The food was delicious, Tracy was super sweet the whole time and kept checking on us. The busser Alex was great too and kept re filling my water.

Our favorite place to eat as a family! The food is always amazing and we love that the kids can enjoy as well! Highly recommend!

Good food.... onion rings were soggy when we got em... plus ordered wine... assumed it was a bottle for 28$.  Nope just a cup. Hamburger was great!!!!!

  • Jun 09, 2020 by Mindy H.

My friend and I went here on Saturday after we were ignored at a neighboring restaurant for over 20 minutes. MUCH better atmosphere! Our server Angel was so attentive and friendly! Food was good. My salmon was just a bit salty but still delicious. Great cocktails! We will certainly be back

  • Jun 07, 2020 by Zachary S.

Great place! Great atmosphere! Majority of the beers on tap were IPA's which a plus to me. Had a mishap where our table was cleared before we were done eating. They made it right, by replacing the sandwich and gave a free dessert.

Blast 825 is now open for dine in! Glad to be back and see familiar faces! Everyone was wearing mask, sanitizing tables and social distancing! Food is always delicious! Never have anything to complain about. Can't wait to come back. Shoutout to the Blast crew for always being welcoming and having good vibes! See you guys soon !!

  • Jun 07, 2020 by Arianna L.

During these hard times, all the employees have been great!! everyone is following protocols, I see that every table is being cleaned as soon as the customer leaves. All employees are wearing masks. Tracy our server has been efficient in checking up on us and this has always been a Spot to eat and drink! Thank you BLAST FOR BEING OPEN!!!!!

  • Jun 07, 2020 by Lizbeth E.

First time here and their food was delicious! Crew was following protocol and also had amazing customer service!

  • Jun 07, 2020 by Annette R.

Blast is the place to go, they're very clean and are following COVID regulations. For my first time it was no disappointment. Definitely recommend

  • Jun 07, 2020 by Caitlin J.

The food tonight was mediocre at best. We went out and know this is the covid world, but If you want to feel good about a restaurant taking precautions to protect you, maybe pick a different restaurant. Everyone including the manager takes their mask off when not directly interacting with you. When the masks are on, typically their nose isn't covered. No one was wearing single use gloves as their sign states. You might think, well you are risking something going out right now, yes I get that, but If they are being that inconsistent front of the house, I can gauruntee back of the house is no better. Talked to the manager, instead of saying, you are right we will do better, he just said, we are on them about it, what more can I do. Not impressed, food didn't redeem the situation at all.

  • Jun 06, 2020 by Dan N.

Blast is now serving dine in, however there are some issues they need to fix: 1. Not enough staff as it took a long time to order and even longer for a  2nd round. 2. A majority of the staff were NOT wearing masks as required by the county.  Not sure about kitchen staff. 3.  Watched the busser clean tables and it does not appear as though they are properly cleaning tables and chairs based on Santa Barbara Health regs. 3. Why do you have glasses with pens on the tables when they arent being sanitized after each use? On a positive note, they did have social distancing in effect. Overall, I would suggest a bit of retraining and increase to staff to handle business levels.

I give a 5 for food but a 1 for service so my average is 3. My husband and I first went to Blast when it was transitioning from Rooney's. We loved the food and brought family and friends when they would come to visit. But after that first few visits it seems like the service went down hill. It often takes a long time before the server comes to introduce themselves and take our drink orders. The food usually comes out fairly quick and hot but then it seems to take a long time before we see our server again. Several times now we've waited 30 minutes to get our check. We've received better follow up service from the busboys. Sad thing is we enjoy the food so we keep going back hoping the service will improve. But it doesn't.  Tonight, even after waiting 30 minutes we finally went to the hottest to pay I waited another 5 + minutes for them to find our server to get our check. When he finally came up he didn't even give me his full attention. He was giving the hostess instructions for drinks for another table!  My daughter is a server (not at Blast) and I know how important tips are so I always tip generously. But not tonight. Not sure if we will ever go back and I'm definitely going to stop recommending.

Usually great...usually. Ordered a pick-up for Wingman Wednesday (they're not open due to the pandemic). Tomorrow is my birthday, so what better way to celebrate with than a bunch of wings and a growler. And it's a little my fault for not checking the order before leaving, but apparently they can't read: SAUCE ON THE SIDE doesn't mean put it on the wings, but that's what I got. At a restaurant that is COMPLETELY EMPTY right now, you would think they'd get the orders right. I won't be back during this crisis, and will definitely think long and hard before going back when it's over...

  • May 09, 2020 by Kris H.

This place is less than McDonald's the food is soggy you order the tots fully loaded there was nothing on the tots it was only tots I could do that in a bag in my refrigerator come on if you're going to make a burger and it might be  wet and it's going to be delivered or picked up be smarter put something to sustain the moisture from the barbecue sauce from the bun I don't know maybe lettuce don't put it on top there's no purpose for it on top put it underneath and put the barbecue sauce on that and I'm an electrician and I can Make a better Burger you feel you're being successful but you're not eventuallyyour going to fail step up your game think think think then make. Innout never falls short.

  • May 01, 2020 by Joshua W.

It's so great to now have a place to visit right here in Orcutt where the atmosphere  is awesome and the food and drinks are perfect just like they have in San Luis Obispo.  Life's too short have a blast!

  • Apr 30, 2020 by Shawn R.

Great experience! I placed an order for curbside. Jake was very professional and kind. Thanks for being so sweet 825 BLAST! Great local spot, awesome food, & best wings in town! Staff seems to be on it! Thank you Ashley S. Decent food. Service is definitely in need of some real training. Some awareness! It was such a pleasure to have Michelle to help me with my togo order. Thank you Michelle for the great customer service! I believe she might be the manager, kudos to you!

  • Apr 04, 2020 by Nayvadius W.

Food was pretty good. Servers were pretty hot. But GOOD LORD the wait for even the simpliest of requests took longer than it took my son to come out of the closet. What was a 2 hour visit could've been cut down to 30 minutes! And If I gotta wait 20 minutes for an ice cold tall boy then theres a problem! And if daddy don't get his beer then theres gon be issues. Otherwise was pretty aight. Server was pretty hot too. I mean really hot! Miss that gal.

  • Mar 11, 2020 by Ismael R.

I want to say that the food is good but it has the worst service I've ever experienced. We went Friday evening (6 total) they never bought out one of the entrees, never refilled drinks and didn't bring condiments. When I asked to remove my entree from the tab the server ask why I didn't remind her of my order. Not my job to tell you how to do yours. The manager came over and wanted to know what had happen, so I told her and her response was that we're having problems with our servers. Go figure.

  • Mar 05, 2020 by Susie R.

Enjoyed the decor and atmosphere.  The Tri Tip sandwich was delicious!  The fries, sweet potato fries and the house cut chips, were all super good.  We will definitely be back.

  • Feb 29, 2020 by Roxie H.

First experience since Rooney's has been transitioned to Blast Brewery and what a let down.... The service itself was okay. I say 'okay' because the waitress was pleasant but the food took an exceptionally long time considering it was VERY slow for a Saturday @ noon. (Not servers fault) I ordered a burger medium and as seen in the picture, not only was the bun burned, the burger patty was well done and dry. I only ate half of the burger because it wasn't appetizing at all, and I'm not really a fan of returning food. Considering the price,  I expect everything to be cooked properly and served efficiently. Would come here for beer, skip the food.

  • Nov 19, 2019 by Me

First time I saw the website of a brewery without mention of the beers brewed there!

  • Sep 20, 2019 by BRITTANY

Went out with my friend around 830ish for dinner and drinks on a Monday night. Not a lot of people it was kind of nice. Great service and good drinks just a little pricey.‍ Then I came back the next week on a Friday on me and my husbands anniversary. We are definitely not a fan of the loud music. I guess they have a band on Friday's I dont know. My ears are still ringing from the noise lol. Don't get me wrong they where a great band. They should of had the band towards the back not right by the door. Couldnt really talk with my husband much either. My husband got the beer that was on the wall. He got 3 full glasses for $13. I was a little bummed because just for 2 cocktails that where no more the 8oz each we spent $24. And I have definitely had better drinks for a cheaper price. But I will still definitely be returning :-) But next time sticking with the beer wall. Definitely worth the experience. Food was really fresh... I mean they pickle there own jalepenos. Get there homemade potato chips with there AMAZING garlicky ranch. Calamari was real good, there tartare sauce was good. My husband got the cowboy blast burger. He asked for it to be medium rare but it was well done. We had a sweet waiter. You could tell he was fairly new but he did the best he could. He was such a sweetheart.

But, you can check out Blast 825 that has come in it's stead. The Grand Opening was this weekend, July 2019, and if these crowds are indication of the restaurants success, it will be grand. Quirky and high energy level craft brewery with pizza and locally sourced burgers. Come check it out!

Rooney's Irish Pub, built like an Irish Pub.
    Love the Barkeeps, Hi Sara!
    The new name...…..blast...……..nope.

  • Jul 25, 2018 by Clarice77

It is transitioning to Blast, but the food is delicious! The fresh made potato chips and dip is so good, you’ll want more! Atmosphere is great and the Chili appetizer is a meal all by itself, then they add 2 slices of grilled cornbread?!?! OMG, it was sooooo good! So good that I went back again...the next day! It is flavorful with chunks of Tri tip in it and they weren’t stingy at all! The Irish Nachos, with Tri Tip and instead of tortilla chips, they use cross cut fries! Wow!!! All we needed was the check and a wheelbarrow to roll us out!!!!

  • Jul 23, 2018 by Linda Tu

Great Cobb salad. Love the salsa and pico de gallo. Though wished they had more dessert choices. Maybe next time.

  • Jun 24, 2018 by pgamma

I love to go to Rooney’s for their Shepherd’s Pie. It’s the best ever as it’s beef is perfectly cooked and oh so tender. Yummm! Can’t go wrong. I hope they don’t change the menu and take out the authentic cuisine!

Really great place. I highly recommend the coming here. I had the bangers and mash my daughter Alex had the pulled pork and mac and cheese with the side of fries and then my other daughter Samantha she had the petite steak with fries. The food was phenomenal. My only suggestion is, when they bring out the bangers and mash or the shepherd's pie or any gravy heavy dish, add a piece of bread with the meal would be great. That way you can stop up all the good stuff.

In general, we like to order different things so that we can sample each other's plates and Rooney's did not disappoint. For dessert we had the Guinness bread pudding and it was very very tasty. the atmosphere here at Rooney's is very good very quintessentially Irish. I had a flight of six of their custom bruise and me being a dark beer fan St Patrick's Porter really hit the spot but all the beers are really good even the ales and I'm not a big ale drinker.

The prices were moderate and I'm willing to pay what I did for the meal. The waitress was top-notch and came by the table often and asked us what we needed so that was a very good plus for the restaurant. Overall this place is excellent and if you're looking for some awesome Irish food or I would say American Irish food this place is hard to beat so I highly suggest this restaurant and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

St. Patty’s was a blast! Music was awesome, beer was good. Only complaint.....the worst corned beef I have ever ate. Please, let me cook your corned beef for you next year!!!! Yours was not cooked long enough, and maybe not the best cut of beef, and not the right spices.

Their Irish Nachos was disappointing since I expected all those topping on crisscut fries, not chips!!
Their version of Shepherds Pie was awesome. Rest of the group ordered Fish & Chips, and one person ordered Chili.
The Fish & Chips looked great, but the bowl of Chili was tiny.

We had Rooney's cater our wedding and they did an amazing job! Initially, the food was just going to be dropped off, but to ensure the food stayed fresh and warm, Jake and his team came out to the venue. Our guests commented on the delicious selection of appetizers and the abundance of food. They were also impressed by how quickly the team restocked and kept the buffet tables looking nice. They even made a platter just for us and brought it to our table to make sure we had food waiting. I quickly got to nibble a few bites but just the gesture itself, going above and beyond, demonstrated excellent planning and execution on their part. Many thanks to Jake and the Rooney's team!!!

Upon entering I was immediately excited for what was to come. Very inviting, very open, good music, games on the TV, and quickly greeted. My pops even got a sampler before he ordered his beer which was nice. The setup was great for the hope for good food, which quickly faded. The burger was a little on the pink side in the middle, not bad, but eh. My dads chowder wasn't what he was hoping for. All in all it wasn't bad, not super great, but not bad.

I came in to try their beer which consisted of an Amber, a Blond and a Porter. They were out of the 1 style that is driving the market.... IPA. Only 3 of their handles and probably 3 times that many guest handles. It amazes me, seeing that they brew on-site, that they wouldn't be pushing their own wares. There is no higher profit than selling "your" beer by the pint in your establishment. What gives?

  • Jun 20, 2017 by Ari37

First, Rooney's is in a great location (if you live in or are visiting Orcutt) and the building is excellent. I've never been to a pub in Ireland, so I can't say it's "authentic", but it looks great. The surroundings are very well done. When it first opened I went a few times and was very pleased with the food, though not pleased with the crowds, and the service was iffy. They made a few menu changes that I didn't like, so that lessened my desire to eat there. In the last year or so I've just found the crowds, noise, and iffy service to be more than I'm readily willing to endure. All my friends who drink love this place, so if sitting in a loud, crowded pub and downing beers while eating marginally above average food is your thing you'll probably be satisfied here. We don't drink, so that probably colors my review (though they really don't have anything "fun" to drink that is N/A. My wife couldn't even get a Shirley Temple). I do like the bangers and mash, and my wife is very fond of the shepherd's pie and the corn beef, so now we will occasionally call in an order to go and bring it home.

Rooney's is won of our favorite dinner places. The food is delicious although it can be a little too spicy. The servers are very accommodating and will make additions or changes easily. The bar serves beverages that are better than most places. The margaritas are the best but the beer is terrific too. It gets noisy sometimes but that's one of its charm.

The food was superb. I had the shepherd's pie, creamy cheddar chive mashed potatos, gravy, fork tender short ribs braised in Guinness topped with carrot ribbons, fresh peas & arugula. Simply delicious! The only reason I deducted one star was for the service. The hostess was dimissive, the service was slow, & when I asked about making reservations for Easter Brunch as I was leaving the hostess said," Yeah, just a minute" and walked away. I finally gave up & left

Brought my brother here for his birthday and it was his first time. We came on a Saturday afternoon at 1 pm. Our party of four was placed in the back by ourselves. Our waitress was friendly but not very attentive. The food was good but not the best we've had here. It used to be one of our favorite places to eat at but is no longer one we jump at the chance to go to. Service is not what it used to be.

My daughter and son-in-law took me here on their last visit Disappointing to see my favs have not been kept on the menu I loved the tri tip sandwich and the BLT was one of the best I've had My son-in-law says it was the best Reuben he has had!

This place has the potential to be awesome! The Irish Red Ale is excellent. But... our waitress was slow and inattentive. The food could have been amazing but wasn't. Best tasting sweet potato fries I've had. But they were cold by the time they made it to the table. I also ordered a grilled cheese sandwich. The flavors were excellent. But the execution was poor. The bread was stale and dry. But not grilled or toasted. The crust was inedible. If done properly, would have been an excellent meal. I will try this place again, but hope for different staff.

  • Feb 14, 2017 by Tim Karen Marshall

They had things screwed up from the minute we walked in, with reservations I might add. Most were very unhappy with the kitchen with wrong orders ,burnt buns, no bacon or raw bacon and taking forever to get our food. Some blamed the waitress but she has no control over the kitchen. We're just lucky it wasn't crowed....maybe 3 other tables and our large group. We won't be going there again!

I hate to only give this 3 stars because the overall feeling and environment at Rooneys is amazing! The reason for this rating is we were there on Friday night and while I'm a huge fan of live music (and the band itself was great!) and I'm not sure if this is always the case, but the music was sooooo incredibly loud we literally had to either scream across the table to talk or be right in the persons face to hear. I honestly can't believe how loud the music was, totally disruptive to the whole ambiance of this otherwise super awesome place. Again, this was my first time here so I am not sure if the music is always so loud, but it was a huge negative. My head was pounding when we left, and we ended up going to Elmers where we could enjoy a conversation, and still have music in the background. We also had an issue with ordering food, we were provided menus when seated but then told the kitchen was closing (maybe we had waited too long to order?)

Went for dinner 7:30, sat down they gave us menus, never took our order. When we asked about food they said the kitchen was closing, asked the waiter if they had heaters outside he said no, but when we went outside they did have them. Music was awesome, the band did a great job

Three of us ate there on a Thurs. night. We thought it would be a good place to go on a whim and not as crowded as when we try to get in on a Friday night. We were each given a bag of their homemade potato chips, their signature appetizer . They were stale tasting and served with a new dip. Something like green goddess dressing. My husband tried the special soup of the day, shrimp consumme. It honestly tasted like they were trying to get rid of some old shrimp. It was very strong, tasting of maybe dried shrimp or shrimp sauce. The burger , $15, was very mediocre. My son ordered fish and chips and looked like someone had opened a box of frozen fish and a few frozen fries, cooked them up and served them. Not what I'd expect. We were very disappointed in a place that usually serves up average food. They are way overpriced for what we got!

in for a beer and a snack - second time there. Both times the service was good, this time I am only giving 4 stars, not as happy with the potato nachos as I was with the pulled pork sandwich. Meet a work colleague for a drink this week for drinks and snacks. The wine was great but the buffalo wings were not. My fault since it may not be the thing to order at an Irish Bar. Also - it did not seem right that you can't get the Happy Hour deal unless you are at the bar.

I visited the pub for the first time tonight to experience karaoke. I left without being served! I sat at the bar for at least 10 min without any eye contact from the bartenders. When I tried to wave one down its like he looked right through me. Then I watched the same guy who just ignored me spark up a delightful conversation with the female bartender who also didn't acknowledge me or even say hi!! while I waited!!! They were not that busy. So I then walked to the karaoke stage to ask when it would start. Was told it was just about to start. Then, I saw the male bartender who recently ignored me and I asked, "excuse me can I get a drink" as I walked back to the bar. Once I sat down at the bar he was no where to be found and the female bartender was waiting tables. A few more people rolled in and a third bartender was near where I sat, he pretty much immediately went to them.... This is not good customer service guys and as a new patron it drove me away!!! At least act like you care and welcome each new face at the bar! Try harder next time

  • Jun 22, 2016 by Aqualung A

I went with a few friend to knock back a beer or 2 and to have something to eat. The service was no-existent, my guess because we did,t sat at the bar? When we did get feed the food was fair to almost good. but the service sucked hard, once we got out food we never saw the same server again. The when we finally got the bill. it was like being charged for 4 star dinning and all we got was 1.5 food and service. Sorry I would be going back. to boojwah for me.

The "nightclub" clientele is gross. Bartenders make mediocre drinks, and a $10 cover???? For what? Shitty drinks, unpleasant atmosphere and a bad taste in my mouth by the end of the night? Lower your cover to what it's worth, an ID check and a smile. Lame.

Traveling up the coast we were staying in Santa Maria. The hotel gave us a list of places to eat and Rooney's was our pick after seeing the photos of the pics on Yelp. But I must say that photos do not do this food justice. It was absolutely delicious. We each had a small Caesar salad, the Shepard's pie and bread pudding for dessert. The Irish beer on draft is enough to visit this place. The Shepard's pie was not like any other Shepard's pie I've ever had. Braised short ribs on a bed of cheddar mashed choice potatoes, piled high with arugula and drizzled with beef gravy pearl onions and peas. Beyond delicious. The ingredients in all there food seemed freshly prepared not from cans freezers or boxes. A feast for our taste buds. The bread pudding had Irish whiskey toffee sauce and ice cream. Might go back just for that. Well done.

We went in for a Birthday party with about 30 people, it being the birthday girls 1st time there, she was excited to try Rooney's out. The night started out with the waitress dropping her tray of drinks on my 7 yr old son, which they got him a Rooney's Tshirt that he LOVES. (Thank you) Needless to say service went down hill from there. Luckily for us Leann stepped in and helped out and helped make things right. They food was Great! My Bonny Blonde beer was yummy. We will be back,we will just be a little leery about service next time. And Also Thank You to Jake (the owner) for taking the time to come and talk to us about the situation, it was greatly appreciated.

Depends who is working on the management floor ... Same with the quality of food ... Quit coming two years ago because of poor service and fair food. Note: Grand Opening and first year great value, quality, service! As other family took over, everything went downhill quickly!

We had not been back in over two years… Tried happy hour, and was impressed about the changes…

Return twice recently with my clients to have celebration dinners, and received excellent service, and food!

When we explained that we hadn't been in recently in over two years and were impressed with the quality of service and food… It was explained to us that you had a new chef, and the entire staff was retrained… Genius!

Tonight, we came by for happy hour, only to find that the old Rooney's head returned ... Poor service, little to no value, and food was pitiful. Waited 15 minutes just to speak to manager on duty, who was flirting with waitresses, and sitting with patrons at the bar. I guess you have to be your best friend to get good service at Rooney's!

When the Mr. Family manager finally came over, and I was sharing with him the experience, patrons chimed in and explain to him that this is what goes on in your restaurant when you're not paying attention… "This man is only trying to help you, you should listen ..,"

Anyway… I donated my $15 gift card offered for the food I did not receive, instead of a credit and gave to another patron.

Obviously I will not need the gift card… It is unfortunate that younger family, does not have the same commitment, and work ethic that it took to build a fine restaurant?

My husband enjoyed his corned beef and cabbage. Both were excellent. The fresh potato chips served were just yummy, and I don't usually like potato chips. The highlight for me, was the side order of brussel sprouts we ordered. Wow! Sounds weird, but delicious!

A very popular pub in Old Orcutt. Among the possibilities to eat at night this restaurant stands out in Old Orcutt. The food has an Irish slant but is far better than any Pub I've been in in Ireland or England. The staff if excellent and you'll get seated quickly - if there's room! • Jul 10, 2015 by Alohagurlie

I had I hopes for this restaurant but it was a flop. I feel like I'm being pretty generous with the 3 star rating. This place has the appeal of a cool hip pub that serves Irish style food but I was disappointed in my food. They have a bar here and I'm sure all the beer was good so if your looking to watch a game and have a few drink then this place might be more your speed. As for me I was hoping to get some delicious bangers and mash and a nice thick cup of corn chowder. Like I stated earlier I was disappointed with my meal. The soup was thin and seemed like it came out of a can and the bangers and mash was just so so.The menu said it came in a Guinness sauce but the sauce I got seemed like they just poured the beer in my bowl. Now I like a nice beer like anyone else but not as a sauce for my mashed potatoes. I don't know maybe that's just me lol. This place maybe was just having an off night as my family who lives near here really enjoys this restaurant and raves about it. I would be willing to try it again sometime in the future and hopefully I'll have a better experience. So try for yourself as it is a neat idea of somewhere to go that's a little different from all the other restaurant and brewing companies in the area.

  • Jul 08, 2015 by Jerry B

Tim Rooney, owner of Rooney's Irish Pub has it dialed in for authenticity. The only thing missing are the images of the Irish countryside leading up the front doors. The pub has a festive atmosphere and was designed to accommodate both drinkers and diners alike. During NFL football season, over a dozen flat screen TV's can be seen showing your favorite team or game while you hoist a tall one with your friends. If you are a Green Bay Packer fan, you will be Tim's favorite as that's his team too!. Food is typical pub faire serving everything from Irish "Nachos" (cross cut fried potatoes served nacho style) to Bangers and Mash to Irish Stew. And yes, for us vegetarians he even offers Veggie Burgers and an awesome hummus plate that will fill you up. Rooney's is a wonderful watering hole for locals and visitors alike. Don't miss it.

While reviewing Trip Advisor and Yelp we read about this Pub and after a long drive it sounded good. We were surprised the food and Beer were amazing. My wife had a very good speciality mixed drink and I had their brewery sampler, we liked all the samples. I especially like the Porter and had a pint with dinner followed by a sample of 15 (?) year old Jameson's. I returned the next day thank Jake and Ashland Rooney for their hospitality and raise a pint or two of Guiness. Looking forward our return.

Twice I've tried this restaurant because I really wanted to like it, once with family and once with friends. I had hoped the first disappointing experience was because it was an off day for the cook. Then when it happened again, I decided it was a pattern. Beautiful surroundings and all the potential for a hot spot if the food matched the atmosphere and service. We did leave comments both times in hopes of improving the menu. I thought there would be more Irish specialties on the menu. Maybe most people go for the entertainment. I haven't tried just going for that.

Five of us had an early dinner on a Wednesday evening. All five had different food/drink selections and all were good. Nice portions on the food. The bangers and mash was outstanding. Service became had to obtain as the crowd increased. Also learned that the happy hour drink prices on the menu did not apply since we were seated at a table, not at the bar.

My boss took us here for a work lunch. After were sat, it took literally 10-15 mins for the server to make his 1st appearance to ask for drink orders. It took quite a while for our food to come out, a little more then what fish and chips should take I think, however when it did come out, it was pretty darn good, enjoyed the fish n chips very much. It also took the server quite a long time to decide to bring our check after we were done eating and sitting there for a while. Looked like he was flirting with one of the female waitresses instead of following up with his tables. I would go there to eat again, but I'd like a different server next time that's not slackin off. Food rating alone: 5 stars - service: stars.

Typical bar food fare...with #Irish color. #Burgers, fries and #beer. #Rooney's capitalizes on the atmosphere of jolly ole #Ireland. Not for the dieting population, nor those squeemish of heartburn!!

Expected a long wait, since there was a football game on and the place was crowded, but luckily, our food arrived quickly and was good. Ordered the Reuben, just to be traditional, and was not disappointed. Another in our party ordered the special mac n cheese (they had been there before and liked it) - said it was very good. Nice atmosphere.

Hi , this is a pretty good sandwich shop. The blonde ale they have is really good but they are always out of it. It is right next to a cop shop so drink responsibly.

We went early on a weeknight, every little thing was perfect! I know the place gets full and probably noisy, but it was quiet when we were there. All beers (love that they serve tastes of the home brewed ones) were cold and delicious, and quite different from each other, making the tastes a good idea. Jesus, our server was kind, attentive and quick. Our food was perfectly prepared, even the bun on the pulled pork sliders was top notch, buttery and crisp at the edges. The pork had some sauce, but was not drowning in it. Bangers and mash? cozy, yummy comfort food! Go to Rooney's, early on a weeknight for quiet, on the weekend for a roaring good time.

Fine Food and Family Fun. Rooney's irish Pub is the best in the Central Coast. the prices are fair and affordable, great atmosphere and the best micro-brews ever. Now they have live music on Sundays and offer a great value to an already fabulous level of service. I strongly recommend this Restaurant!

I love visiting Rooney's! I love the chips!! We have come here frequently since it opened, and are always pleased with the food, selection of beers, and the service is decent, could be a bit better, but never terrible. I love their lost shepard's pie and their ceaser salad. Definitely could amp up the amount of dressing on the salads, they seem a bit dry, but really good flavor!! My other suggestion would be that the servers are just a little more attentive, but all in all we love Rooney's and love the food!

Their house chips are very addicting. Service was amazing did not miss a thing. We will be back. Don't forget to the Rocky road sundae with Guinness ice cream.

They listened to my last comments and took it to heart. My compliments to the owner!. I was a little apprehensive when friends wanted to take me to Rooney's. It was last night, Saturday July 26, 2014, 6pm. We were seated right away. I went to restroom to wash and found the bathroom sparkling clean. I returned and was asked for my drink order, so I ordered a pint of Guinness. It was brought to me within 2 minutes. Our server then took the food order. I asked specific questions regarding the prep, ingredients, and flavor of the Bangers and Mashed vs: Shepherds Pie, never having either of these here before. She told me what each contained, and since their pie was made with beef, not lamb (shepherds don't tend cows, they tend sheep), I opted for the Bangers and Mashed. Her description of the meal just made my mouth water with excitement. After everyone else ordered I placed mine, so with all the orders in we were surprised to see within 15 minutes all the food arrive. One friend had a Club Sandwich, another a Salad, my wife had the Fish and Chips, and I the Bangers and Mashed. We were all impressed. Everything was served hot, obviously not microwaved, and absolutely delicious. I totally loved my Bangers and Mashed and highly recommend it. Everyone else at the table really enjoyed their food too. My wife said the Fish was better than her favorite English Fish and Chips place served. Bravo for Rooney's, they listened to my last comments and took it to heart. Servers were well trained and knowledgeable, the food was prepared fast and properly, and absolutely delicious. My compliments to the owner! -----08 Jun, 2013----- Food just ok, servers seriously lack training.. When first arriving the hostess seated us in a booth with torn aged vinyl, then brought a glass of water, but it had ice and a straw in it. The straw was immersed in the water, so very unsanitary. I told her I did not want water with ice or a straw, so she returned with water with a straw, no ice. It was obvious she did not listen to my request. The Bartender came and asked if I would like something to drink, so orcered a Guinness on tap. A server then came and again asked for the drink order, and had to tell her the order was already placed. A different server came to get the order, and I ordered a Bruben (this is a hot Reuben sandwich with a Hamburger patty, Corned beef, Swiss cheese, Russian dressing, and sauerkraut on a Burger Bun), and she asked how I wanted the burger so I said medium rare. She repeated medium, and I had to correct her with medium rare, not medium. The others at the table added their orders and she left. Food arrived within 15 minutes, but a guy brought it out, not our server. Taking a bite I quickly noted the burger was well done, so it took another 10 minutes to get our servers attention. When she came over I told her the meat was well done and she immediately blamed the cook saying she told him I wanted medium rare. She took the plate back, and in less than 10 minutes returned with a new Bruben. It was cooked medium rare, but had absolutely no seasoning, and the bun was sogging wet with meat juices. I was very disappointed but just ate half and took the other half home. I knew I could add seasoning and replace the bun, so I did when I got home. When the server returned with the check she just picked up my glass, never asking if I wanted another Guinnes. This place needs the cook trained to prepare food according to how the guest wants it, the food needs proper seasoning, and the meat should be allowed resting time so as not to ruin the bun. The servers need to be trained properly, not serving water with a straw in (unacceptable), listen to orders, not throw the cook or anyone else under the bus (we don't need to know whose fault it is, very unprofessional), and the servers should be the ones bringing out the meals. They also need to check to see if the meal was prepared to satisfaction, not having to be flagged down. I tip 20% but should have withheld my tip oin this case. I will probably return and give them another chance, hopefully they will read this and improve. We'll see.

Paul Lomantagne is coming home from a 2-1/2 year stint in China, we spoke the other night and we and we are going to meet up and have dinner, with Deb and my wife Mary. He arrives in the states on 10/6/15, looking forward.

We visited the Santa Maria area for a 3 day weekend. Had read about Rooney's online and had to try it. We were not disappointed. I had the fish and chips, and my wife had the turkey club on marble rye. I loved my fish and chips, but when I finished I got to try some of the turkey club and if/when I go back, that's what I'm having. What a great sandwich! Service was great.

It was the cap to the matriarch's 90th birthday and the gang of 20 or so family members was in a good mood. Rooney's accommodated us well, seating us at two tables, with attentive service and good food, and their own brews were excellent. What capped the evening was a choir that started singing Wimoweh -- that brought us to song, too. Then some choir members gathered round the matriarch and sang her Happy Birthday. You probably can't count on that sort of thing happening, but it was in an Irish pub. I've seen great things happen in Irish pubs, so I wasn't overly surprised. In all, a great event. We'll be back.

Service is usually good. A wood interior for the entire place which works well. Beer on tap is usually very cold. It's definitely worth visiting. Food is also quite good except for the fried baloney sandwich which is quite possibly the worst sandwich I've ever had. Everybody makes a mistake now and then.

This is by far one of the best restaurants in this area. It is located in the old section of Orcutt, with several other restaurants. Rooney's serves wonderful pub food, the specials nightly are worth trying, the selection of beers, especially the ones brewed on site, are extensive. The wine list is a bit lacking but this is a pub. There is outdoor seating with heaters. Worth finding!

We had a quick lunch at Rooney's and were pleased that we had stopped. The menu is classic pub food, well prepared and voluminous. The beer list was extensive. Considering the Central Coals area where Rooney's is located, the wine list was more moderate, but Irish pubs aren't known for their wine lists. I'd go to Rooney's again if I was in the area.

Food was good and they give you enough to ask about sharing dishes; they really load you up on some. Have a number of good draft beers and of course they have Guiness.

A good time was had by all in Orcutt, California. Five of us had dinner at Rooney's "Irish" Pub. It looks sort of like an Irish Pub; but, since it is fairly new, it lacks the patina of the real thing. Our server was good. My Rueben was OK. The fries were OK. If you are longing for an Irish Pub, this is not the place you are wishing for.

So there must be an American chef in the kitchen here. This was a great find for someone who is just moving to the area. What we liked are the: (a) Food, (b) local beer, (c) atmosphere and (d) cheerful service. We stopped in for lunch while house hunting in the area, partly because they had a wi-fi we could use and were so pleased, that we came back for dinner knowing that the Colts/Titans game would be available to watch. Go Colts!

I love Rooneys. I lived in Santa Maria for about 6 months and Rooney's quickly became one of my favorite spots. Pros: They brew their own beer (and it's awesome) Excellent service Amazing food Special dinners where their chef designs a meal to pair with beer or liquor Free wifi (password is "rooney007") Cons: A little pricey for the area - but I don't think it's over priced Sometimes it gets very busy since it's the only decent Irish Pub for miles around.

I came here for dinner with two friends and I must say the food is fantastic! I had the Corned Beef and it was the best I have ever had. The Shepherd pie is also great. For dessert I recommend the bread pudding. They also have a great selection of beer. My personal favorite is the Angry Irish Amber Ale, the St.Patrick Porter is also very good

We found this pub on a resent trip to Santa Maria. The employee's are very friendly from the hostess all the way up to the management team. A must try is the Fish and Chips. FRESH cod deep fried in a wonderful beer batter, you can really taste the beer!! Served with a ton of fries and a light cole slaw. Real good Pub bar menu a lot to pick from. Do yourself a favor and take a drive down to the city of Orcutt and visit this place.

Rooney's is a great place for drinks and eats. You'll probably pay a little more $$$ than at other restaurants in the area, but it's definitely worth it. The menu is a little different from other Irish pubs we've been to, but EVERY dish we've had there has been excellent. We especially liked the beer braised chicken. It also doubles as a nightlife spot in this area. Gotta try the BBQ when they do it on Saturdays, the pulled pork and brisket is excellent (not to mention that there are few places that serve "BBQ" in this area-most places serve grilled tri-tip...it's very good, just not BBQ).

  • Mar 23, 2013 by Heather

It's ok. Pretty price for pub food, atmosphere is great, but service is slow. Don't expect a romantic evening, as this is a pub, and is loud and has a bunch of tvs with sports on. I ordered the shepard's pie, which while tasty, was a deconstructed version of the real thing. My husband's fish and chips was pretty good, a good 3 piece serving. The homemade potato chips and dip were good.

  • Jan 25, 2013 by OzzyKO

Having been to pubs all over Europe...for America, this place is GREAT! Everything I've ever had there had been great!!! From Bangers & Mash to Shepards Pie to corned beef and burgers...it's fantastic!!!

  • Jan 23, 2013 by maccaty

I love the food and atmosphere at Rooney's. Their Brussel sprouts were the best I ever had. I also love their Sheepherder Pie. Their Barbeque Chicken Sandwich and their Goat Cheese Salad were wonderful. I eat there quite often and the waiter's and waitresses are very friendly. The inside is very beautiful and nicely decorated. The only flaw is it is noisey but there are a couple of little areas further from the bar.

  • Nov 08, 2012 by Cars1966

can be noisey and crowed at certain times. Attractive decor, very good food at a reasonalble price. Orcutt has several good restaurants, this is one of them for sure

  • Oct 29, 2012 by Courtney Guhring Arensdorf

Had another great dinner at Rooney's last night. I am a chicken aficionado and I can always rely on the consitancy of the Beer Brined Roasted Chicken. It is fabulous. My son called it "chicken bacon" The meat is juicy and flavorful but with crispy skin. Unbelievable. I can't ever order anything else! Luckily my husband likes the Ruben Sandwich and its great too. I am sitting at work today having the leftovers and just have to say, its still delicious! Thanks Rooney's keep up the great work.

  • Oct 08, 2012 by Shari B

I've been to Rooney's on three separate occassions and it is never a disappointment. The food is casual but very tasty, and the atmosphere is really comfortable and inviting. They also have a private meeting room available for groups.

  • Sep 24, 2012 by mancastle

Great place to catch a ball game with friends. Laid back atmosphere that still stays classy. Large beer selection great food. I recommend the "One and Only" Burger.

  • Sep 22, 2012 by hikingbee

The food is good, service was also very good. Loved the decor and set up of this restaurant with real wood and Irish memoribilia. I hear it has a lively bar scene on the weekends but I've just been there for lunch and dinner.

  • Aug 11, 2012 by cmyview

Don't know if I will ever make it to Ireland...but since I have "go to an Irish Pub" on my bucket list, this may have to do. Thanks to Groupon I discovered this restaurant. We had no idea that Orcutt had such a great place. It is so warm and inviting. The staff were all very nice. The place has a real good feel to it, and the food was really good too. I had the Bangers and Mash, as well as the salad with goat cheese. Both were great and the salad could have been a meal by itself. I was glad to see there were 2 sizes of the main course as I knew I would want something smaller with order a salad as well. Loved it. My husband got the Shepherds Pie and he loved it too. The beers were good, and it was a great experience all around. Won't hesitate to drive out there as it is totally worth it. Wish they had something like this in the SY Valley - not one restaurant in the valley comes close. I don't know why we had never heard of it...the word needs to get out. I want this place to flourish!! Love it!

  • Jul 30, 2012 by CAbeachlovers

Awesome place with relaxed atmosphere. The servers are attentive and always provide excellent service. The beer is cold and they have delicious sandwiches and burgers (piggy burger is Aaaaamaziing!) I've also attended some nights with live music and it's always been packed. Also a great place for date night!

  • Jul 24, 2012 by SMRB210

The pub is beautifully decorated and captured my interest as soon as I entered. The menu was good and of course the beer selection was great. This is a nice place to meet friends.

  • Jun 14, 2012 by hapihart107

Love their Pear Cider and they have a great menu, The food was fresh and the atmosphere was what you'd expect at a good Irish pub!

  • Jun 08, 2012 by Dee P

Rooneys makes hand-cut potato chips and serves them as appetizers. totally sinful, totally yummy! The Rueben is served on marble rye bread with kraut & Russian Dressing. Thin sliced corned beef melts in your mouth - YUM!

  • May 29, 2012 by Jennifer

Don't get your hopes up to eat here on Tuesdays :(

  • May 10, 2012 by Mitzileee

Fun to be there and the Irish decor was such a novelty for me. They are very generous with the beer tasting and I can't wait to go back again.

  • May 08, 2012 by elink40

This was a big surprise as most of the bars/pubs I have visited in the area don't have that real pub feel I was used to from pubs in Canada. It was a busy place so we wound up at the bar with one of those flashing buzzing pager coasters they use. They have a good selection of beer on tap for those of us who like a nice draft. My wife had the fish and chips who said that the fish was tasty and the batter crisp. I had a burger that was cooked as requested, medium rare, which left it juicy. Not many places will cook your burger this way. They had prizes up for grabs too with bits of trivia. Be the first to answer the question and you get a prize. There was sports and movie trivia while we were there and they gave away T-shirts and movie tickets. It was good fun.

  • May 05, 2012 by thawsout

Great food, service and charming decor. Feels authentic to upscale Irish pubs and the food is better, from the appetizer chips to fish and chips or corned beef & cabbage stew; the Ruben sandwiches on marbled bread, pork loin inner and the "Irish" German chocolate cake made with Guiness; all amazingly good! After each visit with friends, they bring their family or friends back later for a mini get-away. The variety of delicious offerings keeps you wanting to go back and try something else, so we do!

A fun restaurant and bar that serves wonderful fish and ships and a great variety of beers. The house made potato chips with dipping sauce are to die for! Orcutt is just 4 miles from Santa Maria and worth the trp if you're looking for a different eating experience.

Had my first Smoked Peat Stout here. It, and the other stouts, I found excellent. Future trips I plan to sample other than appetizers...

The Shepards pie & chili are amazing! If they have butternut ravioli or some other "special" that doesn't seem to fit in, skip it!

Ok, it's a little pricey, but it's a fun place and a great setting. Love the chips and dip they bring in a bag for you to snack on while waiting for your food. The food is rich and tasty, although I wasn't crazy about the fish tacos and told them so. We have eaten there several times and that is the only thing I've had that I wasn't thrilled with. Definitely worth trying, it's an experience along with a good meal.

Great, friendly staff & nice atmosphere! Every other place I try to go get a drink & relax around here is full of undesirables. OH! And you have try try the fried brussels sprouts. FANTASTIC! They are on the appetizer menu, but I have them to myself & am always tempted to get another plate.

Love it!. Great atmosphere. Great variety on the menu and reasonably priced. The bar makes good drinks, the service is efficient and friendly. Oh, and the homemade potato chips are to die for!!

Unfortunetly the nicest place in Orcutt. Ate there tonight. Took them over an hour to make a pastrami sandwhich on a slow Tuesday evening. . The service is bad, food is mediocre. The success of this restaurant is based on good decor and nice looking waitresses.

Get the winter squash raviolis! They're not on the menu til January, but they're a permanent special until then! Mmm

great home made beers, good food. just a fun hang out place with traditional irish flair.

Not feeling this place at all. Worst service I have ever experienced. Basicly we were ignored by staff. I can't even comment on the food because we couldn't get served not even water. On top of that the majority of the people in the bar were old, it's definately not a place i would recomend to anyone under 30.

This is an Irish pub with its own brewery as well. I have enjoyed Fish & Chips (lots of food) as well as fish tacos. Special thin potatoe chips along with dip upon seating starts the experience on a positive taste.

Awesome Place. Rooney's is soooo good, the food, the service, the decor, everything is outstanding!! I love the look of the place with it's dark wood and authentic pub memorabillia. The food is really good and there are some unique items on the menu. The staff is friendly and very attentive. What a welcome respite to the rest of the restaurants in this area.

Great local pub with great food, drink and service. We have enjoyed every meal and always received friendly service. We have been 5-6 times over the past 6-8 months and it has always been dependable for quality service and food. Menu is unique and there is a wide selection of beers.

We go to Rooney's about twice a month. We love the food and the atmosphere is very lively. This is a great place to meet up with friends for a drink, or have a romantic dinner beside the fireplace.

A wonderful place with lots of character..not something typically found in Santa Maria! The foood was delicious and service was great. The homemade potato chips they serve are delicious..just wouldn't want to know the calorie content! Shepherd's pie was different than any I have had before, but very good.

Rooney's Irish Pub. Wonderful menu, service and delicious food that is impeccably presented. Also enjoyed the beautiful woodwork and leaded glass everywhere. A little noisy...ask to sit in the back room if you want a quieter ambiance. Chef Anthony Endy is definitely passionate about his work!

Great "Pub?" Food. Recommended by a friend, and I was amazed! This restaurant has the feel of a nice steak restaurant/sports bar, and the service was quick and pleasant. The food was outstanding, but not exactly traditional Irish Pub style. I had "The Lost" Sheppard's Pie, and it was a pile of mashed potatoes, vegetables, and a slab of tender Pot Roast served on top. The flavor was excellent. My wife had the Ruben Sandwich, and raved about it all day. She said it was more like a huge corned beef sandwich from New York than a typical Ruben. The "German Chocolate Cake" left a little to be desired... as it was basically dark chocolate cake with German chocolate icing. Great selection of beverages... even imported Belhaven Scottish Ale in bottles and Guinness on tap! The prices were comparable to a steak restaurant instead of a pub, but for the quality of the food in a small town on the central coast, it was appropriate. Three entree's, two beers, one glass of wine, and one dessert ran about $75 with tip. The Pinot Grigio wine they suggested for my wife was a bit pricey at $7.25 for a half a glass... but the beers were competitive at $2.75 - $6.00. All in all, a really nice place, and it will be one of my regular stops.

Loved the entire experience!. Just tried this place for the first time today and absolutely loved it! The family owned business has done it right and they have created a warm and friendly environment with great staff. All of their food is housemade- which is a big plus for this area. From the chips to the ketchup, it's all made from scratch! They have great options and I wanted to order one of everything! I can't wait to go back!

Great new Irish Pub!! Good food, good drinks, friendly staff. Mostly 30-50yr old professionals make up the cliental of this old Orcutt establishment. It's good to have Rooney's here. The Orcutt area needed it!!! Watch out on weekend nights though!!! The younger Santa Maria crowd has quickly started to frequent here, filling the restaurant and bar with immaturity, bad attitudes, and quick tempers. I, along with many of my friends and associates from Orcutt sincerely hope that Rooney's will quickly educate this new crowd that this behavior is not acceptable and will not be tolerated. I truly look forward to frequenting this business with friendly staff and mostly good atmosphere without the bother of the Santa Maria rif raf....
