesson learned!

  • May 01, 2016 by Jenny A.

Was very apprehensive to check this place out because of all the low star reviews. Had to anyways and actually had a pleasant experience. Desk was friendly, breakfast was enjoyable, and being within minutes of the beach was a great plus. Our room sufficed for what we needed and no cleanliness or pest issues. For a one stop on a road trip, would recommend.

  • Apr 05, 2016 by Chelsea S.

There was a number of things that I did not like about this place. 1. No air conditioner (yeah it's cool outside, but it does get warm here sometimes and makes room humid and hot). 2. Floor was so dirty my feet were black after walking on it. 3. The key they gave us didn't work. 4. no screen on Windows so when you open the window to let air in bugs fly in. These are just things I noticed so far, and I haven't actually stayed the night yet. I wouldn't recommend this place. It certainly was NOT worth almost 90$ for one night.

  • Feb 28, 2016 by Ann E.

So 23 yrs ago my hubby and i stayed here so we thought how cool to go back again 23 years later, well it was no picnic! We checked in on Feb.26th,2016 we asked if our room we stayed in 23 years earlier was available they said no so we stayed in room 27 right next to the street, noise level was ok. We tried calling front desk from our room and the phone was not working, the reason for me calling them was because i needed a light bulb in my lamp (light bulb missing)so i could see better, front desk guy said he would be there in 15 min. never saw him again till we were ready to check out. So here is the break down no working phone(the entire stay), no light bulb(the entire stay), in morning went to take a hot shower and had no hot water barely luke warm, tub mat was filthy, chewed up and pulling up, mold growing in shower and on base boards, toilet leaked pee water from the base. Hubby went to talk to front desk guy and address the issues we had and he immediately went and said i refuse to give you any money off your stay and at this point my hubby didn't ask for money back yet. the front desk guy came to the room started telling us he cant fix the shower because it would require a plumber we knew better has my hubby and i have been working for motels and hotels for over 20 years. when my hubby told him no give me a wrench i can fix it in 10 min. the guy said oh well it will take me 10 min. ill fix it, then when asked for a 30 dollar discount by me he said no 15 is all i can do, then i pointed out the dirtiness the trip hazard and no phone etc. he then stated all i can do is give you 20 dollars, he stormed off after i told him im writing a review and i took pictures so i went to the front and tried talking to him again and instantly i can give you 25 dollars off, i told him no i want 30 off my bill and he started getting nasty with my and hubby so i told him never mind im writing a review with pictures and calling the health department on him he started raising his voice at me and he said go ahead i know how to talk to them so i wont get in any trouble! wow i dont recommend anyone stay here especially not for 111 dollars with taxes not worth it at all.

Awful! The room smelled like cat urine, no fridge, no microwave. Bath mat was torn, no switch plate cover in the bathroom and no toilet paper!!! I would advise spending a few more bucks and sleep elsewhere.

  • Dec 25, 2015 by Rahul J.

The guy at the reception is fine but unfortunately the rooms aren't. Update: they changed my room to newer one which is pleasantly very clean and nice. Owner proved to be immensely helpful person and did everything to make our stay good. Also, beach is just couple of blocks away making it a next to perfect location for visitors in this lovely beach town.

  • Nov 27, 2015 by Michael B.

A true delight!  Visiting from Vegas, checked in.. the man at the counter stated after looking at our id "oh! you're from Colorado Nevada". He was amazing! The room was great. Stained Carpets, Missing a TV, and smelled like mold and bad decisions. The mis matched lime green walls and red sea shell drapes were super cute! Will definitely come back when we are looking to stay like royalty while in Pismo! (ask for turn down service)

We stayed at the Blue Seal Inn in August 2015. Or, rather, we checked in and left. For $300, we were given the "family suite," which consisted of three double beds. Initially, we were willing to pay because of the location. BUT, after we checked in, we were beyond disappointed. The bathroom was not clean. Moldy shower current, broken fixtures, and NASTY smell. There were missing pieces of carpet, poorly patched holes in the wall and COCKROACHES. When I went to the front desk to complain, I was told he would give us 10% off if we stayed or we could leave immediately for a full refund. We chose to leave immediately and ended up driving all night long to reach our Southern California destination. We called the health department the next day. DO NOT STAY HERE. It is beyond disgusting.

RUN! Forrest RUN!  I had THE most bizarre experience EVER with this motel manager.  Trust me.. go elsewhere.

  • Oct 18, 2015 by Ingrid_Po...

  • Sep 29, 2015 by Julie H.

Wanted to update this and let the world know that we did call the health department... They said they would investigate.

  • Sep 28, 2015 by Brandon P.

Absolutely terrible. I actually made my yelp account specifically to warn people about this hotel. Luckily im not one for confrontation, but at this time i wish i was. 10% discount still came out to $200 a night but for all the crap wrong with it I should've just left and gotten a refund. I wish I would've taken pictures. It was horrendous. The towel rack fell down after trying to rest a towel on it, the toilet had all kinds of cracks, the baseboards in the bathroom had holes and black deposit, the shower curtains had black stains. I didn't want to believe it was black mold....but I'm not going to count it out. I've been into ghetto houses that looked better than this room. I should've spent an extra $50 and stayed at one of the higher end hotels. I will give it one star because the gentleman at the front counter was very nice and tried his best to help us out. I can't blame him for the hotels lack of towels. We had to wait 15 minutes for 2 extra towels but he did deliver it to our room. I seriously have no idea how this hotel is still standing, much less still in business. The rest of the rooms must be better than room 26. Never again.....

  • Sep 22, 2015 by clintmueller

Overpriced and the rooms were not very clean. The rooms look old and I can imagine that this hotel hasn't been refurbished for a long while. Stayed for one night and we were happy to leave again the next day. Wouldn't recommend it!!!

  • Sep 02, 2015 by Greg C

This place was not too bad. Clean enough and pretty close to the beach, bars and places to eat, walking distance. No air conditioning but they did supply a fan. The pool has no shaded area. We tried to stay here in September but the price was about double of the rate offered a month later so check out what time of year you want to stay.

I have to give blue seal inn 1 star 2 write this review Nasty Disgusting & needs to be shut down for health reason...Roach Infested

  • Aug 26, 2015 by Alice Q.

We always stay at a hotel on the beach .. we went out to Pismo on a 8 •22• 2015 and ended up making our hotel arrangements through hotel.com Upon our arrival the man at the counter was rude and told us he gave us a room with two beds but to only use one so after we grabbed everything from the car and went to our room ( room 11 ) we had a hard time finding the light so we can see our way in good thing for that because there was a family of roaches on the floor tons of baby roaches like they just hatched after getting a refund and getting ready to drive off we see the manager stepping on the roaches as he walked in .... This place is not suitable for anyone to stay in nor do I recommend it .... 2 bad I can't review with no star ....

  • Aug 23, 2015 by Stephanie W.

This was the worst hotel stay away!!!! Had mold in the shower, on the shower curtain, no heating system! No phone!! On top of that as soon as I got into the room found another person's bra! Wtf worst experience ever

  • Aug 17, 2015 by Chelsea C

The lady charged us 196.00 for the family suit which we didn't think was bad plus we were hungry and were in a hurry. We left and went to eat and run around. Got back and dropped my grandmother off and she calls me saying she can't even breathe in the place! It had a horrible smell. So she spoke to the lady there and she said there was nothing she could do. Once my husband and I got back not even 5 mins later I went and spoke to the lady. She was offering us another room but it was just not acceptable. She was so unprofessional, and the customer service sucks! I recommend to not stay here let this be a last resort because it is over priced and nasty! I made the mistake to walk barefoot in the room and the carpet was nasty and sticky like it hasn't been cleaned in god knows how long. I am not picky when it comes to motels. I mean as long as they are clean and no bugs but seriously this is the worst one I have ever set foot in. If I could give them a 0 I would.

  • Aug 16, 2015 by Crystal N

We had a last minute event and this was the only hotel available. It was smelly and dirty. Finding a bug in the one of the beds was the last straw. It is close to the beach but I'd rather sleep in my car. Way to much money for a dirty room.

  • Aug 05, 2015 by Breanna G

I went to pismo with my friends for a camping trip. They didn't reserve a site so we ended up staying at this hotel last minute. The room was nothing special. It had 2 beds and a bathroom. It also had a tv which I thought worked fine. I already have a thing about not sleeping in cheapy hotel beds and since we brought our own blankets (for camping)..I just slept on top of the comforter. The fridge wasn't plugged in when we got there so we had to wait for that to cool. I think this room was fine for a 1 night stay. The biggest complaint I have is that it had no AC. It was sooo hot so we had to keep the door open until we went to sleep.

  • Jul 30, 2015 by Shervin F.

If I could give them zero stars I would. I made a reservation through hotels.com and arrived after hours which I was told was ok. Upon arrival they refused to honor my reservation, heck they didn't even answer the door despite the sign that reads "Please ring the night bell". Hotels.com attempted to reach someone and was hung up on... stay clear of this place. Rude and dishonest owners!!!

  • Jul 25, 2015 by travelking007

Good location, 3 blocks to bars and beach. average motel type place. noyjing fancy, gets the job done. We were 10 minutes from the dunes and rented some atv's from steves. Good place for the price. not much else to say about it trip adviser.

  • May 29, 2015 by Malocca H.

Very poor customer service! I booked a room with someone named "Von". I showed up with all my stuff and was told by a couple at the front desk (who I later found out were Von ' s parents)  that Von was in India and that they would not be honoring the rates nor reservation that he quoted me. Horrible! ! Stay somewhere else!  Don't risk it!!

  • May 12, 2015 by Amir D.

I never leave bad reviews, as a business owner I understand that things fall through the cracks but this place is not only just disgusting its run by the wrong management-not accepting responsibility for a non sanitised hotel room. First off the appliances are all broken, the carpet has mold, the toilet fixtures are broken, the drains are all clogged, there was old mold around the wood in the bathroom, there are various hair in the shower wall, sink-sign of not being cleaned. The towels were dirty with various colour stains. I took pictures of the areas of concern and asked for the manager, I showed him the pictures and all he said that it was under new management, look at the office, look at the swimming pool we have remodelled those. (That was his response). I mentioned to him, what does that have to do with the rooms- the cleanliness of the rooms is the most important part-he kept saying new management. Obviously he didn't want to hear my complaints. I was not looking for a refund, just acknowledgment of the fact and that they will at least make an effort cleaning the place just a little. I guess they make the outside look good so people get convinced it's clean until they go to their rooms and see the disgusting furniture, bed and bathroom.. I hope the new management starts to clean the rooms on a frequent basis.

  • May 12, 2015 by Lisa M.

A lot of negatives, kind of run down., looks like they are trying to remodel but not in any type of fashion. Half of the stuff is old and half is new. Walls are paper thin! Water drains slow in sink and tub. Fire alarm went off with hot steam from shower. Just to say a bit

  • Apr 21, 2015 by Frank P.

update- the blue seal is still a shit hole !!!!

  • Apr 13, 2015 by leeanna697

This hotel has to be by far the most disgusting hotel I have ever seen. The room wreaked of mildew which I am sure the rotting base board in the bathroom not to mention the hole in the carpet could have had something to do with it. Not only was the toilet handle broken, the handle to the microwave was also broken. It looked as if the place had not been dusted in weeks. We had to move rooms because the smell was so bad!!!!!!!!! I cannot get over the fact that this hotel charges $187.00 a night. How they can justify this price is just beyond me.

  • Apr 06, 2015 by Jessica G.

Stayed here last week (3/19) Now upon arrival, I was very nervous since I had already booked the room before reading any of the reviews. I'll be honest, if I had read the reviews before booking the room, I would have stayed somewhere else but do not let the reviews fool you! In my opinion, the room was very nice. It had a small microwave and fridge (more than you would get at a Motel 6) Room was clean. Everything worked (heater, outlets, TV) Only complaint, would be there was no A/C but open the window and you'll be fine! Furniture was a bit out dated but that's not a problem for me! I didn't see any bugs (as other people had mentioned) and the front desk guy was very polite.... but the best thing was the price!!! Paid around $60 to be pretty much right across from the beach. Don't let the reviews scare you away, be your own judge! This place is definitely worth the price. If you're looking for luxury, find a motel in SLO!

  • Mar 09, 2015 by stevenjoshua1

I had this rated at two stars just before I wrote this review. Now why did I put it back to one you may ask? Because as of writing this review in the hotel room I noticed a bug crawling on the bed sheet. UNACCEPTABLE! I had gotten this room for $55 so for the rate and this close proximity to the beach, extremely close, I thought well why not? Biggest mistake! First off, when you walk into the room you can recognize an odor, not a good kind, actually really horrible. Secondly, as i laid down I could feel the springs from the mattress, so I couldn't sleep at all after driving all day. I didn't try the breakfast at all. The wifi surprisingly was stable enough to run basic apps, slow streaming for pictures or videos however. Parking wasn't a problem for me, as there were only two other guests staying at the hotel, all in separate areas. (It's off season). Also the carpet had obvious stains throughout, and the towels were stained as well. Overall for $55 a night I didn't expect anything luxury; however, I expect AT LEAST A CLEAN, BUG FREE ENVIRONMENT!! (Oh and a good nights rest!) I will not stay again. Do not stay here unless you really have no other options.

  • Feb 22, 2015 by Andrea S.

Where to begin... 1. Sheets had stains, black stains! 2. Only 1 power outlet worked. 3. Curtain was torn down on one side, ripped in the middle and stained. 4. Someone's exercise routine was written on the bathroom mirror. 5. One lamp shade was so new it was still in plastic, and there were bugs trapped in it. 6. No fire alarm; it looked as though it had been ripped out of the wall. 7.  Heater is an ancient thing that makes tapping noises. All. Night. Long. 8. Shower stopper came out in my hands, so no working shower. 9. Bathtub non slip mat had many mysterious stains. 10. Thin walls RUN AWAY....I think this is one of those hotels people live in...

  • Feb 17, 2015 by Amber N

This motel is so dirty it looks nothing like the pictures and the rooms smelled just like the front office which was nasty. The people in charge have no common sense and can barely speak English. They are rude and overpriced for what they offer. I recommend checking out the motel before you even pay for it so you can see what you're wasting your money on, also they will steal your money whether you decide to stay in that filth or not. So desperate for cash, I highly recommend anywhere else BUT here

  • Jan 10, 2015 by Thomas S

This motel needs a great deal of TCL. The electronic key did not work properly. It took several swipes before it unlocked the door. The wall heater switch was broken, it is January and even in southern California the nights get cool. I was given an electric space heater which worked however this is no way to treat guests. The was Wi-Fi slow and we lost connection on several occasions. The refrigerator needed cleaning as well as the shower curtain, moldy. My advice stay away, pay more for a better room. The innkeeper did suggest a good restaurant and we enjoyed the meal.

I wanted to give this hotel more stars because I have been trying to come up to Pismo, stay here, and go to the Monarch Grove for a few years now. However, now that I am here, I am truly underwhelmed. On a spontaneous whim, I decided to finally drive up here. Google has the hotel listed at $50/night but sold out. I called the hotel and they said there was still vacancy and that they would honor the online rate. Drive up, check in (and there is apparently confusion on my name and rate as no one on the phone can understand me, the initial calls are handed off a few times, and the person I spoke to was the owners son), and go up to the room. Initially, Not too bad for the price I paid- standard iron shaped burn on the rug, ect. What gets me, however, is having to plug in and configure standard electronics in the room. The TV was not plugged into the cable box, so I plug in and let it program channels.  No luck, says the cable is disconnected. I go down and speak to Don on my way out for dinner. He wants me to go back up to my room, where he fiddles with it and it goes into program mode again. He said that fixed it and I was good even though I said I had just been through this. It didn't. He wanted to stay in my room or go up without me and I told him not to worry as I would be gone early. Irritated but determined to not let it get to me I walk to dinner. When I return, it's freezing outside, literally-Frost advisories had been posted. My room , number 4 so you know, has no thermostat. I am attempting to relax with some games but apparently room 4 is right next to the owners room so I can hear every movement, checkin, and phone call. I can only freeze with my headphone for so long when I decide to call the desk at 1115 pm or so. I have to plug the phone into the wall, and it still doesn't work. Call on my cell and am told the room has central air connected to his room. When I say I am cold, Don's response is that he has the heat on. I said that I was a tad bit frustrated with the above list of issues, that I wouldn't have taken room 4 had I known I could hear every move and couldn't control my own heating, and we could talk in the morning about it-his response (at 1125 on a Friday night) was to take my money and go. Not what I wanted to hear...pay a bit more if you can and go elsewhere.

  • Oct 26, 2014 by fitzpatrick08

I paid too much for an OK sleep in a dump. I believe they feel they can charge what they do because they are walking distance to the beach. Everything needs work. Crack in toilet seat.Stains all over carpet. Bag of trash sat on the sidewalk all afternoon into evening. I asked about advertised Sunday discount, and they said it no longer applied.

  • Sep 22, 2014 by Robert K

Spent 2 nights. Very poor from the start. At reception we were greeted by elderly hosts who appeared to have no or little understanding of English. I had booked and prepaid via Expedia yet they tried to charge me again. The electronic room keys would not open the door so had to go back for replacements. Room was grotty & tired with little facilities. The complimentary breakfast on the first morning guests had to ring the office bell to see where it was, as was not prepared as outlined in the Reception area. Short of milk for cereal & no plates for food. One person trying to book out after 8.00 am rang the bell in Reception with no response so left leaving keys at the counter. The operators of this Business need lessons in customer relations. Only chose this accommodation via Expedia as it was the closest to beach at the time of booking. We were visitors from Australia. Would suggest you look elsewhere before this place.

  • Aug 26, 2014 by Hannah W.

Two of us stayed in room 9 and did not have the best time. Wifi did not work so well, screen on the window was broke, super wobbly table, and the worst part was the extremely uncomfortable bed, you could feel the springs every time you moved. These things are manageable, especially because of the great location, but because of the price we paid to stay here, not worth it at all!

  • Aug 16, 2014 by michaelrC8537MV

I was there for five min I took a room only for the reason I was tired from a long trip and my cousin picked out the hotel when I went into the room the place was filthy ! the carpets where Dirty it was in bad need of paint the door had a majr gap where yu could see outside, I am Hanycap they wanted to charge me $75 more for no reason in a off day we got a lower rate bet whenn we saw the too we said Hell now reversed the charge on my card and got the hell out of there the PLACE WAS UST PURE NASTY

  • Jul 31, 2014 by chrisparky

This motel was very basic but comfortable and good value for the price. We arrived in time to go for a walk along the shore and then return and crash out. It fitted our approach to traveling up the PCH and we had no complaints.

  • Jul 26, 2014 by Cate D.

If you can avoid it, find another hotel. The walls are paper-thin, so for our three night stay we had to listen to our neighbor's TV in the middle of the night, parents screaming at their child, and a baby hysterically crying throughout the night and morning - all while sounding like it was in our room! The room itself had dirty floors, chewed gum on the nightstand, ripped and stained sheets, and low-quality amenities. The motel also seemed to attract questionable characters - syringes in the parking lot and police being called to a room. All in all, spend a few more bucks for a nicer place & save yourself some inconveniences!

  • Jul 26, 2014 by virginia495

This place was shabby, moldy, chipped and stained furniture and rug, front porch dirty and garden by the door, filthy rocks. no hair dryers or Wi fi .toilet seat chipped and mildew. At breakfast they ran out of Tang. and served awful buns. And they had the nerve to ask for $252 Dollars. We asked to shorten our stay and the manager said he couldn't. We were stuck! This is not a place you want on your web site. The owners have some work to do.

  • Jul 19, 2014 by Rudy O

This place is great because everything is within a five min. walk. If you looking to sit like a couch potato inside your room then don't stay here. This place is perfect if you want to enjoy the locate environment and places to shop or eat, then stay here.

  • Jul 06, 2014 by arlucas8

NO air conditioning. So it was hot. The bed was far too soft so didn't sleep very well. On 2 occasions during the night we heard what sounded to be gun shots. The shower was pretty good. It was OK. I'd probably stay again if passing through. Free light breakfast consisting of 2 types of cereal, tea, coffee, OJ, muffins and danishes.

  • Apr 29, 2014 by Zhubin R.

The minute I walked into the check-in office A bad odor/stench took over the room. I check in (bad mistake!!! People, please Check the room first before you sign anything!!) then saw the room!!! Complete disaster the walls were filthy the bathroom toilet seat was dirty/gross, The shower was so filthy I couldn't take a shower. I asked "Don" the front desk guy if I can get a refund. He said it was to late... At this point I haven't even taken my bags from my car. The room was filthy ... And that I wasn't comfortable about staying in a room that was just plan nasty ( I just wanted to cut ties with this awful place) ... He did nothing for me and gave me no solution!!! Zero customer service!!!! Ruin my weekend!!! Force me to stay there cause I've already paid ...OVER PAID!!!!  I will never return !!!! And I hope someone reads this and changed there mind about staying at this dump!!!!

  • Feb 15, 2014 by Amanda T.

Not too bad. Comfortable beds. Could be cleaner. It is a typically over priced beach hotel. Not nearly as bad as it's reviews say it is. Glad we stumbled upon this place on a busy valentines day weekend when no other place had any rooms available.

  • Feb 02, 2014 by Twana W.

Way over priced. Moldy, nasty, dirty shower and bathroom. Extremely uncomfortable bed. WiFi was very poor.

  • Dec 29, 2013 by Mrs M

We stayed at this motel earlier this month, and will not likely try it again. Pros: Comfortable bed Mostly clean Location is very close to town, beach, and pier, although the immediate area did not seem safe to walk outside alone, at night. Decent furniture, and room upgrades (new doors/windows/paint) Fairly quiet, away from Hwy 1, and from neighbors. Cons: Smoke detector missing. Wall heater knob missing, and stem broken - i.e. there was no heat for the room, and we shivered through the night. Not enough parking for no. of rooms. Customer service - Hotel staff did not want to try and accommodate these issues. They did immediately offer to cancel the reservation/refund payment, however this would have left us with no place to stay late in the night. I don't think the cons would be too difficult for them to fix (except for parking), but the management said they would not remedy these things, because they are a 1 star hotel and there was enough demand. When are heat/smoke detectors optional? What happened to genuine customer service? I don't care if the price is lower than the competition, business should be honest.

Don't get me wrong, I love this place and we have stayed there many times since 1999, but they need to improve seriously.... From broken lamps to torn sheets to faded painting... They have upgraded some items but still not up tp par....this motel gets high rates for the summer due to proximity to the beach and large pool (unheated)...... Breakfast is poor with bad coffee.... So please improve and we will be back.....

  • Nov 23, 2013 by nadojeff

This motel is located towards the south end of Pismo Beach. It is painted very "blue". There is a string of one story cottage type in-line buildings and a newer 2-story building. The place is not fancy, but there are regular and family rooms with multiple rooms and bedrooms. Most importantly, it is clean. The rates rise past the point of reasonableness for the quality and lack of amenities when in high seSon, but location, location. All in all, it is an ok alternative, especially when not in high season.

  • Sep 30, 2013 by Leachwriter

My husband and I booked this hotel for a Friday and Saturday night stay on September 27 and 28, 2013 along with another couple. I chose this hotel because it is just 3 blocks from the beach and walking distance to the Pismo Pier, restaurants and downtown shops. All four of us agreed that the beds were very comfortable (pillow-top Beauty Rest brand), linens and towels were clean, free wi-fi, free coffee and sweet rolls in the mornings, and the price of the King size bed rooms were reasonably priced- $99.00 each night through a booking website. However, the hotel is old and needs much improvements. The television reception was terrible. The little refrigerators in the rooms are loud and there wasn't enough plug-ins in our room to run the microwave and the refrigerator at the same time with the television too. The shower curtains had mildew at the bottom of them but the water was hot. The other couple reported also the refrigerator was loud and they unplugged theirs, dry rot showing along the bathroom baseboards and mildew on the bottom of their shower curtain. Their carpet was worn in spots and had a hole in it under the table. Their television reception also was lousy. The outdoor swimming pool had a piece of the floor missing and jagged edges showing making it undesirable to walk on for fear of cutting open your foot. The attendants were nice and friendly and all in all it wasn't a terrible place to stay since we didn't spend much time at the room anyway. I would stay here again but my husband found too many things undesirable about this hotel.

  • Sep 19, 2013 by Marzee1958

Nice to see such a good deal so close to the beach, pier, and all restaurants. The service from the minute we walked in the door was very friendly and he was very patient with us and our needs. Our price was amazing for two people and I am sure that doubles during the summer, but I think it is smart to lower your prices to fill your Inn. Room was clean and well stocked with towels, can't say that about some 4-5 start places I have stayed in. Everything worked.....even the remote :) Carpet was clean and did not feel the need to keep on my slippers, but I do anyways!!! Slept very good, and not much noise, we had some young people smoking near the room, but just closed the windows and all was good. The place was full and it is small and yes there will be noise. I have already told friends and family about this place, it is location, location, location!!!! My son and his girlfriend plan on staying here on their way up the coast in December, you really can't beat the price. This place is family run and it is their bread and butter, be respectful people and remember 54.00 for one night, for two people, a block from the ocean is a deal!!!!!

  • Sep 11, 2013 by Girdie61

If you are only looking for a place to rest on your way up or down the coast then this is the place for you. Otherwise if you plan to stay more than a few days, don't stay here. Internet: Intermittent at best and extremely slow. Their continental breakfast is less than as well and their beds feel like chicken wire covered with fabric. When we arrived at 3 pm the property was still littered with empty Jell-O shot cups and empty beer boxes. Also the smell of Indian cuisine is very strong in the office which can be very overpowering in the morning when you are getting your coffee and fake orange juice drink. If you find this all acceptable for $50/night. ...enjoy!

We stay in Blue Seal motel driving from Los Angeles to San Simeon. Its very nice, cozy, clean motel. Great hospitality in front desk. Nice, comfortable bed. We met tourist from Germany and France in this motel. They were also very pleased. We got a good rest and continued our trip.

When we arrived the price for one night was suddenly higher than expected. The fridge was way too cold so some of our food was spoiled in the morning. The bed was clearly very old (sagging mattress) and we did not sleep well at all. The bathroom smelled a bit strange. There were stains on the floor of the room. There was no AC, so it was quite warm at night. The TV had a very bad signal. Breakfast was limited and full of sugar. The location was actually the only positive thing I can think of, because everything is within walking distance. I would not recommend this place at all however.

I can "rough-it" traveling using modest or even mediocre facilities. However, what really drives down the rating for me is noise nuisance and mediocre service. Unfortunately the Blue Seal Inn is way too noisy because it is "family and pet friendly," and there are no signs to respect fellow guests. And the manager on duty was only interested in apologizing, not confronting noisy guests or refunding any costs. Sure, the location is good, and the price is competitive compared to other places. But if you need a reasonably quiet night for sleeping, then consider paying a little more for a better place even if it's farther away from the beach. And if you can't tolerate odd smells, ill fitting doors, and the feeling that you're traveling in the developing world, then you should find other accommodations. The one night we were there the guests in the room next door found a bat flying around the room! No kidding. That freaked folks out. Even though that was probably an exceptional case, it does suggest that normal care (like closing windows) is not performed by the staff. While our room was ok for "roughing it", I wouldn't call it pleasant or quaint. The only reason this place can charge $159 for a queen bed in a dank and thin-walled room is because there is not much competition at the low end. I recommend spending $30 or even $50 more to get a cleaner, healthier, quieter room, with more responsive staff, and better amenities--even if it is at the other end of town. It's a small town, so driving to the beach isn't a big deal. Overall: way too pricey for noisy, somewhat yicky room that might have been cute in the old days, but now is just a crusty old bi-och who can't keep clean and isn't that friendly any more.

I'm sure glad I stayed here and read the reviews after. I didn't think this place was that bad. Our room had upgraded  bathroom with a flat screen wall mounted tv...but within two blocks of beach we didn't really spend much time watching tv. We also walked to outlet malls (less than 1 mile away) and walked to cafe for award winning claim chowder yum! I sent my boyfriend for breakfast but there were slim pickings of small muffins and pastries (better than nothing, we chose to go out to Huckelberrys instead.) Also 7-11 is right across the way...not to mention, there is a park across the street too. I think for the price and location it served us well.

ok so all i wanted to do in my time in america was go to pismo beach. after growing up listening to many references to it by bugs bunny on looney toons i was very excited! now the blue seal. well it is definitely cheap. it suited our budget and was for only one night on our way to san fran so we decided to give it a go. the price even included free wifi. so the room wasnt very clean but certainly doable for one night. the bathroom ensured that we would wait for the next stop to have a shower. we decided to order in some pizza for dinner and couldn't understand why it wasnt working. after a bit of investigating it turned out that it wasnt a cordless phone - and it had no cord. no worries, they sorted it out. we then, after ordering our pizza, thought we would check out what was on the TV. Hmm it wasn't working either. turns out there was no aerial for it. no worries. my mate and i after performing some contortionist moves managed to fish it out from behind the TV and plug it in. it really wasnt as easy as it sounds but there was no way i was going back to reception. the light breakfast included consisted of coffee and a couple of blueberry muffins. i probably wouldnt recommend it. i must say though, right over the other side of town in a block of shops just back from the water sells THE BEST cinnamon rolls i tried in america. THE BEST. march 2012

Great spot. Just need a/c for the summer. Rooms get pretty hot. It was a great location, very close to everything necessary to have a good time. Very well priced for a week day rate. The room was cleaned very well& left neat. Excellent front desk customer service &well trained staff. Only problem was the room temperature got very high during the day & the room had no cooling unit or ceiling fan.

We went to Pismo Beach and decided to give this place a try because it was recommended by a local business owner. We remembered stopping by there once before but couldn't remember why we didn't stay. I walked in the lobby and the smell was disgusting. I'm not sure what kind of smell it is but now I remember why we didn't stay. There was an elderly lady at the counter who put up her index finger and said, "Wait." Another female came to the counter to help me and she was very nice. I asked how much the rooms were and was told that they were $139 a night!! I can only rate what I saw or smelled. I'll never stay in a motel that smells like that in the lobby because I can only imagine what the rooms smell like. I'm giving the Blue Seal a "Terrible" rating on "cleanliness" because of the odor in the lobby.

  • Apr 27, 2013 by Karen L

Blue Seal is on the old highway one, a small old-fashioned motor lodge type but it has been lovingly spruced up by the current owners. Everything inside and out has been freshly painted and the bathrooms have been refurbished. Our room was quite small but had a queen bed and a newer flat screen TV, and served our needs for a one night stay very nicely. At approx. $60 for a wkend rate it was a fair price considering the good location. The desk manager was very friendly and helped us connect to the free wifi service.

Walking distance & cheep. You get what you pay for...... Dirty rooms, terrible beds, and walls so thin you can hear your neighbors whisper! There are cheep coupons for this place $49.99, but typically $100 for weekends. I recommend you look elsewhere first.

  • Jan 30, 2013 by froggy73

we arrived in this motel with a coupon and we paid 55€ per night for a double room. the room was decent and clean. the position is good (3 minutes walking distance from the center of the town that is really small). furnishings were not modern but we didn't spend a lot of tme in the room so , at the end, the motel was ok

This place barely deserves a star. It is filthy and appears to be falling apart. We only stay here because it is next door to my dad and we had too many people to stay at his place. The carpets are disgusting. The beds are ripped to pieces. My window is cracked and missing a piece of glass. Shower floor was filthy. Toilet seat doesn't fit the toilet. Walls are yellow from nicotine even though it is a nonsmoking room. Half of the outlets didn't work. It has a heated pool supposedly. Perhaps heated by the sun bit that is about it. Management is a fricking joke. The guy comes to our door at eight in the evening to tell us to quiet down because we caused him to lose two customers. Um no. You lost customers because you want to hide out when people try to check in. And then they checked the place out and got smart and ran. Come on now. Never again. Will sleep in my truck next time rather than pay almost four hundred dollars for two nights.

We were driving up the coast out of season, so could have taken our pick of places at Pismo Beach, but it was dark and late and we wanted somewhere to stop off and get some sleep so pulled into the Blue Seal. It was a friendly welcome, the room was cheap given the coastal location, and I liked the quaint blue buildings! It was walking distance into town and to the Pier. It is not exceptional, but I felt for the money we got a good safe, comfortable clean room, and I would be happy to stay there again.

Man möchte schon fast sagen europäischer Standard. Die Aussenpatina gibt dem ganzen einen runden Touch. Pool mit bis zu 8foot also ca 2,3 m Tiefe und 3 Geh Minuten zum Meer das sich in Sichtweite befindet runden das ganze noch ab. Kommen gerne wieder

got a laugh out of me....for another $20/night a suite at the sandcastle would have been the choice. $325+/night for a room with 3 beds, no a/c, no tissue box, no vent, pool not heated as displayed in sign, and carpet nails exposed at doorway. polite mang't but still left a taste of being ripped off. should have at least given the place the extra touch of care to show money is being well spent. oh well....for August.

Last night we stayed in a Red Roof Inn in Monterey for $130, there were bugs in the bathroom, carpet was dirty and the toilet wasn't bolted down and then it decided not to flush! We came go Pismo today with no reservations and decided to check the blue seal, the front desk clerk/manager? Was exceptionally nice, got us extra pillows and gave us a great rate. Room is a little dated but just fine for what we need it for, sleep and shower. Location is walking distance to everything. I would def come back to the blue seal.

  • Apr 26, 2012 by Tia B

Everything was dirty, the towels had what im hoping was only ketchup on them. The blankets and pillows and sheets were stained, uncleaned, and had what appeared to be blood on them. My boyfriend and I are always checking hotels for bedbugs before we even sit on the bed, and when checking between the mattresses we found somebodies dirty socks and underwear. We slept on the other bed in the room, thinking maybe it was safer... Well, next morning, I have two bites on my arm. So I'm just going to warn, this place might have bedbugs on top of dirty linens and towels. Gross. & the place smells like mold. OH! The management is biased to who they will rent to and how much they will charge you, and they are rude and scold you if you let anyone know how much you get your room for because people start calling them out. I'm white and they gave me a 3 bed room for $125, but I was talking to a black girl outside later and she told me that she had begged for the same room but the management wouldn't go lower then $250. After she confronted the manager asking why he changed the price for the person next in line he got upset and came to my room telling me not to talk about the prices of rooms to other people staying there. WTF?

  • Apr 02, 2012 by Jose Anto...

Es un mal hotel pero no es caro considerando otros de mejor categoría, así que se tiene una calidad/precio aceptable, de hecho nos costo lo mismo que una buena comida en pismo beach, eso si nunca hubo desayuno como lo anuncian.

Incredibly disgusting! You'd be better off camping in your car and bathe in the ocean or whatever water spout before staying here. They deserve no stars 1. Stained covers, flat caramel colored pillows and torn comforter from the early 80's 2. Stained floor 3. Stank a$$ room 4. Sticky surfaces (all surfaces!) 5. Clogged bathtub 6. Paper thin walls - we heard wild monkey sex in the room next door all night long 7. Mysterious finger and/or booty prints on the walls Bad encounter #1 - Can we have extra pillows? Mgr: (Dressed in boxers only) They are in the wash, ill bring them in 30 minutes No, not extra pillow cases, extra pillows Mgr: Yes, I will bring you some extra pillows in 30-45 minutes, they are in the wash because they get stinky Bad encounter #2 - Our friends came to check in and were given the keys to someone else's room who apparently was living in there. Luckily our friends are honest, or that persons stuff could have been stolen. Our friends had to leave early and gave us their key to their paid for room. Their paid for room was re-rented to someone else that night!!! If their stuff was in the room still, someone else could have had access to all their stuff. Bad encounter #3 - I was sick laying down asleep, and woke up to one of the maids in the room with the front door leading to the main street wide open as she took out the trash. I told her to come back later and she said she is almost done, but didn't leave! Bad encounter #4 - After 30 minutes of negotiating with the manager, they gave us back barely 1/3 of the price we paid. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! To top it off, when the rooms were reserved, we were only shown the upgraded rooms with flat screen tv's, expecting that they all looked like this - not the case! Pay however much extra and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!!!!

  • Sep 05, 2011 by LovesToGetaway7

This place was gross!! It stunk, the carpet was old and soiled, black mold around bathroom window, everything is super outdated as well as the toilet seat that was chipped all over it (crevices for germs!) I have a habit of searching hotel mattress's for bed bugs, blood looking stains on mattress, snot or puke looking gunk on walls. For being such a small hotel I would think it would be cheap and easy to keep up on this place. It was cheap, only thing liked about it, but you get what you pay for. The parking was horrible, too small of parking spots, car got dinged. Will never come back.

  • Aug 01, 2011 by Jason S.

I would not recommend this place unless your on a tight budget. It's better to spend a little more and get a cleaner room. This place has been around forever and it is not very well kept. It needs a good remodel and some upgrades. Just all together not a great place, but good location close to the beach.

  • Jul 30, 2011 by onrebug

We were desperately ready to get to the beach so driving around looking for a room was out of the question. After the first couple of places at 250+a nite we were ready for anything. Beds werent bad, bedding looked clean except for 2 pillowcases. Only bath towels, no hand towels or washclothes. Bathroom looks like it has been remodled reciently, tile and granite countertop. It wouldnt have been too bad but once in awhile I would get the whiff of urine. My husband said he couldnt smell it. Regardless, and knowing prices at the coast, we would stay there again. And its close enough you can walk to splash cafe and to the beach.

Man kann also in kurzer Zeit relativ bequem hin spazieren.

I had been riding my motorcycle for 2 days, camped in the Sequoia and I was on my way home to Long Beach. I was so tired, cold and dirty. I drove by the hotel on my way to the Pismo Beach campgrounds and pulled in. For $45 I got a HOT SHOWER, warm bed that was so confortable and a good night sleep. It was a clean room with a microwave and refridgerator and a little wall heater next to the bed. I was able to park my bike right in front of my room which allowed me to feel it was safe. For wine and an amazing appetizer I went to Ventana Grill and for dinner and more wonderful wine I ate at Steamers of Pismo. On the way out of town the next morning I stopped by the best cinnamon roll bakery I have ever had. It was a great experience. The hotel was nothing fancy, but for the money and convenience, I would highly recommend it.

This place is the biggest dump i've ever stayed in. Toilet seat broken, mold everywhere in the bathroom, window screen ripped, box springs bent, light bulbs burnt out in bathroom, and no bulbs in either ceiling fixtures. Toilet clogged early morning and no one would answer the front desk phone so I had to use my cell phone to call in on their local line. Instead of fixing the clog they gave us a key for another room to use the toilet. Hole in the wall that appeared to be a bullet hole. Need I say more?

  • Aug 14, 2010 by AJSRAS

This place is the worst, at any price. Dirty...smelly...terrible front desk service. One of the worst (if not the absolute worst) places I've every stayed. But for the fact that all other hotels in and near Pismo Beach were fully booked, I never would have checked into this place. Now I know why it was the only place in town that had rooms available. Don't make the same mistake I did - If you can't find a room anywhere else, I recommend that you sleep in your car rather than stay at the Blue Seal Inn.

  • Jul 28, 2010 by Frank2466

Very old, needs renovation, There was no air conditioning which allowed a very moldy enviroment. It is unfortunate, because this motel has a lot of potential and the location is very good. Not woth the money, pay little more for one of the more established hotels.

  • Apr 21, 2010 by Bryan M.

Unbelievably overpriced ($150 for one night in their "family suite") and just plain gross (carpet stains, cigarette burns in bedspreads). I needed to stay somewhere close to the Pismo Creek Village RV Resort, at which friends were staying one weekend in April. It was last minute due to a sudden illness in the family which required a trip and several-hour stay at the Arroyo Grande Community Hospital nearby. Looking for a room big enough to fit 4 adults and 4 children I thought this sounded perfect. I was told it was a 3 bedroom 3 queen-bed suite, with separate bathrooms. The room consisted of 1 main room with 2 queen beds, 1 separate room with 1 queen bed and 1 bathroom total. We just felt cheated for the $$ - I had just stayed at the local Quality Inn the previous night and it was MUCH nicer at $75 per night, albeit just 1 room with 2 full beds. SERIOUSLY!!! Do NOT go anywhere NEAR this place!!

  • Oct 21, 2009 by Johnson G.

Single queen was kinda small. Walking distance to the pier and "downtown". Continental breakfast was danishes, coffee, tea and instant cocoa.  Need more space for 2 people. YGWYPF.

  • Sep 21, 2009 by Jean A.

This place was clean, but that's the best thing I can say about it. It had no coffee maker, and when I asked for one the guy looked at me like I was from Mars, and went on about the microwave. Hmmm, not the same thing. Also some people were partying until the wee hours, yelling, screaming and playing in the pool until about 4am. No one answered the phone in the office nor did anyone go tell these wankers to shut up. The clerk was curt, and it was way overpriced. Do not stay here.

  • Aug 07, 2009 by FabTwinMom

This is one of the nastiest motel I have stayed at in a long time. I wish I had checked this place out earlier on Trip Advisor and gotten to read the not so glowing reviews. I agree with other reviewers that this place ought to be reported to the Health Department. I m okay living in a shack if I paid $10. But for $110 -- no way! I have two three year olds and I shudder to think that they are lying in the these filthy beds and are now going to get lice. The carpets are filthy. There is no AC or controlled air. Cheap windows with filthy screens are your only option and then you get to breathe the magnificent air of Main St. and hear the associated noise. It got so hot in the evening that I went to turn on the AC and found none. And to my shock, there was no fan either, only a bunch of wires hanging from the ceiling. I called the front desk and complained. The owner/clerk said that no hotel in Pismo Beach has AC (HA!) but he would give us a fan - would that work for us? We got a filthy,dirt-laden table fan which makes noise. And they seemed worried that we would walk away with it after we left........ The "non-smoking " room has an ashtray and cigarette holes in the blankets and sheets. The bathroom is pretty much useless -- the tub has no drain plug, the toilet seat is so rickety that one falls off at the worst possible time (nightmare for newly potty-trained children who will scarred for life). There are few electrical outlets available, the water faucet is filled with lime and the water does not flow properly. I could go on and on. What I mean to say is that one should stay the hell away from this place -- put up your tent on the beach if you have to or shell out the extra bucks. Better still, leave Pismo and drive a mile or so north to Shel Beach and try looking for accommodations there.

When I booked this motel, it was short notice for a summer weekend at the beach. The next day I saw the reviews and was discouraged...I even thought about canceling our trip if I could not find another place. But alas it was a getaway from the central valley heatwave for my wifes birthday so we decided to go anyways. When we got there, I'll be honest, I was pleasently surprised...it was not at all like the reviews had said. The staff was pleasent, then rooms where fine. I mean come on, for the price we paid I'm not going to be too picky, you get what you pay for and I've been in much worse places for much more money (and not early as nice as Pismo Beach). Nonetheless, we enjoyed our weekend. I wouldn't stay here for more than a couple days, but for a quick overnight getaway, I'd go back again.

Reserved a family suite for the 4th of July online in January. 2 weeks prior to our trip I called to verify our confirmation everything was fine upon arriving we entered the office an hour earlier before check in time the manager there stated our room had been sold because he was trying to get a hold of us and couldn't reach us. We originally had reserved the room for 258.50 internet special and he offered us 2 single bed rooms for double the price 415.00 and that he wanted cash and not my credit card, I didn't budge I then knew he wanted some cash in his pocket at my expense, we had no choice then to take the rooms we had driven 180 miles. Biggest mistake ever!!!! The rooms were filthy, floors were dirty, the so called bathroom door did not lock and they had their own pets keeping an eye out on everyone(ROACHES). That was the worst hotel/motel I had ever stayed at, never have I ever had such bad service, bogus internet specials, and such poor living arrangements for the price of the rooms, ruined my whole vacation. BBB.IRS and the Health Dept. should get involved. And some advice to everyone pay a little extra get a room near the beach it will be well worth it!!!!

I've stayed at this place a few times.  Years (we're talking 12+), it was cute and quaint and within perfect walking distance to everything.  The last two times we stayed there, it was awful.  Cigarette burns in the bedspread.  We asked for a non-smoking room and they put an air purifier in the room and told us that made it non-smoking.  They fought about honoring the discounted price I got from Priceline.  The pillows were stained and flat.  We had holes in our shower and the vinyl floor was peeling up.  There was a door to nowhere that was nailed shut.  Hideious wooden pannelling on the walls.  The remote control to the tv was literally stuck to the dresser with some unknown substance.  We complained after we got home and they refunded HALF of our money stating they were trying to make money to remodel.  I won't be staying there again.

  • May 22, 2009 by OrangeJuleas

I always try to be impartial in my reviews without acting too biased just based on a stay. I went with 4 friends, who I've traveled with before and have stayed in some "less than classy" places. When we arrived, we met the hotel "manager", who told us that we'd have to pay the money upfront. That was fine, and he charged us the correct rate of $48.00/night (we were going to stay for only one night) as we agreed upon with Expedia. He was very to the point, and the only time he smiled was to seemingly mock us. We got Room #1, which is the very next door to the right of his office. The first thing we noticed is the sheer disregard the room was in, as well as the smell of mold and cigarettes (I'm a smoker and have no trouble with it, however we took the room because nobody else in my group smoked and we specifically asked for a non-smoking room, which the room was billed as. Not to mention how powerful the odor was, it was as if someone had purposefully smoked an entire pack about two hours before we showed up.) We noticed the ceiling "lamp" was no more than a lampshade glued to the ceiling around a single yellowed light bulb. I'm actually surprised that it worked. The next thing we noticed was the refrigerator. I usually never care about this part of a room because I rarely use it, however this time we had plenty of snacks and drinks with us. We opened it, to our disgust, because someone else had left their food was in there, and it did not look fresh. It looked like a few containers and bags full of mold. I could handle the scent, but the rest of my party (mostly women) was absolutely horrified. I picked everything in the fridge up and threw it out. When I told the manager about it, he said it belonged to the maid. An obvious cover up, as a place this dirty could not possibly have a maid. He even took the time to come to our room and look inside the fridge after I told him, at which point I told him I threw it out. (Note: When he came from behind the counter, he wasn't wearing any shoes, and walked around his office barefoot.) I don't need to mention the condition of the room, as the bathroom floor was cracking and peeling off, the bathroom mirror was falling apart, there were randomly patched holes in the wall, the paint was yellowed and these were places where they obviously had painted around objects that were previously there (I know, very tacky), and a TV on a small swiveling stand attached to the wall (which felt like it would fall every time we touched it). We only got an alarm clock and a table with 3 chairs. We didn't want much else from the place. The beds were uncomfortable and even though I'm used to sleeping on the floor, it gave me (as well as my friends) a backache. It honestly feels like sleeping on an old box spring. The pillows were slightly more plump than a magazine and I slept on my arm for most of the night to give my head a little lift. I would have slept on the floor, but it was unclean. The next morning, we received a "continental breakfast", which consisted of instant coffee, two bagels and packaged danishes, which we gladly took over the bagels because they were wrapped. A very spartan room, which I would never complain about (especially at the price), if the room was livable. The smell and the overall feel of the room (like it was going to fall apart) made it hard to believe that you would even pay for such an experience. Even if the room was in the poor condition it was in, I would've rated it better with the exception of the stench and the mattress, which could probably result in serious damage if you sleep on them for a few days. I can understand if it's hard to maintain a place when the rates were that low, but the place had many customers (mostly bikers and their pork-bellied girlfriends...no offense) and it seemed like they didn't even try to give off the impression that they cared about you or your problems. For this reason, they won't get any return business. And I should hope that unless you need the lowest price you can find, you would stay away from this place as well. However, it WAS within walking distance of Main St., the pool (although we never went in) was actually clean (at least, on the surface), the price was low and we were glad that we weren't TOTALLY ripped off, and there were flowers planted, which made the outside of the place look like a decent place to stay. If the old saying is true and you really DO get what you pay for, this was it. Next time I will be less of a cheapskate and go for one of the nicer places on the other side of Main St. I suppose one should never judge a book by its cover.

I was coming home from San Francisco, decided to stay in Pismo Beach it was a Sunday night we had no reservations and on a budget we picked up the travelers magazine at a Denny's and found a coupon for the blue seal inn. I had always stayed at the nicest 4 & 5 star hotels with my parents, but well they just recently divorced so we were on a budget with my mom. When I saw it I really thought it would be the worst experience ever that it would be smelly and dirty, specially after smelling the lobby, but I was wrong the bathrooms had just been remodel and the room wasn't so bad. I mean it was no luxury but it was fair, it was down the street from the beach. Out of all the times I been on vacations and stayed at the nicest hotels I can honestly say this last one was the best even after staying at this little motel.

I wish I had seen these complaints before I booked with Expedia.com. Made an overnight reservation for my sons. When they arrived, they were told they could not stay there without a credit card. I spoke to the man there who was extremely rude and mouthy, not to mention his English is poor. I told my boys to leave there and warned the man not to charge my bank account since he was not providing a service. I could hear him in the background yelling to my son to tell me that I had just lost money!!! My boys were left stranded with no room at Pismo Beach...and Blue Seal charged my bank account the $69.00 for the room...plus ripped me off for another $10.50 for a total theft of $79.50. Expedia.com wasn't much help either!

THE BLUE SEAL INN. PISMO BEACH CA. STAYED 9/28/08 It was a nice litlle place for the price (50.00). Also just one block away from Pismo beach. I Dont know what all those other reviews are about but this little cosy hotel must have just had its self redone. It had all new fixtures in fanity area and restroom. Nice clean room and very polite staff. We woke up late and they were kind and gave us extra time to check out.. I am a asst hotel manager for a 1405 rm hotel and casino and i know what to look out for in a place and as a habbit i do. It comes with been in the hotel bussiness for 14 years. I could of paid 200.00 a night for a room right on the beach but i choose this place. It looked cozy and we seen that it was just a block away from the beach and all the stores and restaurants and the pier. Again it is just a nice little place for a couple, it was like a cottage atmosfear. we seen the beach from the street it was on so we pulled in. They let us view the room and we saw that it was nice and cozy and clean so we took it. Next time we are in town we will stay there again. It does not have a restaruant or lounge or bar but that is all one block away and it is a nice walk.. ANTHONY LAUGHLIN NEVADA

I went with my daughters and grandchildren for a three day trip to Pismo. We were really shocked by the poor condition of the rooms we stayed in. They said they cleaned the carpets and they were damp but were also filthy......Bathrooms were in deplorable condition......cracked paint....mold, etc. The bedding was clean but we had to ask for towels on a regular basis....I was very disappointed and do not recommend this motel for any one!!!!!!! Garbage by the pool was NEVER emptied the entire 3 nights we stayed.....the trash in the flower beds was never picked up, beer bottles, etc.....the noise from the upstairs rooms kept us awake to all hours...I will pay double to stay somewhere else!!!!

Stayed a week, in 2 different rooms. Moved from first when for extreme moisture, moldy windows, no vents in entire unit, carpet cleaning chemical smells, (resulting in sore throats while on vacation), filthy carpet, (solied, blackened socks), spackled walls, no towel racks, uneven and unsafe concrete paths. New room: Bugs in bathroom and refrigerator, hurtful springs in bed poking prevent sleeping, no clean blankets or comforters available to replace ripped up ones on bed, continental breakfast, one light bulb for very dark lighting, inconsistent availability of "complimentary continental breakfast", loud partiers, beer cans and other trash littered around. Great location.

This by far is the most nasty disgusting room that we have ever stayed at. It was not obvious at first but once we closed the windows and were getting ready for bed it was very obvious. The room smelled like a mix of urine and cigarette smoke. The furniture was sticky to the touch. And like someone else has mentioned walking on the carpet barefoot is nasty. After taking showers our feet were black from walking on the sticky, dirty carpet. I was horrified at the thought of our two children touching the carpet and furniture in this room. I had the hardest time falling asleep as the thought of being in this disgusting room overtook my mind. Didn't stick around long enough to even see the continental breakfast, no way were we gonna eat anything from this place. Checked out the next morning and found another place. This place is not worth one cent of the $189.00 they charge. The Blue Seal Inn should be reported to the health dept.

We went to expedia.com to reserve a room in pismo. we were looking for a reasonably priced room, within walking distance from the beach, and we found it the blue seal inn. upon arrival we were informed that the $80 dollar room we reserved online was now going to be a $100 dollar room, we went ahead and got it. our mistake. we got in the room and like they say you get what you pay for so were weren't expecting much, it was a place to sleep. we spent the day at the beach and came back, i was looking for my cell phone, and i checked under the bed, and to my surprise i found condoms, used condoms. we went to the office to complain, and to get another room, they said that they wouldn't give us another room because they said it was probably from us!!!!!! so gross. so we went back to our rooms, dirty condoms under the bed and everything. The next day i wanted to take a swim in the pool, disgusting. I was infested with little fly things and mosquitos. Terrible place, bad service. *TIP* spend the extra $30 dollars and get a hotel on the beach, that is way nicer than this one.

we were looking to have a nice vacation .,, did not enjoy stay at blue seal ..said continental breakfast..could not even get coffee or donuts... sink did not drain .asked to get it fixed they said ok but did not ever fix it in the 3 days we stayed. they did not clean rooms. but once.. had to ask for towels and ice bucket finally after 5 hours got one. if you are 4 ft. the shower was ok .i am 5 ft tall and had to bend over to get under shower head. they say pet friendly but after we paid said no pets and they dont give a refund. so had to keep pet with us. cleaning staff was rude and said they did not understand... somehow that sounds funny to me cause if they dont understand how do they know what we are asking.

My husband and I found the Blue Seal Inn to be fairly gross. There was black mold in the bathroom, the sink did not drain, and I wasdisgusted by the thought of walking barefoot on the carpet. The pool was not heated and the continental breakfast was coffee and a box of questionable looking muffins. It also was not set out until well after 8am. Considering what this hotel costs, keep looking, you can't do any worse.

We stayed in Room 20, it was reasonably clean and well maintained, except for the Bedspread. The Bedsheets were paper thin and very scratchy, and the Bedspread had burned out holes (this was a Non-Smoking Room). The walls are also paper-thin, and the snoring and TV noise of our neighbors was clearly audible. We did not use the pool, but it looked inviting. This Motel is well-priced for the location, and was sold-out by nightfall on a Tuesday night. The Manager seemed pleasant on check-in. If I need to stay here again, I will bring my own bedding. I'd rather stay here than with my In-Laws.

I had called the blue seal inn on thurs morning to reserve a room for the coming Saturday/Sunday and recieved a confermation number. The desk clerk told me check in begins at 2 pm but we could check in anytime after that. We arrived at the hotel at 845pm and was told no reservation had ever been made (even though i recieved a number from a guy working there), i told him i had my reservation number and he said he gave our room away. There was a possibility he could get us in a room IF a group didnt show up w/in 15 mins but it was going to cost us $100 MORE than what i reserved a room for. After making up several different unbelieveable stories as to why he gave our room away we left.

I had booked a non-smoking room one week prior on a discount travel site online. I printed out my confirmation and fortunately brought that with us on our trip. Upon arrival at 1:30pm, we were told that we had booked two nights and so the hotel could not accommodate our $140 price quote. Instead it would be $180 for the one night. I told the clerk that it said on my confirmation that I had only one night booked. She argued, stating that her paper confirmation said two and she would not honor the online price quoted. When asked to see her confirmation, we pointed out that it also said one night and she unhappily gave us the quoted price. We were given the keys and went to our room. Upon entering, our room had not been cleaned, our bed unmade, trash around, and reeking of cigarette smoke. We figured we were early, since check-in was 2pm and went to the beach for an hour or so. We arrived back to our hotel around 3:30 and our hotel was just then being cleaned. We waited in our car until the maid was finished. We entered our room to the most disgusting environment ever. There was filthy wood panelling on the walls, the ceiling was cracked and had holes in it, there were large unpainted patches on the walls, we had a door to "nowhere" that was screwed shut, the toilet tank lid was broken, the mirror in the bathroom was peeling, their was grafitti in the bathroom, the linoleum in the bathroom was peeling up from the floor, the shower knob to turn on the water was hanging off from the wall, there was no remote to the tv, and the entertainment center and all the hotel reading material and endtables were sticky, the smoke alarm was hanging from the ceiling, and the room reeked of smoke and flowery spray. We complained to the clerk (different from the one who checked us in) and he claimed there were no other rooms available and we had to stay there, even though the NO VACANCY sign never got turned on. He said he would put an air filter in the room, we would have to stay out of our room for an hour, then it would be a non-smoking room (his words exactly). He also said he would replace the smoke alarm, like that would matter. We continued to stay out of our room that we paid for, tired and killing time, for the next hour. When we returned to clean up for dinner, the room smelled even more like smoke and the air filter never got taken out of our room. This place is disgusting. I'm appalled that they think by putting an air filter in a room, they magically have a non-smoking room. My sinuses were so stuffed up and I had the worst headache the next morning from my cigarette allergy. I will never stay at this hotel again and I plan on complaining to the Better Business Bureau.
